@d21 If Taylor had given Love the full 5 year max he'd still be in a Timberwolves jersey and Saunders would have another year to build a playoff roster.
Now Minnesota is back to hope and potential.

@Perk-Punt I would list them how you have them. Ellis played very well in Dallas last year, but teams weren't beating down his FA door when Dallas signed him and I don't think they would in the future. The battle of the Greens would be very close.

@Perk-Punt @rednuht McCollum is healthy. Maybe Blake is better, but I don't think he's as dangerous as Williams. Sometimes in the playoffs you need an irrational confidence guy to make a difference. Blake is steady, but I don't think he is a difference maker.
@Butterfingers The Spurs bench has more experience.
@Perk-Punt Was he? They had Mo Williams int he position last year and have McCollom developing. Blake always seems to look better on paper. With Mo you might be afraid he would get streaky hot from beyond the arc, with Blake what are you worried about? Has he ever really made a team better?
@Butterfingers Because Mills has been killing it for years? Continuity, putting players in a position to succeed and opportunity.
@Butterfingers Because he has it all? Once we have him coming off the bench does he still have it all?
@okcjim Lowry is also a special case. Was on the verge of burning yet another bridge in Toronto about to be traded to NY, when he put it all together. If you're Toronto you're hoping he doesn't pull a Trevor Ariza and disappear until his next contract year.
Bledsoe is coming of a knee injury in which his meniscus ligament was removed, missed a significant portion of last season, is a RFA who plays on a team with a superior pg.
I think the idea that there are so many talented point guards that the result will be that their price tags will be reduced because of it is incorrect. Still plenty of teams looking for a pg upgrade and talent typically gets paid.
Presti typically likes to control a situation and if Jackson goes to RFA he loses some control and if he goes to UFA Presti losses all control.
@okcjim The MLE is all that will be available once Perkins contract expires, still won't have any cap space. Sign and trade? What are we giving up?
@Butterfingers He has the wingspan of a man 6'-8" or bigger and the weight of many SG's.
@okcjim Replacing him with a veteran or a rookie? If you would, name at least 3 veteran players that could be obtained in FA next summer for the MLE to replace Jackson.
@Butterfingers This summer showed that Morey is willing to sacrifice depth for talent and not matching Parsons was strategic, so Morey could find the cap space if he wanted Jackson.
@okcjim We could replace him with a more limited defender, a worse outside shooter and poor slasher in Lamb!
I don't think you can trade Jackson before the end of the season. This years team needs him.
@OBoy (LaFamilia) Old ideologies of you already have a better player at the same position and your shooting guard is Thabo Sefolosha or Andre Roberson so clearly you trade Jackson for an upgrade at SG.
@TaoMaas Agreed, but I think we've seen how the dynamic changes for most players if their role is to come off the bench. There seems to also be a psychology at play here.
To be honest, I'm not sure where Jackson stands or even if he knows yet, but if another team is willing to start him and pay him more the decision for him becomes easier. He'll have confidence in himself that he can help a new situation become a winning environment.
@Butterfingers Lots of coaches strategize in game to let Evans shoot. Ball movement stops, his teammates stand around and the teams defensive energy goes down. Giving Evans a mismatch has historically not been such a bad idea. Evans best his numbers and his team typically losses.
@F_Boogie There was and is a lot of talk about how Harden wanted his own team and I can't help but wonder if Jackson would also like his own team.
@epicurean Do they have alternative but to listen to offers?
@shiki @Butterfingers I don't think anyone is debating whether a cheap choice can be found. I would however debate whether a cheap veteran choice at the position is the right way to go.
We don't always have a way to measure the importance of a players importance to the team, but we will with Reggie this year. It will be interesting to see how this conversation evolves over the course of the year.
@Butterfingers At the same money, I'd take Reggie. If of course he would want to stay.
@Perk-Punt @rednuht @shiki Back injury questions? I think most gm's can easily talk themselves into Jackson despite any decision making issues we think he might have.
1 week, 4 days ago on KD says he’s the best scorer in the league and talks Team USA
@shiki @rednuht I think you might be surprised.
@Butterfingers If you have Monroe at 35 mpg, is there any point of keeping Adams? The development of Adams changes dramatically if you bring in someone like Monroe.
Keeping Monroe also insures there is no money for Jackson so he's gone as well.
@Perk-Punt @rednuht @Butterfingers Agreed. Harden earned a max deal as a sixth man. That is pretty impressive.
I'm not sure I'd say Nick owns the second unit, he was obviously willing to give up ownership to Harden. I think the second unit is Reggie's for the taking, all the circumstances are there for Reggie to take another step.
@Butterfingers Is it just Perk? Or is it Perk, Adams and Jackson?
@Perk-Punt @rednuht @shiki I don't think it's having to pull a James Harden. Jackson has prototypical size and athleticism, great character and enough skill/production for teams to safely risk $9M+ over 4 years.
@Butterfingers I'll disagree again. I'll say his decision making will be the key. When he shoots, when he passes, does he really start to lead when he's on the floor.
@shiki I think you're wrong. I think there are plenty of teams that will have cap space and will see Reggie as a potential core player.
@propsizzle @Perk-Punt @Perk has a lot of value I don't think the question is whether the addition of Monroe makes the team better, but why what measure?
1 week, 5 days ago on Wednesday Bolts – 8.20.14
@Perk-Punt @rednuht @Perk has a lot of value Yes, but Monroe doesn't have the speed that Davis would have coveted, so …...
@Butterfingers Who is a poor fit alongside Ibaka?
@Perk has a lot of value Are you suggesting that ownership intervene and dictate that Presti go after Monroe ?
@L0rv @Marko (Lacoste baby) In this context is 36.5% close to 40%?

