@f5alcon Really? You been outside recently? OK is no Florida but come on now, it's not exactly a motorcycling mecca is it? I'm from NM, relatively speaking NM is no pacific northwest, california or colorado for street riding but we have almost no law enforcement in the northern part of the state. Same thing for MX tracks, kinda booty here, but we have endless amounts of open terrain to explore. Just being objective is all, if you want to make a case for OK, let's talk about the size of house you get for a certain amount of money or how well you get paid relative to cost of living. For some those two things are king, not me though.

@Landstander Sorry to hear about all the crap places you've had to live. Personally, I like mountains a lot, so none of those places are overly appealing to me. Denver gives you the illusion of mountain fun but the reality is it's always an hour or two away if you live in the city. I'm just talking trash, the people in OK are awesome but the actual place is freaking boring as hell for a guy that likes what I do. Motorcycle riding, snowboarding, mountain biking etc... I have no allegiance to OK, I'm a holdover from the Supersonic days that didn't live in the Northwest so I wasn't butt hurt when they moved. I'll root for this team if they move to Norfolk, Virginia. The league pass doesn't care.
@BallSoHard http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bz5p2ly This is almost what it would feel like to find out your job just moved to Oklahoma. Not quite OKC, I quite like OKC, more like Ponka City or Bartlesville.
@BallSoHard @wudmonster Good memory. You must eatsleepbreathThunder, Oh wait, different guy. My bad. In the grand world of worst places to live, Oklahoma ain't bad at all, in the grand world of places I really want to live, Oklahoma ain't so great. I've traveled and seen more of Oklahoma than most people from the state, people are friendly and polite, it has the cultural diversity of a bag of wonder bread though. I'll take your suggestion though since it'll be easier to comprehend.
I will trade watching Thunder games on TV and not living in Oklahoma over live games any day. Just saying!
@<--Not About Dat Lyfe Did I say defend? No. Did I say abuse anyone down low? Yes. As in, no one can stop him down low. Clear enough?

@<--Not About Dat Lyfe ????? That's exactly what he's been doing for the last two years. You watch any games of his? Range out beyond the the point line and he can finish on the block with either hand. Any one in the league that could slow him down on the block surely wouldn't like to follow him out to three point range and leave kd down low one on one. Basketball involves strategy and tactics which are dictated by the pieces involved. KD, Russ and Love on one side of the floor would be easy points if guarded straight up or wide open shots for the other two players if they doubled. Ibaka and Martin don't do that for us now.
@ZachCollums IMO it's a no brainer. OK could throw in some picks to sweeten the pot and start saving for ring display cases for the homes. If you project Miami as the team okc will have to beat the next two or three years to win, I can't dream up a better way to match up against them. It would take advantage of their weak interior d without comprising okc's ability to match up on d.
@<--Not About Dat Lyfe @Tronchaser @MisterJohnsonOKC Basketball is a game of match ups, big lineups love could stretch the floor for Westbrook and Durant because of his outside shooting, small line ups he could abuse any one in the league down low, including bosh and lebron.
@ZachCollums Martin is a stop gap and on the last year OKC can afford a fourth guy making 10+ mil, Ibaka gets a 10 mil raise next year. He just would be filler salary because of the disparity between Ibaka and Love's contracts. Same with Jj. He does bring championship experience though.
@OBoy Jones III @justin_mia http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a5ap344

@SolidLenin8 http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=a5ap344 that's how you make it happen, some picks too.
@ZachCollums Love couldn't play center against bosh? We wouldn't have Sefalosha to match up with wade? Kd and westbrook don't drive the lane? Ibaka guards stretch fours well now? Kd and Westbrook don't dominate on the post now? I'm not sure where you're going with half your points, but I do know that no one can guard either lebron or kd, westbrook is better than wade as of this moment and love would man handle bosh on the blocks and be an even better rebounder and outside shooter than Ibaka both now and down the road. I'll give up some help d for unstoppable offense and a roster that could take advantage of any mismatch given to them from any where on the court.
@ou_sas My bad. Realistic options. I forgot that one critical word.
@ZachCollums Who does Miami have down low to defend? No one is debating whether Love could replace Ibaka on D, the answer is obvious. The question is who could stop the Thunder? Love is better than average on D and wouldn't be some monumental drop off from Ibaka. On the other end of the floor it would absolutely be a monumental shift in options though. Most of your arguments were the same ones levied towards Miami last year too. Just saying.
@ou_sas nor am I a jj fan. See if you can get other options to work.
@ZachCollums I could care less about projections. What were the projections on the Lakers roster this year ? You gotta give something up to get something. Westbrook, Durant and Love would be unstoppable and would blow Miami's big three away, who happen to be "projected" to win this years title. Martin's a rental what better way to get great value for him? Unless you believe he'll resign for 7-8 mill next year.

