@theDing @JonathanCobo Apologies. I am not a lawyer... My point is that if I have a problem with a driver I actually have recourse when I use Uber. They have the ability to value individual customers where a cab company could care less about you. I am not wrong there.

A few people have already stated the gist of the situation. For the Cabs that want to complain about Uber, you are not thinking about the situation in its entirety. The same people who are trying to stop Uber are the same people who own the credit card machines in the Taxis and are trying to stop this Taxis from using Square. (Taxis get charged a lesser % by using Square vs. using the credit card machine in the cab)
This has nothing to do with innovation. This has everything to do with the cab and limo companies having political clout.
What bothers me the most is that this is being done by the "Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection"
Where is the consumer protection here? I have never felt safer in a car service/cab than I do when I am in Uber. Before I even get in the car I have an electronic copy of who this person is that is picking me up. If anything goes wrong I have their information and I have the right to hold that person and Uber accountable. What cab company or limo service have you ever had the ability to hold them accountable.
I have left a phone in an Uber car once and the driver brought it back to me at no charge. I have left my phone in multiple cabs and if I got it back I had to pay the cabbie whatever he asked for it.
