Humor and a lesson in Facebook profiles and marketing. Damn, what a fine piece... of content.

@ginidietrich And well-timed. I have to discuss with a client this morning why the more contextual elements of website copy I just wrote -- and he edited out -- need to stay in, based on the content program he says he wants to do in 2014. This helps.

Nice roundup on the topic, Gini.
@KenMueller @LizJostes You talk about internal cultures. True that Micky D's was a majority share holder in Chipotle, but they divested itself of those holdings entirely. Partly, from what I read, because the cultures of the two companies were not simpatico.

Ken, great examples and thanks for highlighting these chains' individual efforts.
A question: When you write, "They’re not completely “there” yet, but they are close, and they are moving in the right direction..." what do you see as the point of "arrival"for them? What would that look like if you were to write a follow up piece a few years down the road?
@martinwaxman @rustyspeidel I don't think it's completely a matter of finding a way to cut through "clutter". Creativity and timing have a hand in that. I believe it still comes down to understanding an objective, developing a strategy and executing with finely honed tactics. Agencies need to adopt a range of new skills sets and demonstrate the experience using them. There are agencies, but proof of their growth, that are moving in this direction.

@ginidietrich @BobReed Amazing, isn't it?

Gini, don't forget leveraged sharing. One of the most underused distribution pathways is using all this hard-won content to influence prospects I recently ask a client if they're using the blog posts I wrote in follow-up communication to sales targets, and said he never would have thought to use them that way.
@Sean McGinnis @BobReed I'll call you tomorrow.

Holy schnikes, Sean! Congratulations!
Rock solid, Sean. Nice to see inclusion of the the customer care component. So many smaller to medium-szied B2B companies overlook this all too important source.

How many times can these people seemingly write the same book over and over and over again? Every time I see a new title I think of a single word: derivative. I'm better off reading one-off case histories of real companies doing real work on Marketing Profs and Marketing Sherpa.

Wow! How did i miss this news? Oh, man... I can't believe I just wrote that.
What a logical extension of the "Gini" brand. Makes total sense that you'd write something like this. Looking forward to it!

Hi, Nick. Nice to meet you! The dog thing around here happens several times a day. Just no camera to catch it.

@Lisa Gerber @ginidietrich It makes me shake my head. They do themselves, and us, a disservice. It doesn't move the profession forward. I haven't done a media relations campaign in years.

@Lisa Gerber @jasonkonopinski @thejoshuawilner Evernote is great. I'm just waiting for Evernote to post the Apple Script video before I can switch over.

I'm going to my first Toastmasters meeting tonight. Nothing replaces good preparation and practice, but, like anything else, doing more of it consistently breeds familiarity and confidence. Here's the ironic part: I was a speech major in college. But, as I said, if you don't use the instrument, you forget how to play.

Besides clear communication and managing expectations, this demonstrates ignorance on the part of Samsung. And that information deficit goes straight to the top. Samsung's lawyers waited three days to tell the CEO that it lost the recent Apple lawsuit. The CEO reacted very poorly. One of the biggest tech stories of the year and this guy didn't know what was going on? Begs the question of how big a bubble these people live in.
