@Stephen Densmore They start with a new authentic pair, deconstruct the uppers from the soles. Next the different panels are patterned after the original panels in the new materials and reconstructed into a new upper.

The term replica/fake is negative in every sense as shoes that are consider so are 0% authentic, made to rip off the company and consumers with lookalike lower quality merchandise.

Customs do the opposite of each of those things using 100% real shoes, and creating a piece of art with almost always superior materials, offering a consumer their favorite shoe in a 1 of a kind look...all while helping to promote the original companys brand.

Still some people may think they aren't real and they are fake and only want 100% un-touched shoes. Which there is nothing wrong but they are also the ones buying every Jordan they can and have done so as the quality goes down and the price goes up.

@Corbz  @Ellerbeezy well Dank Customs/JWDanklefs said he only used Acetone in a post on FB. Plus look at the larger images on his site: http://www.jwdanklefs.com/2013/03/custom-statue-of-liberty-dunk-by-dank.html..it is obviously not painted. As in the first pic above he probably would have gone over the stitching with paint. Any pairs you've seen with lighter brown...have likely been scrapped by skating exposing the leather with much less care, rougher, exposing further than the darker brown coating.

@Ellerbeezy nope you are correct these weren't painted. The top green layer was engraved/scraped off to reveal the brown. Kinda obvious.

Pretty cool. Hopefully this validates only more that a custom sneaker is JUST as cool if not cooler than some "limited" shoe bought from a retailer that still numbers in the THOUSANDS. Thing is customs have been just as cool for an easy 10 years....otherwise they would have faded away.

@kutsum It'll be more interesting to see how Marvel comes down on these. They previously requested two other customizer's ,whose Iron Man themes got lots of attention, to remove images, stop selling/promoting..and cease & desists if I'm not mistaken. With these being for someone of such high stature....no way Marvel is happy.

The fact that #19 is that low is pretty bad, but c'mon #1....that is a photoshop of the shoes...not the finished product. Awesome post. Oh and why not credit the customizers?
