Taryn, given my experience is largely based in the vintage bimmer cumminity... my favorite are the husband and wife teams.

Terry and Debbie Sayther come to mind (their business card literally has a cartoon of the two of them)

Making something "better" by turning it Japanese as you describe is a bit ..... polarizing, which seems to match the intent of this project in general.

The armchair designers and internet whiners are alive and kicking even here.  Such animosity still baffles me.  It was/is certainly a game changer, even if those who were influenced by it remain in denial (a rather common ailment among desperate designers).

I"m all for stories free of advertising and sponsors, but you've got to pay the bills somehow!  Sure beats pop-up adds or chinsy male enhancement side bars.  Shoot, go read hotrod, grassroots ms, or any other publication, same story.  Think a group of people would spend 40 plus hours a week for the "passion" of it while they've got families and bills?  Wake up whiners, reality is knocking.

This is a gorgeous car, very well though out (opposed to a good chunk of the monster cars featured).  Product placement was a bit too much, but thankfully the car more than made up for that little nitpick.

The obnoxious internet-child in me wants to point out niggles like the steering wheel, or the wheel arches, or a few other tidbits.  But you know what? It doesn't matter.  There's so much i like about the car that the niggles begin to feel prissy in nature. The shape is VERY appealing and it really does seem like a car you can drive the pants off of one.

I saw the caterham, and was think "that looks like a 2002 back there!"  Then, sure enough!  I know of another Ferrari specialist stateside who just picked up one as well.  Given the rivet hole out-lines I'm guessing it's destined for turbo flares (though it appears to be cut a hair high).

EDIT: seems someone below beat me to it by 2 hours.

@RalphScarabaggio Well from an artistic marketing point of view it makes perfect sense.  The only way an artist these days can really do well is if they develop their own stylistic signature.  In a sence, think of it as brand recognition.
