@GREENE1148 Success builds trust. Laker fans trust their front office to put things together and so Julius Randle must be one of the best players in the draft.

@Crow Like Presti, I think RJ and Pop worry about their own house and not what everyone else is doing. Don't you think RJ and Pop got themselves into trouble by going for a championship with the signing of Richard Jefferson and realized that staying true to building from within with younger players was the right way to go?

@yarkmu @Perk-Punt I don't think players ever flatline. I don't think we can answer the questions of the value of Lamb and PJ3 until the end of this season.

@yarkmu @rednuht @Perk-Punt I disagree. I think finding guys who can produce what Reggie did last year is not difficult, but to say that Reggie is easily replaceable ignores what makes him unique and a candidate to get paid next summer.

Not every player can get to the rim at will and finish in this league. Perhaps because we have Westbrook we take it for granted, but it's pretty special.

@yarkmu @rednuht This is why I think you wait on Jackson. He may want to start for a team, regardless of salary, but despite public comments in this realm, he also likes playing for this team, he likes winning and if he gets paid, he's playing a lot of minutes and will have a major role.

If the only hurdle is whether Jackson starts or not with the Thunder, that might just work itself out naturally, to where both parties are satisfied.

And if it doesn't then the worst case scenario is you match and trade or you get a good size TPE or some value and move on.

If the Thunder win the championship and Jackson is an important part of that process, then isn't he worth Bledsoe money to us?

@McLasch @yarkmu Assuming Jackson is offered something similar to Bledsoe and Presti matches, what is the worst case scenario moving forward?

@yarkmu @rednuht I'd put Bayless at about 3/8 of Reggie's effectiveness. With Durant and Westbrook, I just don't think the SG role is as important to upgrade, but I get it.

Middleton was kind of a piece of gold in a field of terds last year for Milwaukee.   I think they're very high on him.

@yarkmu This seems like a band aid fix to Durant being out, but what happens in the playoffs? Is Middleton buried on the bench and are we relying on Bayless as the third shot creator?

@Keith00 Which player represents the couple of million in salary that we would shed to stay below the tax?

Would I use Sefolosha's TPE to acquire Dudley and go over the tax? No.

Would I trade a young prospect to create room under the tax? No.

Trading for Dudley at the deadline reduces his salary cap hit and gives us time to properly evaluate PJ3. My instinct is we have been patiently developing PJ3, he has worked hard and now has a an opportunity for consistent minutes. Trust the system, let's see what we really have.

@Tvaddic I don't remember the voting results last year beyond Durant, but I though Blake was a top 3 or 4 in the MVP race.

Although I have a great amount of respect for Paul, I don't really see him as an MVP type player. He's never been able to transcend his game/impact to that level through a whole season.

Presti understands he can match any RFA offer to Jackson and if Jackson states he wants to move on, then he can sign and trade him.

@duhsweetness There is nothing instantly gratifying about developing players through the draft.  We have been programed by those who run NBA franchises that drafted players may not develop at all, that the draft is  an unknown science and player development is a kind of voodoo.

Off season commentators only make judgements on what happened during a particular offseason.  There are never mentions about previously drafted players still in development, because those players are treated as some sort of mystery.

@OBoy (LaFamilia) @rednuht I'm trying to ascertain if there is something unique happening here or just running the offense through your SF?

When Magic played pg, teams put their pg on Byron Scott who was only about 6'-4" and not a threat to post up. If Milwaukee plays small around Giannis, you just switch your defenders and hope you have a SF who can defend the dribble. If Milwaukee puts a big SG and SF beside Giannis this is something unique.

@SeinfeldOKC [Seinfeldtinder] I agree with Justin, I think Brooks goes with a 10 man rotation which if you look back is common for Brooks for the first 20 games coming out of camp.

I agree Telfair isn't in the rotation with a healthy roster, but will likely see time to start the season.

Reply

@DanielLawler @rednuht It seems to be more of a mindset to not give up the easy basket, than just willful fouling. He can play defense without fouling if he's not being targeted, but he'll sacrifice a foul to prevent an easy basket if one of the perimeter players gets beat.  I think he's smart of enough to control his fouls most nights.

@DanielLawler @rednuht Adams still get lost on some rotations, but only experience and continued development is going to improve that. He's still choosing the foul over protecting himself from foul trouble, but we'll see how that evolves.

1 week ago on Five questions on what Kevin Durant’s injury means

Reply

@DanielLawler @rednuht Lots of scoring in the paint, but the numbers aren't as impressive as his improved timing in the pick and roll, his effort to become a target down low both in the half court and in transition and his touch within 6 feet of the basket is even more impressive than last season and his movement into a shot is very purposeful and smooth. No wasted motion, no extra dribbles, no bringing the ball down low.

In my mind Adams has gone from a player who can have an impact if left alone like Perkins often is to a player that has to be guarded. We should have a chance to see if the improvement is for real against Memphis.

@DanielLawler You can have minutes of it without starting them together. Morrow comes in for Roberson  in a first substitution.

1 week ago on Five questions on what Kevin Durant’s injury means

@Durantacula I think if you want to relieve pressure from Westbrook to be everything to the team, then you must insert a second creator into the starting line up. One option is Jackson and the other is Lamb.

Jackson is the most reliable player and is the best prospect to offer consistent production. This means that Telfair becomes part of the rotation and likely another point guard whether Jenkins or someone else is signed until Durant returns.

Roberson maintains a spot in the lineup as a designated wing defender.

The need for more offense in the starting line up is just another reason for Brooks to go with Adams at center.

Westbrook, Jackson, Roberson, Ibaka, Adams.

Morrow, Lamb, PJ3, Collison, Telfair

In this line up, Westbrook and Jackson can set each other up as well as the rest of the team. Roberson will take the opposing teams best wing. Adams will be given as much pick and roll as he can handle. Ibaka will be given more opportunity to create off the dribble or in the post.

Westbrook, Jackson and Lamb are now the shot creators and 2 of the 3 will always be on the court unless Telfair surprises.

Players have expanded roles, but no one is asked to do too much more than what they are capable of.
