Sometimes, specifically w/regard to those draws on X & long, it seems like Pep still thinks he's playing against college squads ... that he's expecting the opposing defense to *not* tackle well and the RB regularly rip off a long run in those situations.

Since before the days of Corey Simon, Colts fans have been dying to have legitimate play at DT. Last night, I was fairly impressed with Art Jones, Chapman, & Zack Kerr(plunk). But yeah, Grigs forgot to read the article in the papers about the NFL being a passing league.
Also, Dwayne Allen runs like a locomotive. Even slow motion replays are scary.

Dear esteemed Colts Authority staff,
Thank you for essentially wiping my Friday off the work-map. It's like other such sports-related commitments (March Madness, World Cup, etc.) that have the misfortune of happening during work hours.
Downloaded this morning w/the intent to begin reading tonight (because that's what lame old people consider Friday night fun). No such luck. Already 20% though it.
You may be hearing form some corporate attorneys shortly.

@codrutc Yes, great motor. Looks like a great apprentice for Mathis to mentor. But much like how any given movie trailer can make the most awful movie worth watching, I've gotta remind myself to watch the highlights with a grain of sand.

Great collection of Griff gifs.
Seriously though - his burst that you pointed out on the screen pass is killer. Too many times you'll see a player get set and then decide where to run vs determining the path *as* they attack the space.

Thought for a moment there in #1 that you were going to propose Pagano will bring in Choice (Tashard) off the bench before Richardson and use him as the rolling ball of a thousand paper cuts. Anyone tracked what kind of action he's seen since he was signed?

In the voice of Bart Scott: CAN'T. WAIT! ... for the offensive line review of today's game. I don't remember cursing Satele OR McGlynn's name for the first time in forever.
Hilarious bc I was thinking the same thing. Whatever happened to the "it isn't homerism if you're right" mantra? I know that it technically disappeared with the 18to88 banner, but come one!!!!

Give Sergio Brown credit for his 'hula dance' celebrations. Dude belongs in the Pro Bowl for certain. Always showing up on ST.
@MarcusDugan how much of that is bc of Rogers & Brazil's YAC, though?

Watch for no one commenting because you pretty much summed up what I'm guessing the majority of CA readers are thinking with #12. Sure, the *can* win, but no one knows what to expect from this team anymore.

@Bobman1 Can't really group Baltimore in with the "we've had trouble with" group, can we? Up until Luck's rookie playoff outing AT Baltimore last season, haven't we pretty much pwned the Ravens?

10 months ago on Colts Elevate Daniel Adongo & Xavier Nixon, Send Two Players to IR
@buymymonkey Somewhat agree. The familiarity of a divisional foe can always be upset-fuel. However, there were times during yesterday's game that we made the Titans look like eventual SB champs.

