@Author Catherine Lyon  Lasik was definitely worth it and has supposedly improved since I had it done 14 years ago.

Being able to see without glasses is awesome. I love being able to swim and hit the movies without issue.

@Ice Scream Mama  I figure if we love to write and we want to improve then we are obligated to ourselves to go where that takes us and if dark essays are it, well then so be it.

Eventually the glasses will come, I try them on periodically. I am sure I'll give in because it makes sense and enables me to be more productive or so I like to think. ;)

@lilangus  This is one of the dumbest, most obnoxious responses I have ever read.

No one elected you Minister of Feelings. You don't get to decide what is offensive for someone else and what isn't.

Hell I am offended that you didn't cut to the chase because you could have saved us time by just writing:

I guess, what I'm trying to say is, why waste your time on a blog/post about how offended you are by a word?

You might feel differently about Nazis if large numbers of your family had been murdered by them but to you it is just something that happened long ago, right. If you can decide how others feel I guess we can decide how you do too.

@David Kepley  I hear you. I publish virtually everything because I feel like I am learning something. It gives me material to review and think about, there is no room for improvement if you don't establish a base.

I understand about writing for the children, because I definitely do that.

@StartYourNovel  Phoning it in is never acceptable. I can live with the moments where I am not happy with my work because I just didn't have it that day provided I feel like I put the effort in to it.

Every now and then I run into people who tell me their writing never makes them feel one way or another. I have to bite my lip and tell them that if they never feel happy, sad or frustrated they aren't putting any effort into it.

I can't understand how people can say that with a straight face.

@Rochelle Fritsch  I agree. I have a hard time believing they have any interest in asking themselves hard questions about why they believe as they do.

Very disappointing,

That sounds like a hard conversation to have with your daughter. I know how hard it was for us to talk about that kind of hate here, it makes even less sense to children. Not really sure I can even say it makes sense but...
