Melissa, thanks for sharing your family history. My grandmother was born in Honolulu on my father side and his father in China. My mother and grandmother from China. Grandmother worked in sugarcane field till when back to China with husband and children to be educated since grandfather has business . My Grandfather on mother side was known as Godfather in casinos in China and when he came to San Francisco he open up an casino in Chinatown . People pay up fast or guys went after them.
To this day my grandfather death was still a mystery how he died.

The Whatchafillin waffle in Chinese call Che Loo Bing know as Car Wheel Cake in Taiwan. Now people can get it from cooking ware stores in Taiwan pan to make it also.

This pastry is very special in Japan and Taiwan. In Taiwan they call it cartwheel cake or wheel cart in Chinese. It filled with red bean paste or green bean paste or custard filling. It really street food at it best. There none in San Francisco that have it so people in Honolulu should try it out and enjoy it.

Gin dui is not as easy to make even with recipe. I try to make it and ended up hit the deck and take cover for it explode on me. The temperature was too high I guess. My mother and grandmother made it well.
There so many different way to make it some with brown sugar other white sugar. It a skill I see so special in making it and these Chinese women got it down very good.
I still trying and have not given up at all and maybe one day get it right.
Well it steamed meatballs. Every time in tea house waited for push cart to come by my table my favorite gone all out. Waited again and same thing so from now on order ahead from waitperson.

Everytime I in the tea house for dim sum I miss out of the one I live to get for push cart reach me almost to the end which flavorite gone. They told more will come out soon and again by the time at my table gone waaaa. Now on just order from kitchen by telling waitperson to do so. I like push cart but it does not like me.

Mari, like the drinks they serve there. Heard of SushiSan 1411 Kapiolani Blvd. Since I living in San Francisco but heading later to Hawaii. 1.00 sushis sound like good deal there.

I watch the video and it seem the owner does not know the different of her own religion. I grew up learning of my own and is 4th generations born in Hawaii Taoist. To mislead her own daughter of it is not good.
Melissa, I like Whole Food and see in San Francisco their restaurant is great I could pick whatever I want to be cooked by their fine staff chefs. Some other Whole Food had escargots also. I like deep fried oysters very much and sea bass.

Melissa, thank for showing Primo Popcorn. I got some and people in San Francisco love it and their fav is Prime Rib one . Never anywhere have such varieties flavors. My friends now ordering it from San Francisco and Taiwan. I wonder if they going make green onion pancake favor? It popular in Taiwan.
Melissa, I heard of Damaru Buffet in Sappora and it funny how the chef would ring a bell when a new dish come of the kitchen to inform customers get it while it hot.
Is that where okonomiyaki came from? Hope you find what kind of food famous in Hokaido.
