Awesome post Jay!  I didn't think of the flip-side of some of the new features, like people using Messages to write good things the business would want on their wall instead.  I wonder if that will mean some businesses will need to ask permission when someone messages them to add their comment to the wall too.

Ps. Thanks for including my images and linking it to my post!  :)

If the worry is about people not pinning directly from your site, but downloading and uploading your images as their own, then that isn't just a Pinterest issue - that's an Internet issue in general.  Using the opt-out code won't make a difference.  If someone wants to steal an image badly enough, they can do it with or without the help of a social network.  I think they shouldn't have allowed users to upload images directly in the first place to prevent image theft.

Although I don't write about anything in the legal area, it does bring up the consideration of having liability insurance for your writing. I have been working on getting that for myself since I do so much for my own site and for others. While I take the time to thoroughly research things and figure nothing can really come back to bite me, it would give that sense of comfort when thinking about the what-if's.

Glad I made the cut then! :) I have the same issue - I don't approve people I don't recognize, especially if they don't include a personalized message as to why they added me in the first place.

That is so true. I notice it most often in posts I'm writing. Sometimes I feel like they are very basic, obvious things but at the same time, no one has written about them. So when I write about them, those posts do really, really well. Sometimes being able to simply and clearly express the basics in whatever format or media you like the best is all you need to be successful.

I like how on the AllFacebook post, the author says "Granted, not everybody wants to remain completely anonymous, but if you do, or you want your children to, let them know not to comment on public posts." Eventually we'll have to stop talking to people altogether if we don't want to have our privacy violated somehow.

Ironically, I just turned in my notice at my job so that I could start a family next year. At the same time, I'm going to start full time freelancing which should equal about the same amount of income with less work (hard work, granted, but more productive work in a shorter time period). So I feel like I was motivated to go it on my own because the money was better and because I would have a better setup to starting a family. :)

That's pretty awful, especially since the Facebook comment system usually notifies you of new comments. Or at least it notified me with a reply to one of mine, so I assume it notifies the author as well. Pretty much, anytime you're not willing to respond to people - social media, commenting systems, comment forms, etc. you should just avoid having them altogether.

I'm planning on unplugging Sunday - just me and my first bike along a little dirt path by the lake. I'll probably come back bruised and battered, but it's going to be awesome and well worth it!

John Falchetto One that I have on the list which is a little weird is to build a habit of not being afraid of phone conversations. It's an odd one. :)

BrankicaExtremelyAvgAmyMccTobintimjahn Is it sad if I made that much a day I'd still just want to drive a Toyota Tacoma. Of course, it would have a sound system that would envy concert stages. :)

Brankica Just another reason I think print books for social media tutorials is a little silly. The second it gets published, the entire framework of the network might change, so your "new book" becomes obsolete even if it was published the day before. I'm notorious for flipping through a book, looking at the screenshots, and if those are out of date, I move on. Probably why I haven't bought a physical social media book in ages. :)
