Great article Marcus!
Simmons put on about 20lbs since college (he was still listed at 228 on the Colts' practice squad last year). He's one of my sleepers for camp. Really long arms.
1 year, 6 months ago on Colts Training Camp Preview: Outside Linebacker
Well said Kyle, as always. Pistol concepts mean nothing when it comes to whether or not the QB is running the option. It's just a formation. It doesn't necessarily expose your QB to danger nor necessarily mean anything about a requirement for a running QB.

Nice write up Ben - appreciate these a ton. Very curious to see what you'd have to say on one for Ricky Jean-Francois. He'll likely be around longer than Aubrayo anyway.

@7IHd He's got the ability, but I here's his try with the Cowboys a few months back: http://www.nfl.com/videos/miami-dolphins/0ap2000000056343/Cowboys-fumble-kickoff-return

@paulcareyjr Ha, oops. Should read 4.26. my bad, I'll update now! Thanks Paul!
@BDiddy Agree. Thought he was good for the offseason, but really saw no need for him to even make the team out of training camp. Also makes me chuckle when a guy's on a team for a specific role but he's not good at that role. Like a nickle LB who's bad in coverage (ahem, Ernie Sims for the 2011 Colts).... SMH

@Payton Satele's a high upside player. Younger than Saturday. We all would have loved Saturday to stick around - doesn't seem that he wanted to. Grigson commented early after arriving that they wanted him still.
2 years, 3 months ago on Analysis of Week 6 Roster Moves – Offense | October
@jimfix Arians also said yesterday that they are going to play it safe with him because they think he's got such a high upside. They don't want to jeopardize that by playing him too early. But @bradicus18 is close. From my understanding he's eligible to begin practicing next week - after week 6 of the NFL season, not after the 6th game.
2 years, 3 months ago on Analysis of Week 6 Roster Moves – Defense | October
@Payton I kind of agree but I'll defer to the coaches. There's a reason Shipley was available to go down to the Practice Squad. At the end of the day though, everyone's job should be available. If Shipley's better or more effective - he should play.
@DougEngland Per Arians' press conference yesterday, he should practice this week, but they want to ramp him up for game action. Likely to at least miss the Jets game.
@Payton Yes, I should have clarified. That would be assuming Satele comes back. He practiced fully yesterday, so I wrote it with the assumption that there's a good chance Satele is starting on Sunday.
I've never seen that video - awesome Marcus! Praying for a speedy recovery for Coach!

Missed the first part of the show. Did you guys make fun of BBS' 53-man roster projection yet? It was bad..........
Old-school, 2-TEs - title didn't make sense, but arguement in the article did. Compared the two TEs to Dilger and Pollard
@GregC Here were his points:
1) Luck's wealth of college experience will lead to instant success as a pro.
2) Bruce Arians is a masterful developer of young quarterbacks.
3) The Colts are building an "old school" offense that will be problematic for opponents.
@GregC Thinks there are WAY better chances for success than anyone is giving credit for - and I do too. Some homerism, but I have some reasons to believe it.
you see Bucky Brooks about Colts expectations article on NFL.com?

Poor Curtis Painter indeed... Ravens 3rd string QB FTW
Jamie Dukes is awful...

Great article. Just did some of my own research to see what's happened to some of the exiled Front Office staff since their dismissals to evaluate if these were good/bad/ugly decisions:
Scout Tom Gamble (2004) - Currently the 49er's Dir of Player Personnel. Operated as their Dir of Pro Personnel ever since leaving Indy in 2004. Has recently been mentioned as a possible GM candidate for Oakland since Al Davis' passing.
49ers Bio: http://www.49ers.com/team/staff/tom-gamble/17f5afbb-6679-4250-bc18-6bfb470bb433
Scout Paul Roell (2006, post draft) - Currently a Regional Scout for the Vikings, hired shortly after his dismissal from Indy. Of note is that he worked as a Scout for Indy for 15 years, so he was involved during those lean years in the early 90s...
ESPN article about his hire for Minnesota: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2472571
Director of college scouting Mike Butler (2006 after the draft) - Was hired on to be Detroit's Dir of College Scouting after leaving Indy and held that role until April 2009. Some pretty bad drafts from 2007-2009 and was likely retained by new regime just to get them through 2009 draft and jettisoned afterward. Currently the Director for 2 independent scouting consulting operations.
His LinkedIn profile: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/mike-butler/16/2a4/8a6
Scout David Caldwell (2007) - Currently Atlanta's Director of College Scouting. Hired on directly after Indianapolis tenure.
Falcons' Bio: http://www.atlantafalcons.com/roster-staffs/david-caldwell/
Coordinator of player personnel John Becker (2008) - Currently a Senior Personnel Advisor also with the 49er, but this is his first year, indicating that he hadn't worked since 2008. Remember, he, along with Cavanaugh and Anile, were let go and sold to the media as cost-saving moves during the economic troubles. Of note, he's an older guy, in fact he coached QBs in Indy from '85-'86.
49ers' Bio: http://www.49ers.com/team/staff/john-becker/29a02e99-938b-43d2-858b-2d4b25a30da9
Area scout Ryan Cavanaugh (2008) - Currently with the Texas in a similar role, had been with Indy for 8 years. Part of "cost-savings moves"
Assistant general manager/scouting Dom Anile (2009) - Currently retired, was part of "cost-savings moves" done in Spring '09.
In my analysis, the biggest losses if we're looking for "rising stars" would probably be in Tom Gamble and David Caldwell. The rest of these moves were likely done toward the end or marked the end of people's careers or in other cases, they have been scooped up by other clubs to try and capture lightning in a bottle.
Yes! They're back. Always liked reading the Five Plays Analysis "elsewhere" but have not problem reading it here where there are fewer torches and pitchforks.

Thank you SO much for posting all of this! For someone who doesn't live in state anymore it's great to have it all compiled here! There's only so much I can get from national media. Love to hear Polian talk anytime and McAfee is quickly becoming one of my favorite personalities - that kid would be a fun teammate to have around!
