My fave is the BFF's....I almost choked on my cereal I was laughing so hard. That will be me & my sister at 90, especially with the cursing. Glad you have had such a happy birthday week. Also, really glad that your mom is with you...how awesome is that? ??

Wow.wow.wow!!! They are all awesome ....love the dogs ( of course)...cried throughout the tweets & then, definitely the military returns. Can't imagine what that would feel like, but as an observer, I was overwhelmed with JOY & tears.

Thank God u saved the laughter of lip reading until the end....hilarious! I laughed so hard.

Thanks for starting my day with a mixed bag of emotions, cause that's life!!!

We are experiencing this down in south Louisiana, with The Times Picayune in New Orleans. After 175 years of publishing a daily paper, they are now going to 3 days a week, concentrating on their Nola.com website, instead. I am aware that a few friends are losing their jobs or being cut back dramatically.

The publisher for The Advocate, Doug Manship, here in Baton Rouge, came out with a statement right away, stating that their family had NO intention of cutting back on the production of it's daily newspaper. Thank gawd!!!  I am of the generation that grew up with reading the daily newspaper. I looked forward to Sunday's paper & the tiny pleasure of coffee &  reading it cover to cover. Something about the smell &  feel & print ink all over me, speaks to traditions. I am also a hold out for reading a hard copy of a book. It's that "touchy, feely (sp?) thing about me.

I pay for content by subscribing to our home town newspaper. As of yet, I have not or will not, pay for content with NYT or Washington Post, etc. It's funny that Buffett has changed his stance. But then, that's why he is The Oracle. He can do what he wants. I will still be subscribing to my local paper.

@DanGordon Yipppeee....that's what I wanted to hear...your website traffic during & after promo. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you stated. I've read the comments women leave under one of pins....yeppers, they want to show it to their significant other, boyfriend, etc., because, like me, it WOW's them. They repin to their particular board and start "following" all of your pins. Happiness....

Glad that I "pulled you into the convo"...are you subscribed to @ginidietrich blog???? I hope you will be now. Thanks, Dan, for your comments here.

@ginidietrich You already know that I'm a Pinterest addict!!! When I found it last year, I went bananas!! I'm visual and it definitely appealed to me and my creative side. What I've found is that I will see something that "grabs" me & then click through to see if the there is a website or blog that will either explain more, show tutorials or where I might purchase an item. I have an entire board devoted to "paint chips"....wall colors that I love and save. I'm certain that Benjamin Moore or Valspar don't have a clue that I will be buying their product as a direct result of pins via other folks out in the universe. (that sentence was entirely too long.) I also love the "quietness" of pinning,...not like FB, thank goodness. I see a great advantage for folks that are "selling" whatever, to pin it to a board. I have found wonderful artisans there....and lots of them link back to etsy or their personal blog/website. Yippeee...then I spend more time looking through all of their designs, etc.

When I first saw @dangordon pinning jewelry, I smiled really big & thought, yeh, great idea, Dan.

Heck, @Danny Brown even has a Pinterst button on his blog, another plus, as I see it.

And speaking of other sites, has anyone here been to Houzz.com. Similar idea but wowza...great interactions between professional architects, landscape architects, interior designers...yada....yada...yada. Check it out & let me know what you think.

I see the value in both of these, however, since we are discussing Pinterest, I LOVE it!!! I have nothing to gain monetarily , but I sure have & will buy products because of this platform.

@PJProductivity Exactly !! Talking about it, is a start. We need to have conversations around depression & suicide. btw, this is National Suicide Prevention Awareness week.

@FrankDickinson Amen, Frank. Depression is a bitch. I've been there...in that deep, dark hole. I've fought it off & on , for the last 30+ years..and oh yes, debilitating anxiety, enough so, that I don't want to go anywhere. It takes a lot to ask for help...it takes courage. It also takes courage to kill yourself. I know because I've been working (volunteer) for 15+ years in suicide prevention & intervention field and for the last 4 years w/ loved ones left behind to grieve after suicide (post=vention). I could go on about this for hours, but won't.

Thanks, @ginidietrich for writing from your heart. People generally have no idea what to say in times like this. Shock, guilt, anger.....yep, hindsight...looking back why didn't I see this?! We are busy living life....our minds aren't scanning blogs or tweets or conversations for signs of suicide & depression. It's just the truth.

From what I understand, Trey was getting help, lots of it. I'm certain this counselors are asking themselves today, "what more could I have done?"

My prayers are with his children, and his family, as they will have a long and difficult grief journey. Suicide grief is very complicated. Stigmas abound!! I hope folks stick around long enough to help his family walk that path.

I feel certain that Trey is with our heavenly Father....with the angels, Frank.

God Bless all who knew him on a much deeper level, IRL. I only knew him from his 'tweets'...

Hugging the ones I love today & everyday....as you know, @ginidietrich , I lost my youngest sister to suicide on 12/2/07...she was 54 years young.

I love you, Gini. ((((HUGS)))) from afar.

@Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing@rustyspeidel I truly believe the BIG business runs Washington and everything else. Soooo....I'm a normal American who knows that from Washington on down to local govt., we have made things waaaay too complicated.

@rustyspeidel@Soulati | B2B Social Media Marketing I don't believe there is "leadership" today and the recent squabbles in Washington over debt ceiling, etc., proved that. Rusty, I love your comments, I feel you "nailed" what is going on, as did Om Malik in his blog that @ginidietrich quoted. Last week, we talked about voting out all the folks up in Washington... (I'd love to) however, WHO will step up?? Politics is such a BIG business, in an of itself, that a grass roots campaign (unless you have a social media expert) needs to raise HUGE amounts of $$$$ to compete. So, who among us, is ready to step up to make BIG changes or who do we find??? It's been done and can be done. As for jobs??? Yes we can be trailblazers....it's taking a deep breath and putting one foot (idea) ahead of the next....I feel that as a country, we are "stuck" right now...waiting for ??? (what.). I think I might need more coffee.... loved the post "TOP Chef".

@KenMueller@wabbitoid Exactly....everyone should know that BIG business rules the world, right??? And, the "credit bubble" crisis...well, let's just say that China owns A LOT of those bad mortgages, and the paper that keeps us afloat. What a trip it would be if we were to default....China would be some happy campers, perhaps?! "Too big to understand" is what this is about.

Somehow, I just don't see the Feds treating us like the big "playahs"...which is what started all of this eons ago.

@KenMueller Exactly, Ken. I don't think BIG business is going to create the jobs we as a society need to move forward. I believe it's up to the small business owner to create & sustain jobs moving forward. It's not rocket science. We can't wait on the Feds to provide opportunities for growth, or we'll be waiting until my hair turns all gray....which could be awhile. :-) Folks w/o jobs need to up their skill sets & think "out the box." Of course, easy for me to say....harder when you have no job & don't know which road to take.