@Perk-Punt @rednuht @ThabeetsGoldSpot @okcjim I think its the defensive potential of Jones that will get him floor time.
I'm struggling to see how Lamb fits. I like him more as a player than when he was drafted, but although it is clear what he needs to provide to play more I'm not sure he is either willing or simply capable of doing it. Physically he is capable, it is the mental preparation that seems to continue to be lacking.
@Crow Best hope for Seattle is expansion. Ballmer is one additional owner likely to vote yes. NBA has decided it doesn't want teams to move at this point and so they will not.
@okcjim Westbrook is willing to set up Serge and has been willing to set up set shooters in the past, so Morrow makes sense to me. The evolution of Westbrook and Jackson together could be one of the more interesting developments of the season.
@Perk-Punt @ThabeetsGoldSpot @okcjim Can we or will Brooks attempt to play Morrow and Lamb together? Seems like an opportunity for Jones.
@ThabeetsGoldSpot @okcjim Would you bring in Jackson and Morrow as the first substitutions for Roberson and Perkins, leaving a line up of Westbrook, Jackson, Morrow, Durant and Ibaka for 4-5 minutes of the last part of the first quarter?
@okcjim It would be a big rotation change for Durant and Westbrook to be on the bench at the same time, much less any length of time.
@GlendaGonzales @rednuht @Crow @Lost Ones Are you currently placed where you should be based on your talents?
2 weeks, 4 days ago on Thursday Bolts – 8.14.14
@GlendaGonzales @rednuht @Crow @Lost Ones The talent pecking order can be seen a number of ways. Minutes played, playing at critical junctures, amount of touches, having plays called for you, contract.
@GlendaGonzales @rednuht @Crow @Lost Ones Tennis aside from doubles is not a team sport. The dynamic changes dramatically. This team is built around Durant and Westbrook. It's not simply about who is better, but who allows Durant and Westbrook to be better along with everyone else.
I don't view this as a static or fixed equation, but a evolving one. The team dynamic evolves as the players and systems evolve.
@Jabb0310 @rednuht @GlendaGonzales @Crow @Lost Ones Jackson has also stated he wants to start and his goal is to be the best point guard in the game and at other times that he is happy in the organization.
I have to assume that Presti has had discussions about an extension, but as usual that news is quiet.
@KD4theWin @ Luke @rednuht A big part of defense for big men is being in the right place and simply using your size as a deterrent. Perkins still does this well. Adams has a habit of being over aggressive and getting out of "team" defensive position. There's nothing that can help Adams quicker than game experience.
@GlendaGonzales @rednuht @Crow @Lost Ones Individual ego is a part of the game. Some players are capable of suppressing their egos for the betterment of team dynamics and some simply are not. I'm not sure which camp Jackson falls into at this time.
The history of team dynamics is littered with examples of players who started but didn't close. Such a dynamic is not unusual and happens on many teams.
@GlendaGonzales @Crow @Lost Ones The team isn't going to shore up a small weakness if it creates a bigger weakness in the process. Starting Jackson forces too many bigger weaknesses to the forefront and the added benefit is relatively small. Closing with Jackson makes much more sense.
@ Luke With Adam's lack of experience, I don't expect him to be the same player out of training campo that he will be going into next years playoffs. The question is what role and minutes will he earn in the process.
If I was Brooks I would be very tempted to start Adams to start the season. It opens up many more rotation options and has the greatest chance at improving the team's play. I understand the worry about how the defense will be effected, but the first 20 games of a season are a feeling out process anyway, there is some room to try new things and evaluate the results.
@GlendaGonzales @Joo_seppi @Half International Man of Mystery Half Amazing @gokudabest According to some Nick Collison is over the hill.