@WyattL I love the optimism, but one has to ask: is it really a good thing to have a glass half full ... when you know that it's only going to get Linked*, Sateled° and/or DHB'd in the first round?
*spun around like a turnstyle
the DHB is self-explanatory
@Payton @MarcusDugan This comment reminded me of one of DB's 5 yd runs on first down. I don't even recall at what stage in the game it was or on which frustratingly pointless (literally) drive it happened ... but he was hit after a 2-3 yd gain, maybe. Kid kept driving his legs and pushing and, sure enough, took at least 2 defenders forward for an extra 2-3 yds. Impressive, for our "speed" guy.
10 months ago on Colts come up with the Win 22-14 over Tennessee
@BDiddy I live out of the area, so I don't get to see every game...I did get to see this one. And I'm still washing my eyes. Save for the single TD drive, this was easily one of the most impotent offensive performances I recall seeing in a long time, and I blame it primarily on the O-line.
@AJ_ @matt_has what the wha? do you live in my laptop camera?!?
10 months, 1 week ago on Colts fans need some perspective for their perspective
@Payton @matt_has I too am unaware of this job.
@Payton @matt_has eligibility for the body double job
@Payton @matt_has Crap. So I'm out then, I guess?
I'll repeat what I said on the twitters the other day: Irsay & co. want the Colts to be a "power run" team? I want to be Brad Pitt's body double. Without the "talent", it just ain't gonna happen.
And really, it's not the best thing for either party.
@smonroe @MarcusDugan No doubt trying to reach the fallen remote control to turn up the game, right? ;)
10 months, 2 weeks ago on Colts Sign Free Agent RB/KR Chris Rainey
@Bobman1 I don't see any way the suspension turns into a fine. Walden is lucky he didn't knock out a few of Walker's teeth. Totally agree with you on a man to man apology, and for all we know, that could have happened already.
10 months, 2 weeks ago on NFL Issues Erik Walden a One-Game Suspension, Walden Plans to Appeal
@chip_bennett @MarcusDugan @unitas19 The Bengals are absolutely loaded - defense and skill positions. The one glaring exception is Dalton, and he's no scrub. Dude is just so ridiculously inconsistent, and, as you say, very easily rattled.
When they win, they to do so convincingly. Just seems like they should be able to do that on a more consistent basis. Must be some of the Cleveland curse creeping into Cinci.
@DISPLACED_COLTS_FAN The thing is, though, the opposition HAS been changing their approach at half. Seattle comes to mind – Lynch was having his way running the ball in the first half. I don't know/have the stats, but iirc he barely touched the ball in the 2H. Same w/CJ last night.
I do like your thinking re: the offense looking for its identity and using the remainder of the schedule to make adjustments and "find" it. Let's just hope they continue to win while doing so. The AFC is so bad, we have a shot at a first round bye ... and as long as that's in my head, I'll have a hard time lowering expectations.
What can I say? I'll admit it - like most long time Colts fans, I've been spoiled.
10 months, 2 weeks ago on Colts Beat the Titans 30-27 with Another Second Half Surge
@TheGreatMisdirect In the bigger picture, these comebacks are more sad than exciting.
I have the utmost confidence in Luck, but zero confidence in this team, including the coaches. The "crapshoot" theory will surely be put to the test this January.
Re: the Kenyon tweet about Havili's block...is he serious? Looks to me like Havili just fell through the line and blocked exactly no one.

@MarcusDugan lol, no, not Peyton – Dwight "at the end of the day" Freeney.
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Colts Notebook: Rogers Earns His Chance
"In a sense" is becoming the most annoying phrase ... petty, I know. And if that's the worst thing I complain about with our stud QB, then at the end of the day*, I'm a happy camper.
*name the former Colt responsible for abusing this phrase.
So, essentially, what you're saying is the AFC is horrible?
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Good News Tuesday Infographic: Colts lose to the Rams
The FOs stubbornness for not surrounding Luck with an absolute Berlin-wall of an offensive line is absolute insanity. This could turn into a tome-length post, so suffice to say I believe it all start w/that - a protected QB with time to throw, holes for RBs to run through, etc.
It's after a loss like this one (plus the 1H of the Texans game) that I start to wonder about the bigger picture. We will most likely win the division. But that gives me no more confidence in this team than discussing how the playoffs are a "crapshoot". I sense an impending 1-and-done and cries of "he can't win the big one ..." ... "he's a great regular season QB, but ...". Sound familar?
Speaking of familiar, does anyone else feel as bad for Peyton that he's essentially stuck on what is quickly looking like the mid 2000 Colts? Lots of receiving talent, soft defense, questionable O-line. Not that I'd trade the success of that Colts era, but man, as long as we got/get our W against the Broncos, I was hoping he'd have an easier ride.
10 months, 3 weeks ago on Colts Fall Hard Against St Louis 38-8
The Satele frames are as hilarious (he literally looks like he's moved only~3' from frame 1 to frame 2) as they are scary (the free shot on Luck he gave up). Still amazes me that Grigs thinks he's our best answer at center.
Great concept and post, btw. And nice insight on Doyle. I know we all understand how vital Havili is to our offense, but if Pep insists on running so many 'heavy' sets, maybe he should consider giving Doyle some of Havili's snaps.
