Dino, sometimes life creates disengagement. That happened to me from April to December 2014. I essentially lost my moxie to continue the day-in and day-out grind when it just so happened I had to conform to the rules. Rules made by Google; rules made by digital marketing. My blog is lucky to have 2 posts a month although that will change soon. I miss the peeps, but they're elsewhere, too.
And, what did I feel? Amazing relief. More time, less stress, little drama about the interpersonal relationships about which A-lister is getting knocked up or down by the other A-lister. No fun, not billable, just like high school.
So, I applaud you for this revelation. Social media has come of age; in fact, it's not just another marketing tactic that's hard to measure. Is it helpful to have a brand online and to show prospects you're whom you say you are? Indeed, but the total time suck is no longer necessary.
Congrats on growing Triberr; I knew you when.

@LauraPetrolino Hi, Laura! I probably knew of you before the vice versa. That's what happens when Spin Sucks! Nice to meet you, too.
@bdorman264 Hi, Bill!!!!! Miss all the old cronies and yes I am playing tons and tons of tennis! Just won a few singles matches, which makes me beam. How's golf, business and life in general? Thanks for coming over, Bill.
@ElissaFreeman @Soulati | Hybrid PR I think I just stole 30 minutes photographing lipstick and trying to post the image here! LOL
Oh, big bummer. I had to post my 3 lipsticks on Facebook.
Gahh. Couldn't upload via mobile; so, let me share my lipstick story right here for all you lipstick on a pig mavens @ElissaFreeman @ginidietrich @PRTini et al.
The NARS on the left is more dense which means less indentation compared to the MAC in the middle with slightly more indent to the curvature of the luscious lip. The spanky cherry Nivea is tres soft and starts flat but soon gets a tip, too.
POOPY. @Livefyre not letting me post my image; stand by.
Omg u asked for it. I am going to put that pic on top. And I've gone mobile to do it.
How did u know??!!
@Norma Maxwell Hi, Norma! I have a secret. I am no longer married to my blog! In fact, we got a divorce so I only sporadically show up to nurture my opinions up there! Heh. But feel free to comb nearly five years of archives! LOL. Great to tweet you, comment you, and all that #RockHot stuff. Thank you!
@Joshua Wilner/A Writer Writes TheJack, oops, is that a secret? Whatup? Dude, traditional communication methods are in order with you, too!
@ginidietrich @Eleanor Pierce #PSHFREAKINGSHAW
@susancellura Hi, Girlie! How's Texas? How's biz? What's new? Oh, I have been away toooo long. Miss everyone, and thanks for popping over!
@rosemaryoneill RoHo? Is that you? Omgosh, I've been needing to catch up with you via traditional methods. Got time? How's that veranda? If you have a party on that porch, then @KristenDaukas and I will come play. And, we're gonna bring @annelizhannan and the Gin Blossom, too.
@annelizhannan Hi, Anneliz! You're so freaking smart; yep, I thought I was going to pull down $100K! Hilarious. Great to see you here and thanks for not bashing my lipstick today.
@KristenDaukas Kristen! You're so right. We blow up a room together, and I love you for that reason. I need to come back to NC; I love your state! In fact, my next place on my wish list to live is Asheville. Congrats on a great ConvergeSouth, too! XO
@KristenDaukas LOL. I'm on a call so I can't multi-task. Be right back!
@Word Ninja Did you know chapstick is like Rose (wine)? You start there and graduate to Chardonnay, then Pinot Noir, then Merlot, etc. So, you get the tinted chapstick (my fave is Nivea cherry) and wear until you want to try the real deal. And, oh, MAC makes the best lipstick evah and NARS is on par. Heh.
@ElissaFreeman Oh my yes! No mirror and I don't forget the humps! How you doing, Girlie??
@Eleanor Pierce Dammit, preggers mama. I'm so insulted that you and Gini do not believe me. It makes me very upset. And, I'll second that with the face to face thing; I love you and I'm so jazzed to be here today!
@Digital_DRK Holy Guacamole! We are now creating a new lipstick line -- you, me and Paula. I'm so excited to have my distribution methods all worked out! You are #RockHot! B/c as you know Mr. DRK, if no one can get the product in the outskirts of dystopia, the lips will remain pale. So nice to meet you!
@HeatherTweedy Hi, Heather!! I'm delighted to be someone new to you, and even more delighted that Gin Blossom unearthed me from the archives for another showing on Spin Sucks. She's really coy that way, ya know?
Thank you for such a sweet comment! I'm excited to engage, when I decide to re-engage, and over at the blog, Gini forced me to come out of exile and post today so I could look like I'm still paying attention! LOL! Omgosh, I do miss this world up here.
@biggreenpen Hi, Fellow Inquisitionee!! Weren't those questions hard and each time I'd read, I'd laugh b/c THEY had to answer them. Little did I know, the hot seat would be mine. Thanks for reading and remembering our Happy Friday Series, Lady!
P.S. I wonder if I could start my own lipstick line that looks like a Big Green Pen?
As usual, John, your content sings to me. Excellent points and solid for the business trying to understand the right strategy. Good topics for a podcast, eh?

@Raymond Andrews @Soulati | Hybrid PR YAY! And, #RockHot! If no one else stops in at all, I don't care...you have made my day. It's so good to engage with old friends. Thank you! Glad to see you up and around, too, Ray. So, glad.

