@JoshuaCaleb75 Near perfect is the right word. The SNES is what it is because Nintendo decided to make 3 completely amazing and out of this world experiences in three completely different styles.
I'll give Yoshi's Island 3 flaws: The mole control, Poochie and MAYBE auto-scrolling stages. That's it. Everything else is perfect. AND THE BOSS FIGHTS! Best boss fight lineup in platformers EVER and one of the best final boss of all time.
If you asked me to write a book on a single game, Yoshi's Island would be it.

I don't know what to say. I just don't... Why isn't Yoshi's Island winning? WHYYYY? I feel like ranting so much. But in the spirit of RAGGD I will not say anything. You all brought great games, and I will give you an earful April 9th.

The more I think about this showdown, the more it reminds me of the time I brought a small box of donut holes (Timbits in metric) to the office thinking I was gonna make people happy, but when I arrived, somebody had already brought 2 dozens of donuts... Poor @NintendoLegend. I know your pain and humiliation. Except, you know, donut holes are actually good.

@OcarinaOfTom One man will save us all. One man, armed with only a gigantic hammer and a bag full of snarky retorts.
I don't know why, but I almost didn't expect this to be so fleshed out on the first chapter.
Just reading this spans soooooo many ideas with every character you created (adapted?). I guess it shows how well you presented them. Oh and :1. This is exactly how I remember the GMZ offices. Thinking about it makes my shins hurt.
2. We need to do a @ArcadeErrorWin appreciation day some day. He is a wizard.

Welcome back! While I'm far from the fighting game fan or the marvel fan, there's something special about these Capcom/Marvel games. They just look and feel like good games, no matter if you're a fan or not. I have awesome memories of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 in the arcade. One of the few games I have a fond arcade memory of.

@Atsinganoi I just recall the laser sounds being overused and the goblins screaming like cat in heat. But it's been a while.

@Atsinganoi They were rereleased on the Sega CD. Some people told me to buy it there instead.
3 weeks, 6 days ago on Game Overkill – Shining Force
Now that I'm not in the post anymore, I can complain without restraint.
- It takes too long to get spells that target every enemy which makes every battle a pain especially against weak enemies
- The puzzles are a joke and most of the dungeons are bland except one that is so adrenaline inducing that everything else just looks worse in comparison
- The western feeling is there in the music... yeah... that's it. I wish I could say the costumes too, but the graphics aren't good enough to show me.
- There's next to no extra content
- That princess is probably one of the worst female protagonist out there
- All in all, I don't remember jack shit about it
- From memory, it had some of the worst sounds in jRPG history. I'm sure Pierre can name some Atari games with better sound
- The music is phenomenal
- The airship controls like the Asteroids ship and that is effin' awesome!
Having played one of the Game Gear Shining Force, I know I will like this one. Almost picked it up too the other day... Good post Pierre. I was kinda missing Game Overkill.
Wow, another tactical RPG starring a male protagonist? Whatever... I'll keep to my Vacuum Repair Rogue 2 : Suck harder

A vote for Fuzion Frenzy is BASICALLY a vote for Halo: Combat Evolved. Really a good enough game and argument to make me almost forget all that Québec bashing. ALMOST. Espèce de tarla... M'a t'en faire des territoires
This is exactly what I meant. I had been meaning to do something like this for a while. As for your Final Fantasy pick, don't worry about FFVII. Some people would argue (mainly me) that Cloud/Aerith was never really a relationship. I'm guessing a lot more people would direct you to FFVIII, but I'd go over to FFVI. The lost relationship between Locke and Rachel was so strong, that he spends most of the game compensating for it.
As for some other picks (sorry I'm allowing myself a long comment since it's the theme I suggested):
Wild Arms 2 had a pretty awesome romance going on. Especially since the main love interest isn't a protagonist.
Final Fantasy Tactics' manipulative relationship between Delita and the Princess is probably tragic enough for you. Probably.
That's probably all I have. See? That's why I made you do the list!

Can't remember the games I had for Christmas... I do remember getting Yoshi's Island one year. I didn't even want it, but my parents bought it nonetheless. I received a remote car race track the same year. By the time my father gave up and started installing the track, I was up to world 3-8.

Hesitation... Do I vote for one of my favorite games in Super Mario RPG? Or do I vote for my favorite Mario Party in an attempt to shove it in people's faces yelling that it's the best and no one can argue that? Decisions decisions.
In any case, the N64? Not a console? WHAAAAAT?As for the listener question, it's funny Alex mentioned my Spyro talk to someone because, in the end, my view is that Spyro is a very average game, but does fit the mascot criteria for the youth of the time. It kind of bridges your whole conversation. People followed their affinities with the mascots more than they followed their consoles. Even now, Sony Fanboys are probably the less prominent group. Those who are aren't Crash and Spyro fans, they're Ratchet, Kratos and Devil May Cry fans.