*not allow me to believe*
@f5alcon @yayowulf As of late the Lakers deals aren't looking so lopsided. Remember, they gave up Marc Gasol for Pau. Who got the better end of that deal now? Dwight isn't close to his former self in Orlando, so the jury is still out on that one. My bias against the Lakers does allow me to believe they could pull out enough assets to get love, if for no other reason than Minnesota lacking any awful contracts they absolutely have to get rid of.
@AdamMueller @EddieJones @f5alcon True on the salary part but it leaves little room for any bench players and I'm too impatient to wait two years. I'm sure Presti has been doing calculations and making inquiries already. He'd be a fool not to.
@PerkPunt Disagree on the love = no defense. Winning rings isn't about regular season stats (#1 offense). A three man game of Durant, Westbrook and love (all guys that can abuse defenders from inside or outside and pass) would far outweigh any defensive liability IMO. I love Ibaka but Love is a once in a generation type of talent.
Ibaka, Maynor, filler to match salaries and a pick or two for Love! Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five...
@justin_mia Ibaka is on a rookie contract this year. Ibaka at >6mil this year and @12 next looks better to me than 90% of the league at his position. The easier answer is, with contract in mind and going forward, Love and Griffin are the only guys I'd trade Ibaka for. LMA would get my attention too but it'd have to be a sweet deal. Ibaka's game has too much potential to give him up for less.
1 year, 11 months ago on Lost in Help: On Serge Ibaka’s room to grow
@SoCal Thunder Isn't the whole reason Perk is on the team is to not have to resort to those tactics? Maybe hack some after you're already in the penalty, seems counterproductive to do it before that point unless you have no one to defend him.
@rednuht trolling today? I wonder if he's still doubting Ibaka's contract? Shucks, maybe if we had Javale McGee's contract we'd be 19-0. Even better, let's give up Ibaka, Collison and Sefalosha for Chris Bosh's contract.
Can't agree more that come next season Ibaka is gonna look like a steal at 12 mil per year. Hell, he already does and he's not getting anything close to that this year.
Three years of Thabo schooling Harden on D in practice is gonna show tonight. IMO, Thabo is gonna be the guy having the eff you game tonight. I expect Harden going into hero mode at the first sign of Houston lagging. He might be up to the challenge but I think his twenty three year old playing superstar tendencies will come out. Harden will get big numbers on inefficient percentages tonight. Go Thunder!

Violent thoughts go through my mind when people compare Kobe and Westbrook. Kobe is an egomaniac that few players ever say good things about other than work ethic and competitiveness. Westbrook, unlike Kobe, is only doing exactly what his team asks and doing it in a manner that is obviously well respected and appreciated by teammates. Not saying he has no flaws but his hero ball tendencies are a candle to Kobe's supernova. At the same point in their careers/age, the comparison is flat out idiotic.

