@d21 So in one breath people point to how veteran teams win more games and in the next breath people point to Brooks being overly stubborn by playing veterans when games are on the line.

In games adjustments are only recognized when they deemed to be successful. I've noticed that Brooks gets a lot of criticism for sticking with the players he trusts and very little acknowledgement for adjustments made.

Brooks has been coaching for 7 years, the idea that he doesn't make adjustments or isn't strategic is just absurd.

"This team has outgrown him"- Nice catch phrase, but I don't see the evidence of this.

@We Tanked for Frank(ed) @rednuht @Old Man Game @mattchant There is no evidence that they do tune him out. All coaches give players room to make decisions in the moment and be a part of the strategy.

@mattchant @We Tanked for Frank(ed) @jetmet @rednuht @Old Man Game This is what bad decision makers do. Good decision makers get good coaches and worry less about style. Players respond to good coaching.

@We Tanked for Frank(ed) @jetmet @rednuht @Old Man Game @mattchant The players see a partner in their goal, that is why they want him to stay.

@Es Wild *team we want our spot back* @rednuht @mattchant Who has a better playoff winning percentage, Carlisle or Brooks?

The problem with getting more out of players is that expectations are fluid they evolve. We view Durant and Westbrook as MVP candidates and super stars because that is what they are now, but they weren't always viewed that way, even by Thunder fans.

Coaches are judged by their ability to win games. Beyond this criteria are things that seem to matter less.

@_justin @rednuht @mattchant I think paying the tax this season was a purposeful choice. Presti wanted to change the national media narrative for this Summer and couldn't have done that without paying the tax.

The team would have been worse with Lamb in Waiters role this year. Taking a risk on Waiters to help get the team in the playoffs this year with the hope that Durant was going to return healthy was worth it.

@Es Wild *team we want our spot back* @rednuht @mattchant The only current coach who doesn't face enormous criticism for every decision made is Pop. Everyone else, even if those you mentioned are questioned constantly.

How do you categorize a great coach? Wins, championships, winning a game they should have lost because of 1 of 200 decisions made in a game? Development of young players? Do the players play hard consistently?

Which of the above categories does Brooks qualify within?

@_justin @rednuht @mattchant The team has not been desperate with Presti and Brooks and the injuries to key players and the sheer amount of injuries forced some risk taking.

Did any of the decisions that Presti made prevent the team from competing next year?

@Old Man Game @rednuht @mattchant How long has Pop been on the job? Is there any evidence that players are tuning Brooks out?

A new voice can be good or a new voice can be disruptive and harmful. Is there clearly an available voice that could walk in and instantly earn the players respect and do a better job than Brooks?

@mattchant @rednuht The offensive system is set up to allow Durant and Westbrook to use their individual offensive brilliance. The plays and system have adapted over the years as the two main usage players mature and realize the importance of ball movement, of when to pass and when to shoot.  Brooks uses his best players to their best effect and the result when players are healthy is one of the best offenses in the league.
