@WinstonSmith3 @Idealogue @DerekMarlowe One was not held as slaves for 100 years, then forced to the back of the bus (by law) for another fifty plus.
@KeithMueller @Idealogue @rationaldebate @DerekMarlowe It's weak to post childish, racist rants.

You mean as in the "many great contributions"????
No I am talking about the "of the Black community and their culture to our society. " part. That paints the picture. You are the one with reading problems.
@rationaldebate @Idealogue @DerekMarlowe The comment smears an entire race/segment of people, thus racist comment.
@rationaldebate @DerekMarlowe Really? Was that before or after Strom Thurman set the filibuster time record trying to keep blacks out of white schools and stop the civil rights amendment?
Basing your startup on being a third party app for a large company like Facebook or Google is tempting since they make it so easy, but never ever ever a good idea.

For markets, I was referring to app markets, not necessarliy music, but yes, exactly, the absence of off-market places to get music and apps has been stifling and Apple would not let you install them anyhow. Besides, DRM had little impact until Apple used it, as well as it's similar model for it's apps. Basically funnel things to you.
A few off-market places you can get Android apps are: GetJar, PocketGear, MobiHand... My comment is that many Apple (and even lots of Android too) users would not even understand how or why this is important, and the rest of us can see the impact it is having on our free markets.

Yes, except the title of this article says Apple won, Google came out worse. Simply not the case, in fact opposite, I guess my response was to the causality suggested in the title. Apple (by attempting their own Maps app) has already shown Google to the out door, so at this point Google has lost nothing, except maybe a little time left on iOS, until Apple gets their app fixed, and then once again bye-bye to Google - if they can. And there is the side effect of the negative publicity for Apple which is a bigger plus for Google. Google is totally on top for this one, it is after-all about 1/2 of what they do, and they already have a very good maps app on their own OS.
I think the main reason you see what looks like anger is that Apple has created almost a whole generation of folks that have no idea what lacks in services due to the restrictions there are in the smartphone market. And without that understanding there can be no outcry. For instance, most of my students have no idea that you can actually buy music and software that is transportable. And.... the concept of "off market" (off Google and ITunes that is) is almost nonunderstandable to them, yet so very destructive to development and fairness of a free market. This situation many blame on Apple.
Why would Google's being "caught off guard" be a problem for Google? Is it now Google's reponsibility for Apple's screwups? Seems it is only a plus to even at worst for Google, as they'd rather have Android have (yet another) way to differentiate iPhones and Android phones. This, especially as the reasons to spend extra for the shacked(IMO) world of Apple are decreasing.
Republicans in America have been known to resort to creating an enemy to help scare voters into electing them or supporting even the most needless of wars(Iraq). We can only hope Romney and other Republicans do not make it into office this time around.
