I love to stand out in a ruffly poet's shirt and a patterned gypsy skirt. Something with purple and black, touches of gold and green.

This is an excellent discussion, and the idea of public domain works given freely by their creators isn't new. In searching the internet just yesterday I found a few sites with various rulesets and quality levels. I won't name them here, but if someone wanted to produce a magazine with such freely sourced material, that would be much wiser than what Cooks Source has done.
I've been watching this whole thing develop since it hit the news streams, and I can't help but smile at the power of people to bring such things to light. I'm a bit sorry that some over-zealous types took things too far with flooding the advertisers. While they have a right to know, it shouldn't be at such a rate that it becomes disruptive to their operations.
I don't have advice for Griggs. The way things have been handled so far by Cooks Source has been horrendous. And I am only looking at the things I can 100% identify as theirs (I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on FB. A lot of the stuff there is admittedly hoaxed.) The original emails to the offended author and their current website apology reek of contempt and entitlement; they only deepen my resentment over their original infractions. Their theft is all but unforgivable to me. So sorry and good luck, but I think it's best that the Cooks Source staff pack it in and start anew, without Griggs and any of her inner circle.
