Remind me again - WHICH is the "Majority Party"?
After this nonsensical spending bill it's obvious that Democrats won't just be "leading as the minority" other than in name; they'll just be leading, period.
The GOP has - not once - acted as the majority party since they returned from the wilderness in 1994. Nor have they forced the Democrats to act as the minority We the People have made them. When the Senate was 50-50 with Bush (tiebreaker) in the WH, the GOP GAVE the Democrats 50% of the Chairs. Can you imagine Democrats doing this? Of course not.
The word "bipartisan," a post-1994-loss lexical invention by the Democrats and MSM cannot be found in the political lexicon before that surprise. And, of course, it just means Republicans voting for Democrat policies. Does the GOP ever point this out? No.
When a Dem yammers about "the mainstream," does a GOPer note that 95% of American land mass, the majority of its Governors, the majority of its State legislatures - and, OBTW, every poll on every major policy item - are held by the GOP, so WTF is this "out of the mainstream" nonsense? Nope. Do any GOP contenders ever protest this "out of the mainstream" gargle so oft-used by Democrats? No. Looked at a precinct Red/Blue map? If there is a 'mainstream' it's 99.3% Red.
In policy and candidate debates, GOPers always allow the field of battle to be set by Democrats and always go on the defensive. This is like Patton deciding to go on the defensive as he crossed the Rhine.
Rather than listen politely to some Democrat talking about being nice to the poor - and replying that Detroit sure isn't nice to the poor, the GOP guy just agrees that these policies would be "nice" but that they must be implemented with "compassionate conservatism," whatever that is.
Rather that listen to argle-bargle about the income gap and then point out that it always increases under Democrat administrations and Congresses, the GOP clown just nods that, yep, it's sure bad.
Democrats STILL lead - why else did this insane spending bill get passed. Rather than go on the offensive and destroy Democrats and their policies with facts, logic and history, GOP "leadership" always sticks its collective thumb up its ass and votes away the store.
As Dr John Searle noted, "The Right is too stupid to discuss, but the Left is evil."
It'd be nice if GOP pols began acting as though they work for those who elect them, began putting in-place the policies on which they ran and were elected, but after the $100B cut-that-never-happened in 2010 and the absurd bill last night, this obviously is not the case.
The GOP is toast and must be replaced forthwith. But the problem with the Tea Party is that it was coopted by the social conservatives so no longer represents limited government under the Rule of Law and the Enumerated Powers any more than Progressive Democrats.
The ONLY thing that can save this country is the formation - by design ad-hoc - of a centrist Libertarian Party. The GOP is too stupid to govern and the Democrats too immature, feelings-based and anti-American to be in charge of anything past a communist kindergarten.

Oh, I don't know. I think it would be pretty easy to make the case that the REAL "most evil group" are those 'leaders' who allowed this to metastasize, and are allowing iran to develop a nuke. It's easy to say - hey, these guys are bad; but the real evil are those who have the info and refuse to stop this kinda stuff.

Where the Buck Really Stops
President Harry Truman kept a sign on his desk in the Oval Office:
"The Buck Stops Here." It's a fine saying, but it isn't true. If the
buck really stopped there, it would be both impossible and inconceivable to
have an Obama as president.
The buck - the responsibility for governing and executing the
laws - does not stop with the person Americans elect to fill that office.
The responsibility rests – the “buck” stops – with the voters.
When – not “if” – it come, responsibility for all ISIS violence in
America will not rest on Obama, Holder, et al.
It will rest with Democrat voters. Keep that in mind.
Responsibility for the ongoing economic damage to America?
How about the all-time minority youth unemployment rate?
The condition of minorities living in American ghettos?
Longest sustained above-10% unemployment in history?
Worst relations ever with our only ally in the world’s most
Complete border failure for the first time in our history?
Kids graduating from high school who cannot read or function in
today’s economy and have no grasp of Western Civilization or history?
The stealing of $20,000,000,000,000 of your children’s future
An out of control presidency that has dispensed with the Rule of
law, ignores the Legislative Branch and governs by fiat?
You guessed it.
The takeover of a too-expensive but very available healthcare
industry, only to make it a more-expensive, declining healthcare industry?
Legislation to arbitrarily terminate the 4th Amendment?
The new bill to arbitrarily end the 1st Amendment?
Can you say, “Trending”?
Politicians – all of them – are placed in power by voters.
And the destruction of America, our economy, our education system,
our domestic energy industry, our foreign policy, our workers, our defense, our
alliances, our race relations… OUR FUTURE… is on the head of those voters who
placed Democrats into office.
When your loved ones are blown-up in an ISIS attack on a building
in an American metro, when your spouse is out of work and you cannot send your
kids to college, when you lose your house to unemployment and an
over-regulated-over-taxed economy, when Johnny comes home from 6th
Grade and cannot read… when the future of you and your family evaporates… When
riots hit your street…
The responsibility will be that of Democrats you probably know.
Keep that in mind.

