I, however, have faith in humanity. After recent brand stupidity, the people spoke with their wallets: Amazon and Etsy both came to their senses after lots of pressure. And scores of people will no doubt stop buying from Kenneth.
Note: it is considered an insult in the Arab world to remove your shoes and wave them in the air. It happened earlier this week in Egypt, and now it's virtually happening to KC himself.
Humanity 1, Ken 0.
How bout: "do you feel as if you are hiring a business partner? or do you feel as if you are checking the box marked 'PR firm'."
But yes, good list...also, social proof is vital these days, too.
Cheers!
I think one of the issues here is that the people Danny mentions - ginidietrich and rachelakay et al - are PR PEOPLE WHO BLOG.
I think someone in a traditional PR shop who doesn't get it is probably not someone who makes a regular habit of blogging. Which is who this unidentified rep obviously is.
I'm with Kristi Hines below - anonymous makes me want to take it less seriously.
We're all going to have to resign ourselves to the fact that some "get it" and some don't.
Great stuff, as per usual.
ginidietrich davevandewalle I don't condone any violence whatsoever. Also, strep throat diet takes a week, at least.
Danny, if you find yourself in Chicago, let me treat you to the experience that is Abt - one of the largest independent retailers of electronics, appliances, home theater systems, etc. in the USA.
They do everything you speak of above - and a good chunk of it is because they turn their staff loose. Sales help that not only knows their stuff but actually backs it up with impeccable service.
And fresh baked cookies.
Danny Brown Yeah, it can definitely be a fine line. Eating cake and all...
And you score points for addressing that fact in your post. Some folks don't at all...
HOWEVER, I'm fearful we're all getting a little too PC.
Keep up the good work!
Danny - I love your stuff, but I cringe when I see "drink the Kool-Aid." So much so, I've recently added that to the "cringe-worthy" list. http://area224.com/cliches-to-avoid/ is the link to my impassioned plea to avoid these things.
Otherwise, though, love teh list.
