Today, cars that interest me never come from car companies, their cars are too bland but also too expensive for me to buy as anything but second or third hand to use as a daily driver. The cars that do interest me and that I love reading about are created by interesting persons. Thank you Speedhunters for finding those persons for me.

I've never owned a carbed motor other than my lawnmover but I love the mechanical esthetics of a nice row carbs. I have very little understanding of how they work so they're as much a mystery to me as a gearbox. Its just one of those black boxes that I will have to pay someone else to worry about. :)

I love your reports from this meet, somehow its the start of the season even for us far away northerners and your stories let us know that its time to start finishing whatever we are working on in our garages because spring, is just a few months away.

@Peter_Kelly @MatsKarlsson

I will be keeping the aircooled fourcylinder for now. The main reason being that I want to be able to participate in the Porsche club autocross events. For the first version of the engine I will be throwing the old Djet injection out and do an ITB conversion with aftermarket fuel injection capable of later running E85. This is a bit of a shortcut since I hope to get the engine started and perhaps even drive the car during this year. If all works out I'll take the engine out the coming winter for some increase in engine volume and compression ratio.

Since alot of other 914 owners are doing widebody 914-6 conversions I'm the backwards guy staying narrowbody and keeping the fourcylinder.....for now.:) Have a look at matsgarage.com for more details.

Myself I like the classic bodys with modern tech under them. Restomods all the way, at least for a fun summer car. For a daily beater I'll drive anyting turbocharged and somewhat economical. (Golf Mk4 TDI för the last 7 years)

This is my project since the last 2 years, finally past rock bottom and building up again with lots of new goodies under the fresh paint.

Love the Protouring way of doing things. Kinda OEM look but with a personal twist and upgraded performance and functionality. Its what I'm humbly aiming for with my own build even tho I'm a bit away from something like this....

Wow, reading some of the comments to this post makes me ashamed of being male and a car entusiast. But the post does serve

a purpose with bringing the discussion to the surface. I'd hate for my little daughter who loves her cars to be labeled as a "female car enthusiast" rather than just "car enthusiast" when she grows up. Go Taryn.

Nissan is a really small brand in Sweden and there are not many Z cars sold here. At the largest used car site there's currently only 3 350Z for sale, 2 are around $20k and a third around $30k. Same site has 3 370Z for sale, all north of $35-40k. So there are no cheap cars around to build track or drift cars from...