Silly. Common sense is on the side of the NRA. More guns = less crime. Every time. Now, if you WANT a more dangerous society, if you WANT to live like Chicago with strict gun laws, fine - but to pretend that it'll lower crime rates is just not supported by facts.

Well, they got one thing right when they wrote, "the battle for gun control." It WILL be a battle. Molon Labe,
@Michael Boldin Michael: Yep, first time. I get your emails but haven't before visited. Good to hear you include the Courts. I mayhave overlooked it in your column here, but you may also consider that this site's traffic may be increasing significantly based on the last election and what surely will be more overreach soon to come. If you agree with that, it might make sense to ensure those of us who are new visitors are easily made aware of the Court issue - you know, "intuitively obvious tot he casual observer" and all that.... I've been reading the book, "Rethinking the American Union for the 21st Century" and they kind of make the Court a point, as well as emphasize that many current 10th Amendment organizations go along with the idea of SCOTUS' adjudication, which they think is crazy. I am glad to be informed you agree. Anyway - good site. I'll be here often.

@ANTICRIME If this new document does not limit the voter franchise in some logical way, no way exists to avoid returning to the state in which we find ourselves today. I'd offer four, not necessarily competing (or mutually exclusive), ideas to limit the franchise: 1) If you don't pay income tax (IF some form of income tax remains), if you do not contribute TO the pot to be redistributed, you don't vote on HOW the pot is redistributed. 2) If you receive money FROM the national government (redistribution OR salary), you don't vote FOR the national government (Senators, Representatives, President). 3) If you don't have legitimate children (a stake in the future), you don't vote (which is ABOUT the future). 4) You MUST own property to vote - just like in the original Constitution.
Importantly, item #2, above, includes any form of Social Security. Those receiving even what may be viewed by them as (but is not and never has been) a pension, have helped get us into the mess in which we find ourselves today through the way they have voted their whole lives, their wants often compete with the wants of current producers, they are biased in favor of non-producers and will vote that way - look at AARP.
The problem with the Tenth Amendment folks is that they accept adjudication by SCOTUS - an arm of the Federal Government - in order to move forward. The Tenth is real clear: If the Constitution doesn't give a specific right TO the Feds - they don't HAVE it, nor can they adjudicate it. It's NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS. The STATES gave certain, limited rights TO the Feds, not the other way around. For a 10th Amendment state then to basically ask permission from an arm OF that Federal Government (SCOTUS) to exercise a right or ignore a law that 10th Amendment State believes is overreach, is to tacitly accept the feds have some un-given "right" to rule on something NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS, on a Right NOT given them by the States OR the Constitution.
@M175054 ... But I WOULD expect more from over 100M Americans who value freedom.

The only thing that surprises me is that no one has stopped them yet.
@timmyturmoil @BrianEdwards1 news flash: demanding he truth for our employees is supporting gov of by and for the people. Being against demanding the truth from gov is anti-American. Like you.
What a load of crap. We can wait for the truth - or at least Hilary's lies under oath. Concussion. You bet. Got any bridges for sale?
Obama's domestic agitation is only a diversion for his using the military & CIA to aid the rise of Islamism. Why else enable or assist the take-down of Mubarak & ghaddafi, both staunch opponents of al Qaeda, by aiding their as Qaeda foes? Why else run guns out of Libya to the anti-Assad al Qaeda forces in Libya? Obama is the enemy.

Someone had better stop this man soon. He is working this fast to spread Islamism because his handlers assumes someone will stop him. Some had better, and do so ASAP. Mossaad - are you awake?
@schneibster @buddwx :: nope. Wide receiver had A) RFID chips in all the guns. (These were not in F&F guns), B) GPS & aerial surveillance tracking of all guns & RFID. (F&F did not), C) knowledge agreement & cooperation with the Mexican govt (Mexico unaware of F&F).
Now you have a choice: recognize the facts & come to a logical conclusion, or continue to be blinded by ideology & insist F&F was the same as WR.

Maybe now that the intel community finally is putting country before this particular administration we can find out the background in this cipher known as POTUS?
In the past two days the following have published columns, commented on popular TV, or marched in protest against O:
... and our entire intelligence community has called him and his UN ambassador liars.
We have a tipping point here, folks. The MSM is hoping for post-O credibility and the entire Left wants this albatross off their neck.
He oughta just quit now. His ego will never survive the next few weeks and coming double-digit blowout.
@CarlBall @Tarmangani : exactly. F&F was to destroy the 2nd. Benghazi was to destroy the 1st.
Look - this Benghazi deal was the same MO as F&F. It was a setup attack designed to be bloody based on a lie, the purpose of which was to curtail the First Amendment, just as the goal of F&F was to curtail the Second.
The ONLY plausible reason for O to stop Issa w/ Exec Privilege was because of emails & conversations re: 2nd. Benghazi is about the 1st.
