@NielsKreischer @Speedhunters_Bryn I spot an RB. Also, nice car.
3 days, 14 hours ago on Catching Up With Project Evo
@Big Pooky Evo's carry over 60% of their weight on the front, shedding heat in the rears isn't really a priority when the fronts do a majority of the work. It could also be that only the fronts have been upgraded so far.
I think it was Motor Trend that had an editorial piece a few years back praising the virtues of feeling engaged while driving by using all four points. The four points of course being both feet and both hands. Though certainly blip-shifting through a dual-clutch PDK box is faster, it just doesn't seem as engaging. But that's the way of progress. If Porsche wants to compete with other supercars and build a continually faster and more capable vehicle, then that magical PDK is a large piece of the puzzle.
I still prefer to row my own gears the traditional way though.

I had a buddy once lose a drag race by .001. He said it came down to the difference of a frog fart. I asked him "wtf are you talking about?" His reply: "Some frog farted at the finish line and slowed me down."
Yup, Under was the victim of a frog fart.

Widebody kit to fit maximum-width wheels and tires
Supercharger for extra power and performance
Full suspension setup utilizing top-notch components
Stretched tires for "dat fitment yo"

@ToyotaSupraMan They have a couple of "grooves" in the tread, so they're not completely slicks, thus "street legal" or DOT-approved. Yeah, taking the rules and bending them veeeeeeeeeeeeery far.
3 weeks, 3 days ago on An Audi That Hates Corners
Current GTR record is 7.80 at 182 set by ETS/English Racing in August at the Buschur Shootout, but that was on *I believe* full slicks, not M/T ET streets and they were still squirrelly going down the track.
Either way, this car is an amazing feat of engineering, especially when you consider the hybrid drivetrain and the fact that it's making that much power from just 5 cylinders. I swear, them Scandanavians have all kinds of surprising things up their sleeves.
Perfect FD ending:
Judges admit they have a bias against short wheelbase cars and let personal opinions of drivers on the grid influence their decision making:
Oh, And the Norwegian Hammer taking home his first FD title. That'd be pretty sweet too.

@MoparianHow about we stop tossing the word rape around. You sound like a complete assclown. Sexual assault isn't the same as transplanting an engine from another manufacturer into a Mopar. In fact, can we remove this comment altogether?

2JZ, no shit?
This makes me really miss my Type 3 Fastback, I'd love to have that back and restore it. There's an intangible glory to owning an air-cooled VW, and is something that definitely should be experienced at some point in your life.
I imagine with the backdrop of Gatebil there's always a temptation to go overboard, and I can see someone wanting to throw in a 1000hp turbo LS motor, fab-up a four-link rear end and pushrod front suspension, 18-inch custom wheels and drift the piss out of it. But, the restraint and attention to detail is the linchpin that ties this car together and makes it much more than the sum of its parts.
Stunning photos Mr. Moore, that lighting is amazing and the timing must have been just perfect.

I was going to point out all the same shit as everyone else but I decided to look for a silver lining in this sponsored ad-feeling article:
Unlike most VIP builds, I'm glad at least something was done with the engine and brakes - which surprised me. Also, despite the air bags and the heavy wheels I'm sure it would still be a blast to take to an HPDE should you ever decide to do something besides hard park it. 400+whp, 6 speeds & big-ass brakes = good times I'm sure.
Hmm, I forsee KM4SH (or some rocket bunny variation), Vossen and Air Lift "Performance" parts will all make their way on the car.

A lot of points made below are a pretty good explanation of the hate on V8 swaps, but one of the more important reasons why there's such a rift is the general car culture in the US.
In the US there's always been a rather large rift between old and young, import vs. domestic (or fast & furious vs vanishing point if you will). My old man is all about the V8's and it's old hat to me. The guy just doesn't get me and I get bored easily by muscle cars and V8's.
In being a white guy driving an import there's hardly ever a time I won't get called a ricer when rolling anywhere near a domestic car show. Go to any Cars and Coffee show and you'll hardly ever see lowered Honda's, S13's or anything else that's been highlighted in a F&F movie - not because import fans don't want to go, but because the amount of shit-talking and hate isn't worth it - especially in the South.
There is no domestic equivalent to the term "ricer" - no negative one-word summation of an entire scene. No one looks at someone driving down the road in a muscle car, rat rod or classic and has a single derogatory word to say. I sure as shit didn't get any attitude when I drove my '69 Camaro. When I drove that thing dudes were like "nice car, wanna fuck my wife?"
But, by swapping a V8 into an import a lot of import fans see it as crossing that divide. Somehow, swapping an American V8 means you're turning your back on the scene and not a real enthusiast. A big V8 swap makes you a corner-cutting turncoat that took the easy way out. I think the hate for the V8 is a lashing-out because of the amount of negativity import car owners/tuners have received since the dawn of import tuning in the US. When you get constantly shit-on for no other reason than owning an import it's understandable that will people respond in-kind.
Hope this helps explain at least some of the hate.

Looks better than the actual 5th-Gen butt rocker special. Now all he needs to do is grow a mustache and a mullet, slap a pack of Marbs in his sleeve and he's all set.
Also, it looks like it has an S15 dash retrofit?

"The AE86 still has the most bland, uninspired styling of any Japanese car ever built - and the retro-reachback GT86 feels even more soulless since there's no pop-up headlights, or 80's interior or obnoxious vinyl stickers of the classic AE86."
Umm, the FR-S/BR-Z isn't really trying to capitalize on 40-year-old designs with a piss-poor rehash of the original. But nice attempt.
"At least the newest versions of its competitors have more power than an economy car. Both the new 370Z and 2015 Mustang put an emphasis on newer designs and technology, all while creating a more modern and capable version of the same old sports coupe."
No, just fail on the attempt at a parallel.
"But Toyota? Nope. They're still rocking the fucking "worthless except for corners" underpowered boat anchor."
4,000lbs vs 2,600lbs, which one is the boat anchor?
Never once did I bring up any import vs. domestic bullshit. That's all you Jake. Out of the three original pony cars I think I'd take a new Mustang - and I say that as an owner of a 69 Camaro and having drag-raced a 67 Coronet for 2 years. Big boat anchors that can't turn and are only designed to melt rubber just don't do it for me. Add in the boring-as-fuck styling and I just don't care. But good on Dodge for at least trying something daring.

Still the most bland, uninspired styling of any pony car ever built - and the retro-reachback of the new versions make the car feel even more soulless since there's no chrome, or external bumpers, or obnoxious vinyl stickers of the classic Challenger.
At least the newest versions of it's competitors can turn, both the new Z28 and the 2015 Mustang put an emphasis on newer designs and technology and creating a more modern, more capable version of the same-old pony car. They at least have evolved, however slightly.
But Dodge? Nope. They're still rocking the fucking straight-line-only, flying brick.
