His HERO chart looks a hell of a lot better than most of our current bottom 6... but there's no bar for "grit."

Beating 3 garbage Canadian teams will send a strong message to the Eastern conference? Will that make up for our dogshit record against the Metro?

@PenGeno @Midnight Rider I'd pay to see that. Do you accept Paypal?

@DJ_TaktiX @Midnight Rider @FlyinPenguin 17 minutes.
@FlyinPenguin And Farnham is going to get extra time for voluntarily taking his lid off.
@jovi0055 @Midnight Rider Didn't see what happened, but he's back.
@jovi0055 @Midnight Rider Yep, he's been out since early in the second. Went down the runway with Chris Stewart. Hasn't returned.
@jovi0055 @Midnight Rider project much? I could give a shit about taking 2 points from these bottom-dwelling scum rags. We've already lost Letang and Malkin. Next someone's going to run Crosby. I'll have a raging hard on after that.
I don't even want to watch the rest of this game. Such a joke.
@DCzski ...or Steve Downie... that is why the Pens signed Steve Downie, right?

At least Sid didn't use injury as an excuse for his performance (unless
this "leak" was intentional)... Know who else needs off-season wrist
surgery? Jonathan Quick. And the injury was not a result of hoisting

@FuuManChuMan @Midnight Rider It's a matter of style and what you prefer in a GM. Rutherford is more forth-coming than Shero. I appreciate openness and honesty in a leader; maybe others prefer the calm, coy, non-answers of Shero (and most others involved in professional sports). But I don't really take issue with the comment--he made it Friday after Desjardins decided on Vancouver. At that point, the Penguins were the only team with a coaching vacancy. As per Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts, everyone knew the Pens wanted Peters or Desjardins. I don't see how Rutherford telling Rossi "We have interviewed many quality coaches, but haven't found one we envision leading this team yet" changes anything. Except that it is a non-truth/lie. Rutherford told the truth: "The guy I had is going in a different direction."

@FuuManChuMan @Midnight Rider You mean like everyone knew Rutherford wasn't the first choice as GM?
His PR hasn't been great, but he's probably not used to being under a huge microscope in a market like this where the expectations are unrealistic. Also, maybe he's trying to send the message that he's open and honest to build a little goodwill in the wake of the organization fucking over Shero and Bylsma? Or maybe he's just a senile old man who is here to be the whipping boy for the next 3 years.
Regardless, remove Rutherford's comments. There is exactly one coaching vacancy remaining in the league. At this point, I think everyone knows we didn't land our first or second choice.
@Mr. Confidence Not only that, but apparently you can't bring your preferred staff with you. Looking more and more like Hynes to me.
How exactly can Rutherford be blamed for any of the above? That's exactly what Mario, Burkle, and Morehouse want you to do. The front office is entirely responsible for this tire fire of an offseason. It's what they created by setting astronomically high expectations/standards for this team. It's what they created by firing Shero knowing what the options were for his replacement. It's what they created by mishandling Bylsma.
But, yes, let's blame the outsider who was brought in as a stop-gap measure. Let's blame him and not the front office who hired a GM whose resume was 20 years with one team (not in a big market or a market with piranha reporters).
Just because his PR style is different than Shero's, we're going to burn him at the stake? He's probably overly honest. Maybe management should have realized that before they hired him.
"He" didn't whiff on his top 2 choices for head coach. The organization did. Peters probably got more cash and term in Carolina (and lower expectations for a first-time NHL head coach). By all accounts, Desjardins to Vancouver was a practical lock; also, the Pens wouldn't let him bring his preferred assistants. Besides how bad mishandling Bylsma looks, who exactly is going to want to be the head coach when management is constantly, actively undermining their authority?
How does anyone know Rutherford hasn't been actively shopping Niskanen? Maybe there are no takers. And, honestly, a conditional fourth/fifth round pick is going to make you feel better about Niskanen walking?
What's wrong with trading the first round pick? Did I miss the previous post where you tore down Rutherford's history of drafting? Aren't we in total "win-now" mode? Would you rather spend a draft pick on a winger who needs to be developed for a few years or trade that pick for an NHL player?

First Peters, then Willie... Maybe the third time's the charm for GMJR (and tPB). Yikes indeed.
@Bing_87 @PenGenoTo be completely fair, Toews has 3 GWG.
