@Phantom The issue of "race" as a social construct is actually a lot more complicated than people care to admit. If anything, geneticists are noticing that there ARE biochemical/physical similarities among groups of people that is sociologically convenient to term by "race", but of course that's extremely complicated. That notion of race as a "social construct" is actually a product of the 1970s/80s ethnic studies that didn't really engage with what was going on with the medical/biological sciences that saw that there were higher instances of various diseases within ethnic groups (like sickle cell anemia among people of African and Arab descent) and that different ethnic groups have specific mutations that help them respond better to drugs. Unfortunately, there is no real term to really describe this phenomenon that's not socially loaded.
The point of the article is that for the longest time "personalized medicine" has been focused on improving only the outcomes of white/European people in the US; it's only been very recently that we're finally seeing drug research that actually benefits and targets people of color.
3 years, 1 month ago on Anti-Alcoholism Drug Works Better on (East) Asian Americans
@IsaacKojima Well, given that the article doesn't address prevalence of the mutation in these populations, honestly, we have no clue. it's hard to make a recommendation of whether to use naltrexone because we don't know if it's a prominent mutation worth noting.
well, that wouldn't really work until he's past 80. you know Asians look like they're 30 until they're 80. and then they look like they're 150.
@DinoRay Uncut of course! all the juices run out! ;)

@Ernie H. well at least the HGTV guy's totally out, which is a huge turnon for me. :P
@Ernie H.@BlasianBytch of course! about using different oils and liquids to massage your meat. what ELSE could we be talking about?
@moye that sounds awfully painful.
@BlasianBytch@Ernie H. the totally see through shirt makes me REALLY want to pay attention to what he's cooking. (snark off)
@BlasianBytch@Ernie H. well, i'm assuming there are straight guys who don't....
@Ernie H. You just like guys massaging their meat in front of the cam.
oh Akrypti...you always know how to floor me. ;) Love the article and glad you've seen the error of your ways. (cackle)

@BlasianBytch oh i know where to get good Asian gay porn ;) but all the Asian American gay porn sucks. it's so racially loaded that i get annoyed with it before i can even get turned on by it...

We need more Asian American cocks in porn, not just straight. ;) BTW, I love your blog!
@GoGo @moye I was hearing that it was really misogynistic and not sexy at all so that's a double incentive.

@mikeleeorg @jozjozjoz @moye @timat8asians I'm going to petition right now to have you all stop talking about your penises, boobs and vaginas as a preemptive measure.
That being said, I have a nice booty.

Akrypti, we HAVE to get together before June. I miss your snarkiness.
@moye Now I'm going to start a petition so that you don't force feed your children.

I totally realized I forgot to respond to this thread.
I love that there are so many of us with different viewpoints on things, and I don't and wouldn't want everyone to have the same ideas and opinions as I have (which is more than what I can say for many of my fellow peeps who live in the SF Bay Area or people in the Asian American blogosphere :P). I like that we can post different opinions on things and that we respect each other enough to read and debate those viewpoints, and agree to disagree.
I think what really brought this on for me was going to college at UCR. I was the sole liberal, agnostic/atheist, ethnic studies majoring, queer Filipino boy among people who were decidedly more conservative than me--but I've maintained those friendships with them for 20 years because we genuinely like and respect each other versus those who have the same political background as me, but we just didn't click.
I like that our fearless leaders are trying their best to bring people who do have differing opinions and bring different perspectives on issues, and it's sad that so many people, especially Asian Americans, think that we Asian Americans all have to think the same way about everything.
@Xxxtine @Ernie H. I took the X. I needed it to wrap a present.
@moye That is so anti-Japanese. I'm going to start a petition so that you apologize, right now.
I actually have relatives in Delano too, but they're very distant so I've only met them once maybe 20-25 years ago. It's just sad that we're only truly appreciating the sacrifices they've made thus far.

@darkmoon @bigWOWO I don't want to know why you use the word mangina, darkmoon. Ever.
@bigWOWO Yes we are. Because we are MEN talking about VAGINAS. And Chrome is sexist because I'm using that browser. And my ISP is sexist, and so is my computer.
@bigWOWO Because men talking about vaginas is SEXIST. (even if they're gay. and i don't want to go near one. just sayin'.)
You women are such sexist pigs! (Yes, I said it.)
@Ernie H. @moye no, that's my drag name.
3 years, 7 months ago on BBC Points Out Unusual Filipino Names are Unusual
@Ernie H. LOL, I'm not Tagalog (which is where most of those names are I think). Mine is fairly rare, but I don't want to state it online just in case some crazy people try to stalk me (and my credit score is really bad, so there's really no point people. ;)
@Ernie H. My middle name is my mom's maiden name, which is pretty standard. And absolutely boring.
Wow, I'm just named after my dad, so my name is boring. That's a first....
@moye @DinoRay No, I think they come from China or something like that.
3 years, 8 months ago on Do Asian Women Have The Smallest Vaginas?
@DinoRay @moye MRI or ultrasound, duh. and besides, vaginas stretch. how else are babies born? geez, people....
This makes me glad I'm gay--it's so much easier to hit on guys than girls. And humping men's legs is usually not an issue. ;)

I wonder what'll happen if this kid comes out as gay...would they have him start doing uber-butch routines?
@moye Yeah, but I was realizing that there's all these things where I fit the stereotype, like going to pharm school, liking karaoke...