@rednuht Yeeeeeaaaaaahhh, you keep repeating that. It'll make sense eventually. Who's your team. You comments are making me question your ability to have a rational conversation. K-Mart is fairly compensated, nothing more or less, Ibaka is your daddy and deserves a little more respect than that.
2 years ago on Monday Bolts – 11.19.12
Looks like a list of 27 other players that didn't have two elite scorers who needed very little in the set up department on their team. His assists will go up this year now that Harden is gone. Assists by nature are a relatively subjective stat anyways. The fact that OKC has one of the most efficient offenses in the league and he's the point guard on that team speaks volumes to me.@Crow
@JeremyBrewer @rednuht @Jooseppi Exactly what Jeremy said, you'll see.
@rednuht Ibaka makes 2.5 mill this year and 12.5 for the next four after that. K-mart + Ibaka's production this year is a no brainer for the money this year. Ibaka + five million dollar role player for the next four is as well in my opinion. But you know what they say about opinions...
@rednuht Try passing that comment past some Cavs fans.
@rednuht Doesn't Ibaka's contract not kick in till next year? I thouht this was the last year on his rookie contract. Doesn't change any of my points but if true, add a couple million to the differences in pay to all the guys you mentioned.
1-3 million gets you a very nice complimentary player. Think of Eric Maynor and what he brings to the table before you discount the difference Ibaka gets payed between the guys you mentioned. Better team defense than Ibaka? That's just crazy talk. The teams defense is built around Ibaka's freakish abilities. There are only a couple guys in the league you can say that about and you didn't mention any of them. Ibaka's contract is absolute money and every GM in the league wishes they had it. @rednuht @JeremyBrewer
@rednuht I'm calling BS on that comment. every guy you named either makes 3-5 million more or has massive flaws in their game. If you'd trade Ibaka's defensive skills for another scorer on this team than I'd argue you're missing the point of what makes OKC so effective. Athletiscm and flexibility is what has gotten us this far and won Miami a championship last year. Tha said, I do support getting Kevin Love at all costs, including trading Ibaka and every prospect and draft pick we have. I secretly dreamed Westbrook/Harden and Ibaka would net Love in a trade this offseason. Good thing Presti is smarter than me.
@rednuht Name a guy that does those things in the 10-13 million range that doesn't have multiple flaws in their game. For the money, the guy is an amazing fit for what the Thunder need. Those four to eight defensive lapses he makes up for every game easily covers for his relative lack of low post, back to the basket shots he doesn't create. I just don't know of a guy in the league that is close in age and salary that would fit the team needs better. Please point one out for me if you know any.
@rednuht ... the most dominate player at his position in the league. ... a constant mismatch no matter who is guarding him. ... a point guard that has had the scoring champ on his team for three consecutive seasons. ... a player that has NEVER missed a game in his career. ... a guy that opposing bigs get out of his way so they can avoid being put on a Jordan poster. ... a guy that never, ever, ever quits. ...the motherfu@#ing Honey Badger is what you get!
Ibaka's contract is questionable? In what context? His contract is a steal if you look at production from his position at his salary. I agree on Perk's contract but choose to look at him as more of a defensive coach and cheerleader. It helps take the edge off his terrible production. @rednuht @Jooseppi
@rednuht @Jax Raging Bile Duct Personally, I love the fact that the Thunder have not one but two guys that can hero ball on any night against any team and get a win. In a perfect worlds it wouldn't be needed but it sure is a nice luxury to have. Three was excessive, two is just right. This team is showing balance this year that only showed up a couple times all of last season. There is still a lot of work to do in that department but the improvement is leaving it's mark everywhere you look.
Enough with the 'Westbrook isn't a point guard' talk. If he was this team wouldn't be nearly as dynamic as they are. Every other team in the league wish's their point guard could score like Westbrook and the only one that doesn't wishes their point guard could actually play a whole season. Indestructable point guards that put up 30 on any night, rebound like a power forward and still average 7-8 assists a game simply don't exist other than the Honey Badger. Stop hating, it makes you look foolish. Take the good with the bad and accept that it's a whole package. Sam Presti picked him over Harden and he's much smarter than you.
Damn, there are some lonely folks in Thunder land. Play by play on the comment section. I had no idea.

@kennygee90 @Lost OnesAnd when was the last time an old team with no bench won a ring?
2 years ago on Thunder Player Power Rankings: Sergeing
@kennygee90 @Lost Ones Sorry man, the Lakers are just old. It's a new day in the NBA and slow plodding teams that can't play transition D don't go very far any more. LA will be competitive but between the bench being terrible and the lack of speed and youth, the Lakers days are numbered. I can't wait to see LA try to play D'antoni's offense against the Thunder. Transition highlight reels for all the Thunder on that night! Dwight Howard would scare me if OKC didn't have Kryptonite starting at the 5 spot. Nash and Kobe highly skilled but old, Pao can't carry a team and the rest of the team is a lineup of guys that were really good in 2004.
The AARP Lakers just got a race car driver to drive their old worn out tractor. This should be exciting!
@Lamb Fries (AKA Bry Bry) True enough. But a lot of times that offense broke down and he bailed them out hero balling. Not saying it was his fault, just that it's more of a team effort this year. IMO, it leaves the Thunder less vulnerable to going down because one of the big three didn't play well. This years team is showing a lot more balance than last years. Call me crazy but I think they'll be even better than last years finals team by the time the playoffs come around. Barring injury of course.
