I totally agree and from a infrastructure standpoint we have excellent roads, tons of fiber (though individuals can't get it), good cellular performance (Nashville clocked the highest average LTE speeds in the US (AT&T). I would really really like to see a FTTH service in Davidson county (Nashville Proper) since so many surrounding cities have FTTH (Chattanooga, Clarksville, Jackson, Tullahoma, Morristown, to name a few). I wish I had known about this event before hand I would have totally gone.

@MichaelTannenbaum I totally agree, I think most acquisitions ended up being for IP/talent rather than actually adding something to the business. I would rather see Yahoo refine their own projects and do more in house R&D. They have some promising tech they just need to clean the over all stuff up.

I am sure this has nothing to do with all the business Amazon is gaining from Wal-Mart, and the fact that as it stands Amazon will eventually over take Wal-Mart as the largest retailer.

I wonder as this is only financially based, most of the southern states are poorer. I wonder if time volunteered is factored in as I currently reside in the southern USA and a lot of people give their time as well, where as a larger donation may not be as tied to time given. Also @hamishmckenzie did you make that visualization?

I am all for being cost conscience but I can't imagine these subsidies really make up any significant part of the Federal Budget and should stay in place. A position I have long held is that the US Government does not protect our solar companies as China funds their companies to sell at a heavy loss which puts our companies out of business. Solar is only getting better and at from what I have read in at least CA the price is almost caught up to other types of energy.

@PatrickR I don't plan on complaining about any of that, all I was saying is that it felt more like a speech for a new candidate, if you don't know the Obama's four years in and say the year before the 2008 election you would have to be living under a rock. It struck me as lackluster because it was boring, the same stories I have already heard, or read in his several books. What would have been more interesting would have been if she tried to capture our imagination.

Am I the only person that wasn't particularly impressed with the delivery, granted I was listening to the radio so it was more focused on content than body language and crowd interaction. I personally found it boring and recycled facts. Please America, lets not shower a mediocre speech and average delivery with praises of a great orator. I am more interested in hearing Mayor Cruz's speech.
