I"m all for stories free of advertising and sponsors, but you've got to pay the bills somehow! Sure beats pop-up adds or chinsy male enhancement side bars. Shoot, go read hotrod, grassroots ms, or any other publication, same story. Think a group of people would spend 40 plus hours a week for the "passion" of it while they've got families and bills? Wake up whiners, reality is knocking.
Really like that clever stillen intake manifold.

This is a gorgeous car, very well though out (opposed to a good chunk of the monster cars featured). Product placement was a bit too much, but thankfully the car more than made up for that little nitpick.

@zz As mentioned the diminutive Chevrons were equipped with many different power trains including the bmw M10 (my fav.) and lotus twin cams. Very neat cars.
That group2 bodied E9 is gorgeous.

Neat pics, good to see that particular 2002 out there, love that car. As far as the demographic pride goes, to each their own.

In Idaho growing up, there were the High School Drags (yes it was considered a sport you could letter in). Our schools SRO officer was the team's administrator. We raced everything from minivans to vipers, great memories.

Congrats on getting everything sorted Taryn! Wish the best to you and your hubby enjoying the Z to the fullest. There's a practical sense of reality about your writing that's refreshing amongst the over-hyped gibberish clogging the online automotive culture.
We now need about a 5 minutes sound clip please.

Drifting is not racing, but as mentioned it is motorsport (and is fun to watch).
This, this is why I come to speed hunters. Thank you Dino.

@Novac Darius What's weird is that you "insta-skip" most of it but still take the time to voice your displeasure. I happen to find whining "more and more" annoying.

OK Dino, you've won me over with this one. I'm all for the OEM+ look, but this would just be a blast to romp around in.
Started with NFS II SE, but it was the new-and-exciting NFS Hot Persuit that got me hooked. Anyone remember the great jump on the alpine course (if driven backwards)? Loved the cheater cars..... the cardboard box, x-wing, ice-cream truck, etc.

4 months, 2 weeks ago on Question Time For The Century Man:<br/> Ask Mr Aston Martin
The obnoxious internet-child in me wants to point out niggles like the steering wheel, or the wheel arches, or a few other tidbits. But you know what? It doesn't matter. There's so much i like about the car that the niggles begin to feel prissy in nature. The shape is VERY appealing and it really does seem like a car you can drive the pants off of one.
Call me crazy but I'd rather have a go in this rather than the new lambo.

I saw the caterham, and was think "that looks like a 2002 back there!" Then, sure enough! I know of another Ferrari specialist stateside who just picked up one as well. Given the rivet hole out-lines I'm guessing it's destined for turbo flares (though it appears to be cut a hair high).
EDIT: seems someone below beat me to it by 2 hours.

@RalphScarabaggio Well from an artistic marketing point of view it makes perfect sense. The only way an artist these days can really do well is if they develop their own stylistic signature. In a sence, think of it as brand recognition.
As for the car, great photography. Don't like the front portion of the cage, but diggin' everything else.

Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism Dino... I commend your enthusiasm for this car (and the Japanese car culture in large), but the way you write in these stories comes across a bit like an overly obnoxious infomercial. It's not becoming to your ability as a photographer.

@wheatgod@AceAndrew2@JustinMuir I'm just not sure why negatively pointing out the general demographic or
car genre is relevant. Isn't it like saying I don't want to go to TAS
because it's full of pimply Asian kids? What I like about speedhunters
is they cover a lot of different car cultures, if this one is not your
cup o' tea then why post?

@Philipp Ulrich I think the only ones being jaded are the speedhunters crew. Most of us haven't lost site of the fact that horsepower isn't everything, I think the SH guys are just rediscovering this and believe they've had an epiphany (mistakenly think we're on the same wavelength).

Oh sweet Mother Mary, to me this car is more exciting than anything you've featured for a while (well that old Celica was nice too). You can through that LB junk in the trash and hand me the keys to this. Subtle exterior changes (mmm those steelies) coupled with a "screw it, why not" engine, perfect.

Enjoyed the coverage but the Ring Brothers have been covered already spectacularly by petroliscious. Would still be neat to see some features though.

9 months, 1 week ago on Neo-Classic: A Turbo-Swapped ’71 Celica
Great car, but to follow the outlined philosophy I'd think about ditching the interior carbon fiber bits. Would love to trade 71's for a day. EDIT: approx. how much do these things weigh anyways?
"kato-san of Liberty Walk refers to the current style as ‘works style’, as
it’s influenced by ’70s Japanese racing style. Maybe you’d prefer to
call it ‘werks style’ as a nod to the German roots? Let us know."
As long as there is a strong nod towards ze German roots then I'm fine with it (a la' 2002 Turbo, etc.)
