I disagree with you about Pyatt, Kev.  he had a bad first period in Detroit but played somewhat better as the game progressed.. Was beaten off the puck a few times on the wall and one defensive zone turnover led to a good scoring chance just 3 minutes into the game.

I never though I'd say something like this but Boyle and Dorsett made him look better than he actually was.

@FREE LINDBERG Stepan has a flawless injury history in his time as an NHL pro. Bad business to operate under the assumption that he is going to get hurt at some point.

Your argument is based on AV and Sather electing to bring everyone back which I don't think will be the case. Guys like Boyle will likely give way to Lindberg on a very cheap ELC. Also I can see letting Stralman walk in favor of a cheaper McIlrath. AV is attempting to win with Tortorella's roster all on the last year of their contracts. He's going to want to bring in some of his guys which means a couple players that are fan favorites here could be on the chopping block.

Sather is simply looking to get Stepan in under the cap for this season without shedding players and as I said above, I believe  Sather would've been more proactive in shedding cap room this offseason rather than adding depth pieces at the bottom of the lineup.

My respect level for Torts just went down several more notches. Ever since leaving for Vancouver, every time he's opened his mouth has justified his dismissal more and more. I was strongly against his firing from the beginning but clearly everything wasn't kumbaya in the room.

@KevinDeLury @thenyrblogneill If you go back to the 2010 draft in the first round, only Gudbranson and Fowler have seen significant NHL minutes. Gormley, who I wanted, was highly touted coming out of that draft as well hasn't gotten his chance yet either. But like you said I'll start to worry if he isn't given consideration if a spot opens up.

@KevinDeLury @thenyrblogneill I agree with you that he should get a taste, though I still think that's not going to happen either unless injuries, etc.

What will be interesting though is if/when one of the defensemen get hurt who the call up would be from Hartford. That'll tell you everything you need to know about where McIlrath's standing in the organization.

@Centerman21 @thenyrblogneill I'm not saying Sather wouldn't accept a trade for Baertschi, just Calgary would be over paying for Staal in that hypothetical deal. I said during last week's spreecast that there is another move that has to be made that Ranger fans will be speculating about all summer and this is another part of it, as unrealistic as it sounds. If anything one of Powe or Asham might be dealt for a 7th round pick. That's how I think this will end.

Ok, a few things to go over here.

As far as the money is concerned, this author (not you Kevin) seems to be confusing real dollars and cap dollars. I nearly hit the floor when this guy put referred to Sather and the Rangers as "budgetary". No fan gives two you-know-whats about Staal's salary in 2014-15. Besides when it comes to cap hit vs. actual salary that's called value especially in the last year.

Trading him as part of a cap dump makes absolutely zero sense. You obviously aren't taking salary back so Glencross is out. I'd be stunned if Calgary traded Baertschi especially for Staal which would be a massive overpayment on Calgary's part.

There are 10 other options at the Rangers disposal to clear cap space to get Stepan under for the season and this isn't one of them. Trading Staal can be something we can discuss next summer if Staal has a season that would increase his trade value from where it is right now.

@PenaltySh0t I decided to leave him out mainly because I didn't think he was coming to NA. Tough to leave a league when you're getting paid $10 million a season. Not bad for a 21 year old.

@lennynyr I originally said the same, but right now, I'll take a Brassard and a Moore over a draft pick who won't make the team for a year or two. They needed roster players at that moment, not draft picks.

I lol'ed at the Kim Kardashian thing.

Several years ago, I was in Park City, UT visiting family. This one restaurant out there had a dessert that was made up of fried vanilla ice cream served over french toast drizzled in cinnamon. After applying hot fudge on top of the ice cream, it's still to this day, the best dessert I've ever had.

As far as Zucc goes, he really isn't doing himself any favors by talking to reporters, even in Norway, before his arbitration hearing. I'd be surprised if it actually gets to that point now.

Anyway.... Richards could just as easily tear his biceps or his pec muscles working out just like in the picture above and be out for the next 6 months and play like garbage when he got back. At this point, I think its time NYR fans to put this in the past and just let it go. His contract isn't going to keep Stepan from re-upping. Anyone trying to prove otherwise is simply being hysterical.
