Gremlins. ;) hehehe
My children don't look like me either. If I'm out alone with them in public, I get "Oh, how cute!!" and smiles, but that's about it. If my husband is out with them, there's a gasp followed by "She/he/they (whichever applies at the moment) look just like you!!" It's all good though....I'm quite pleased and proud.
It would be pretty funny if her money ends up funding home birth/natural birth/doulas/gentle cesarean birth/breastfeeding activism. :) Perhaps she should have agreed to the first set of terms!
@TheFeministBreeder @JessicaMarieWakefield Something never quite sat well with me every time I read her posts and comments on things. Finally a long while back I just "unliked" the page because I couldn't seem to get a good feeling from it nor really get anything helpful out of it. Now I can see why.
@Antigonos CNM @KelSzydagis @mom2nat @mplsmomma That is not correct. Do you have access to the Cochrane Library? http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD003248.pub3/abstract
@mplsmomma @KelSzydagis @mom2nat Indeed. And this concept really applies to every area in general, not just medicine. I couldn't tell you how many job interviews I went to after graduating and hearing "We like your records from school, we like your resume, we like the way you interviewed, but we need someone with experience." That's the way it is...BOTH are needed, and they need to be up-to-date and current. As a pregnant woman, who would sound more credible and trustworthy to you...someone who hasn't practiced, isn't licensed and can only go off of what they remember they learned in school, or someone who is experienced, is keeping up with all the latest scientific evidence and lays out options for women so they can make informed choices??? If we were going to collaborate with medical professionals, I'd certainly think it would make more sense to go with someone like the current president of ACOG rather than someone who stalks and attacks people online as a full-time job.
@xyzabc I understand...but here is a recent blog post by Gina that shows she supports all women in their informed choices: http://thefeministbreeder.com/20-births-later-my-thoughts-on-being-a-doula/
@mom2nat Here is the thing...this "Dr Amy" is very well known throughout the entire birthing community as being an internet bully and a stalker. There are many bloggers and maternal advocates in line behind Gina who have been attacked by this woman and her rabid minions. One of them is even facing legal action now after getting traced and found after cyber stalking and bullying. There is plenty of documentation on this crazy behavior. This is not normal. It is one thing for a doctor to express his/her opinion on his/her own blog in a reasonable, professional manner, but this is NOT what goes on here. There is a lot more going on here with this woman than people seem to be aware of. If she had expressed her disapproval about what Gina did/does once and let it go, that would have been one thing...but this goes on, and on, and on.
Funny that fb says it's strict about nudity/pornography in their community standards, yet there are pages that blatantly violate that (Yes, I've seen one and reported it. It's still there.). They harass women who do not violate the standards, but do nothing to those who do.
