Patient data can be at great risk of being exposed when stored locally. Cloud-based EHR is safer, in my opinion, while still providing advantages in convenience. We use http://www.advancedmd.com/products-solutions/medical-scheduling%C2%A0/ where I work and it is a lot more secure than the hard copies and local HDD storage systems we used in the past.
