@silver_linings_paul_(book) in 2009 it did.
@Frank J Lapidus @silver_linings_paul_(book) for the entertainment value alone, the dodgers would just be a more interesting and entertaining team if they brought up the prospects like joc and puig. As is, the current team is full of almost entirely veterans of which you already know what you are going to get. And what your getting is a last place team.
@silver_linings_paul_(book) @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @Lilpuppet probably not. Ramon Hernandez starts tomorrow. So that'll be enjoyable.
@Lilpuppet Donnie, Ned, Cruz, Ramon Hernandez should all be gone before Memorial Day at the very least.
@Shadow Commish @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) The Dbax/Giants/Rockies play something like 37 more games against each other. So the Dodgers have 118-37 = 81 games to make up a 7 game deficit.
@Shadow Commish @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) its not really 118 games though. You have to take out the games that the teams above the Dodgers will play against each other. Thats why the Dodgers have the 2nd lowest playoff odds in the NL (only above the Marlins) per ESPN. Its because the teams ahead of them still have to play each other a bunch of time where the Dodgers cant gain ground.
7 games behind Dbax/Giants and 6 games behind the Rockies.
@EephusBlue @S.Weiss 1922 @Technogit bringing in an established veteran in any capacity (be it manager or player or coach)
@S.Weiss 1922 Longoria and Bumgarner have awesome contracts.
@S.Weiss 1922 @Tycho Blue @FNC(FYCQ) @JohnM(Charter Member of Trade Kershaw bandwagon) If the Dodgers had gotten the Beltre after Seattle got him, it would have been great. But the Beltre that played for Seattle was not good at all, so I dont think letting him go was that bad of risk. He had 1 amazing year that wasnt replicable and he never came close to it. Unlike Kemp, who the team gives 8/160, they let Beltre go. I like the Beltre decision better than resigning Kemp, although I think there was a better chance of Kemp being a great player than Beltre a th those points of their careers. Unfortunately, due to the labrum tear may never know.
@JohnM(Charter Member of Trade Kershaw bandwagon) But Beltre wasnt good from 2005-2008 anyhow
@FNC(FYCQ) @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @Blahness @JohnM(Charter Member of Trade Kershaw bandwagon) You trade CC bc at his age he's only going to get worse and if you really believe in trading at peak value, he's at peak.
@Lobo @Morry Green always had more power than Kemp though. You're taking a Matt Kemp that never really hit that many homers in his career anyway (save for 1 season) and giving him that injury. Plus, NO PEDS.
@DBrim @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @Lobo @S.Weiss 1922 I didnt see anyone upset that the Dodgers didnt match the deal Seattle gave him based on 1 season of production
@S.Weiss 1922 Will people really not buy that game if Kershaw is on the cover?
@S.Weiss 1922 @FNC(FYCQ) @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) 2011 was truly awesome, and April of 2012 was truly awesome, the rest of Kemp's career has been of an above average player, but nothing superstar level. So treating him like a supestar, and somehow expecting him to come back and be BeastMode Kemp when he only did that 1 season, is what I dont get. I really think thats the only reason people dont want to deal Kemp, because they think he's BeastMode or will come and be that. But he isnt and most likely wont.
@Lobo @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @S.Weiss 1922 No, i'm talking after he went to Seattle. Nobody seemed that upset about it, and the Dodgers didnt even get anything for him. Plus, he went back to be just an average player. Nobody said "Adrian Beltre is a great player" based on his 1 awesome season. So why are people putting that expectation on Matt Kemp.
@FNC(FYCQ) @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @Mike Petriello Who? What positions are open?
@DBrim @plaza234 (Charter Member of Trade Kemp bandwagon) @Mike Petriello I'm going to place the active roster on the GM absolutely. Tough times call for bold tough decisions.
@S.Weiss 1922 Kershaw's definitely the face right now. I just wonder when Kemp loses that "he's still a great player" rep from Dodger fans. Beltre had 1 great season, but nobody ever thought he was a great player. So I dont see why Matt Kemp should be seen as anything different.
