I see Emma Watson inspired you with her speech at the UN :) I think social models dictate that girls shouldn't like cars or anything having to do with machines etc. I guess it carries on into careers, I don't know the ratios but there must be a lot more men working in science/engineering fields for the same reason.

I work in small factory and run the machine shop, sometimes girls from the line use the milling machines and drill presses. They enjoy the work and are eager to learn why we do things in a certain way... its exposure they never had before about something mechanical

Female role models can help to entice the interest of young girls, but in a way not everyone finds enjoyment or cars as a hobby there's plenty of men who couldn't care less about working on cars, or even owning one.

Oh Ashley Force..

I say remove the running gear off the Supra and sell the body to an enthusiast who will put a 2jz in it. The Crown is a cooler project. Its hard to keep projects under control and moving forward, some discipline is required :)

Awesome feature Bryn, this really takes me back to when I was 12, waiting eagerly for a new issue of "Street Machine" (uk) to come out. Maybe its time to dig out some of those crazy cars built in the late 80's/ mid 90's. There is a growing Mini truck movement on the net digging out "OG" mini trucks.

I'd like to bring up another facet to this debate, obsolete parts that everyone wants but aren't made new anymore. Growing up in the aircooled vw scene, everyone wants to have 67' 4.5 inch wide Porsche Fuchs alloys (fronts) or original BRM's. The prices of these rims have gone through the roof, so would I spend $5-$10,000 to rock a rare set of rims and be afraid to drive my car?...no way, let the speculators thrive because I'm buying (as I did) high quality repros.

On newer rims that are easier to find I'd stick to the originals,as these rims are in a class or their own when it comes to R&D, material strenght and build quality. Nothing is more disappointing than ordering a part (not rims) off the internet and find out its a cheaply made copy of an original that doesn't fit well
