I thought "surely Nationals should offer enough value and exposure to potential sponsors to generate more than $700??

Wasn't aware at that time who the organizer was but was blown away that they were putting out a presser announcing a $700 purse split between the 6 fastest riders in the country.

Then we see in this article that the organizer is turning down additional prize $$?

Truly bizarre.
