@SocialMediaDDS Hi Claudia! You do love summer! Your list includes sights, sounds, smells and tastes - and the feel of a hot day or evening. It sounds like you like to be around your home, as I love to be around mine in the summer!
It's still cool and overcast here, prompting a fire in the stove - in the house!!! But I'm sure summer is not far away.Right?

@blogaksHi Ashvini! With the hot weather you have over there, I picture you running with your ice cream to a cool dark place before it melts  ;-) Do you have any favourite locations you anticipate visiting?

@Sabrina at MyMiBoSo Hi Sabrina! Travel is your summertime fun! Do you plan your weekends ahead of time or go spontaneously or a bit of both? Funny, your summer fun completely contrasts mine. I find, apart from out trip to Cape Breton, I just want to be relaxing at home!

Do you think the way we spent our summers as children forms the way we want to spend them now?

@RileyharThat's close Riley! Seems you've lived on or near water a lot! What is it about water that draws us? :-)

We've got about a forty minute drive to see the migrating birds so it's a hit and miss thing. No one can tell you for sure when they are going to be there feeding! Fingers crossed for seeing them this year. It must be nice to actually see them overhead and know they are coming!

@johncharlesowens You raise an important point John - that the desire to be perfect is motivated by fear. What is it we are afraid of being that we need so badly to get it so right!?!? Maybe we fear life is against us or even right on our heels? Do you really believe being perfect is a state of being, something to be realized? How can we teach our children this so there won't any more be generations of people who feel they have to prove something that is already true?

@DrAliceChan Hi Alice! The need to be perfect is a wound to be healed!!! Well said! LOL How do you locate the source of this wound? If it far back in childhood - and where?

@Rileyhar Hi Riley! Do you live near the Mississippi River? Do you see any migrating birds there? Last summer we tried (twice) to catch the migrating plovers in August but we only saw tracks (they had BEEN there LOL) We're hoping to have better luck this year.

Hi Sandi,

"Tell the truth" - this makes me wonder whether or not I am telling my truth. I believe I am.

What are you speaking up about Sandi?

@Sabrina at MyMiBoSo @Late_Bloomers I remembered your advice to breathe today Sabrina when in a stressful situation. Thanks for that. I wonder if practice makes perfect in this? We literally sieze up, don't we? Blocking the energy flow and making it all much worse!

@sharonoday Hi Sharon! Just wanted to pop in and welcome you to the LFI porch! Sorry so late in doing so - I've been occupied off the porch this week spending a nice visit with my daughter!

I'm glad you got into the conversation. I can't add to what Barbara said (she's SO wise!!) but to say, come back and get into future conversations too!!!

@JoyChristin How exciting Joy! I"d like to hear more about "sailing *around the world* " How nice that you can create from such a wonderful environment and reach so many people through that effort.

We're all being surprised by the power of blogging to reach people. Who would have anticipated such things?

@marquita.herald Hi Marquita! What an amazing example of the power of blogging to connect people!I can imagine lines of connections going out from your island all around the world! I don't live on an island but I've always been in the middle of a city or town until about seven years ago when we moved to the country. It's been an adjustment for me. But blogging has brought people closer around me similar to the way city living does.

@wonderoftech So true Carolyn! The relationships were something I didn't anticipate when I started blogging. I think blogging has evolved. Surely the earliest bloggers were not expecting to interact and have conversations with people who visited? I don't know - do you?

Hi Alice,

This has SO been my focus today and it goes hand in hand with dealing with fear and that survival instinct of building a fortress to protect oneself. I think my favourte of all you wonderful suggestions is "Be here now" and the reference to children. Maybe accessing the inner child when fear arises to keep the heart open..?

Thanks for this!

@Late_Bloomers @Yvonne RootI didn't get too upset about it but I felt bad that I didn't arrange and clean the porch well before you got here Barbara! I've been very distracted lately and that's my excuse but you deserved better. Yet I know you would be okay with it and not too upset so that's why I could take it more or less in stride.

HI Barbara,

Thanks so much for hosting today while I'm essentially away from the porch! Sorry I messed up your link AND the author box at the bottom - both fixed now. Speaking of a lack of perfection!!!

Sure, I want to be perfect. I think it may come from early childhood - a desire to be a "good girl" who always received accolades for this. Can you relate? I'm working on it, though. Striving for perfection is a stress-creating way to live.

How do you deal with the desire for perfection? Can it easily be eradicated or do we have to accept that some remnant of it will always be inside of us? Maybe it's not a completely bad thing as is anything completely bad or good?

@Yvonne Root Thanks for that Yvonne - I fixed the link!  LOL, yes, speaking of perfection - I'm a bit off my game today! Funny how upsetting that is :o

It ain't possible, for sure!  That's a relief but why doesn't it feel that way?

@JoyChristin Hi Joy! What a great example of how blogging forges connections for bloggers! If making these connections has this kind of impact on us on a personal level, do you think that means it must be impacting us on a global one as well?

@Carole Remy @patweber Carole you're an empath! And you find the internet gives you a buffer. Interesting! I would think it would be challenging to be an empath, even here online. I don't think I'm an empath, but like you I find I pick things up easily - books I read, movies I watch etc. I've learned to choose these with care - no horror movies for sure!

Is this something you can relate to.