@Raymond Andrews RAY!!! How are you? How's things on a personal scale? It's so great to have you here, and it's so good to be blogging.
What a fascinating comment. I had no idea that some of the stores are not allowing cameras? Wonder if the QR code will soon go by the wayside?
It seems like employees are the last to know anything; especially those on the frontlines. Thank you for coming by, Ray. It's a great Monday morning gift you gave me!
Hi, Davina! You're right of course. No one needs to have 40 reasons why message mapping is a strategy b/c even with ONE, they need it! And, I agree...we are needed to help clients "make better stuff!"
How's things? I have not gotten my mojo back yet...the break has been wonderful; too wonderful!
4 months, 1 week ago on Message Mapping: 40 Reasons Why #Infographic
@3HatsComm Hi, Davina! I missed that blog post you wrote on message mapping! Please attach that here! Of course, I have missed the last 5 months of pretty much everything with my head in the sand! That smoker thing is a huge conundrum. I went to French Lick Springs, IN (you know, the hometown of Larry Bird, former Pacer) and the balcony is one of those wrap-around verandas with rocking chairs? The smokers were so disturbing that my daughter and I were gagging; vowed I'd never return. Now, that place is also a casino -- smokers + gambling. Per your point.
So great having you stop in, and I really am happy to see you.

@Shelley Pringle @Soulati | Hybrid PR What is your day like tomorrow or next?
@Faryna Hi, Stan! My dear poet...you have been through your share of battles with ballads, and I so admire and respect your awesomeness. Thank you for being here with me.
@Shelley Pringle Wow...so absolutely wonderful to see you, Shelley! I'm thrilled you stopped in; thank you sooo much! I would like to connect via Skype to match wits about Hubspot!
@KDillabough Indeed. Knowing there are folks pulling hard for victory and light is what makes my world stable. Thanks for you, Kaarina!
@jennwhinnem I have always loved your resourcefulness. You jump around and find relevance in clutter! Gosh, I had forgotten you rode the Mini with me! And, didn't we HAVE to go to Wal-Mart for some forgotten item? TeeHee!
@Joshua Wilner/A Writer Writes Heh. That's why you are a rich blogger man, eh, Josh? Great counsel; I am going to follow that to a J. Good Morning, LA!
7 months, 2 weeks ago on Should Bloggers Write With Key Words?
@mrsstarstatus @KDillabough Thanks for coming by to say so!!!! Appreciate that!
@KDillabough Truth be told, Kaarina, I thought of you as I was writing this, wondering if you'd agree.
You did! And, I do (til death do us part)! Because we've been doing this so long and have experienced every change that required adjusting and re-targeting, we've (I've) grown very weary of the uphill climb.
I've been seeing people talk about the demise of the single blogger. Back in 2010, I launched the SMB Collective -- it was a group blog before its time! Need I resurrect that again and find folks to join in and write for small businesses?
Should we align forces and let each of us showcase our talents again with key words and offerings and products?
I need more time, more money, and more help. Sigh. Thank you for you!
@RyanKBiddulph Hi, Ryan! Any ideas of key words for PR peeps, though? We're a dime a dozen! Thanks for popping over; I very much appreciate it especially as I've been MIA of late!
@Neicolec I know, right? Seriously, spending $5K on a commode for mass U.S. consumers is prohibitive! BTW, does anyone sit that long to listen to personalized music? Maybe the discussion is "it's cultural!"

@susansilver I should look at this, Susan. I rarely take a look at my stream, but there is good content inside. I think I get worried I can't read it all so I don't look as much as I should! Thanks, lady. So good to see you here!
@KDillabough @RyanKBiddulphThere are a nice network of we who were in the height of Twitter, and you were instrumental in all of it!! I'm sorting through the next best strategy and don't think I've gotten there yet, but as we've chatted about, it's time to figure out who we want to be and how! Thanks for coming over, K!
@RyanKBiddulph Hi, Ryan! Thanks for the note and sorry it took so long to reply, too. You're right. The personalization is so important and not just sharing content others are. Thanks!!
@profkrg Hi, Kenna! No one's fault but my own, I'm sure. When you take a bit of a backseat to social engagement, you're soon lost and forgotten. If I were engaging at previous levels, I'm certain there wouldn't be a blip in the stream. I still do love Twitter, and now my business partners are telling me I need to move along to LinkedIn and cultivate that stream. When you have to do social for business, the strategy changes!
Thanks for coming over here! Appreciate that!
@Eleanor Pierce @belllindsay@SoulatiSheesh. The peer pressure over here. I'm coming clean. Jay Baer and I have hugged repeatedly at several conferences where we both spoke and ate and drank. Well, I guess I should come cleaner and say he was the #RockHot keynote?
And, Lindsay? He does hug like a teddy!

@JoeCardillo Hi, Joe! I'm so happy you stopped by to affirm my new branding strategy. Had I known it would take such a yeoman's effort to get traction for this differentiator I may have just hobbled along as before!
I also like your phrase "workflow." I hadn't thought of messaging like that at all, but you're so right. Without a type of messaging there isn't a foundation for program strategy and content. Thank you!
8 months, 3 weeks ago on Why Get @GiniDietrich Spin Sucks And @Soulati Message Mapping Books
@Eleanor Pierce @ginidietrich@mathewsnShoot, then I must be failing. I tell my kid she's smart all the time and then try to pull back and say you can be smart but don't be a smart ass. It's really challenging with bullying, and BFFs, and the "populars." I'm not looking forward to 7th grade!
8 months, 4 weeks ago on Women Can’t Be Awesome: What’s Really the Root of the Problem
@TracyRedefined OMgosh. I'm having the exact opposite situation! I'm trying to teach the balance between arrogance and humbleness and showing off intelligence to others lacking. It's a major challenge and one I don't believe I'm winning.
As parents we know from experience and sometimes letting our kids (mine's 12) flounder is the best teaching tool (and our biggest painful moment!).
