ginidietrich I absolutely agree, and I would like to clarify my statement; I meant to say that one COULD say they don't have the resources, but the resources they really needed here were common sense and respect. I certainly don't approve of or want to justify their actions in any way and I personally wouldn't say the don't have the resources - they just lack the ethical base needed.

It is truly amazing to watch someone completely fail at social media. You could make the case that they aren't a major publication so they don't have the same resources to help them make amends. However, seeing as they apparently make quite a habit out of stealing content they should be much better at covering their tracks... The only plan to save the magazine appears to be a serious culling of staff, starting with Ms. Griggs. I don't see a way she keeps a job, and most of the staff probably needs to go with her to "remove the culture" that is apparently in place. As was stated, Ms. Gaudio was willing to let it go with an apology and a small donation. Disney will bury these people. Hopefully when they are done there is enough of a marker left to remind future editors of what happens in the modern world when you ignore the rules.
I see this being a benchmark in many a college journalism ethics course in the very near future.
