A few reactions:
1.) Absolutely agree that the Knicks were getting high-quality shots AKA open looks. An aside: this was a very nice article/video combo. I really enjoy the game tape for the average joe. You should continue to write articles and make videos of this type - it's unique and interesting.
2.) Back to my point: if you're consistently shooting yourself in the foot (har har), why wouldn't you change strategies? Sure, the Knicks' 3-point shooting style is usually successful... but as you said, "sometimes in basketball, a team doesn't make shots." The Knicks were clearly not making their long shots, and didn't even attempt to take easier ones.
Great read. Your idea of changing the culture of basketball recruiting is interesting, but, as you mention, unlikely and difficult. What exactly do you have in mind?
