@inTheNameofQuen It's not about KD, he'll have already been paid. It's Under Armour that has to make the money back. If the shoes retail for $100, they'll probably cost around $12 to make, the factory sells them to UA for $25, UA sells them to retailers for $55, so their profit is $30/pair or $75 if they sell them direct to consumers on their website. That means they'll have to sell 800,000 to 1 million pair a year to make it up. That's a lot of shoes.
6 days, 15 hours ago on Jay-Z Gives Nike A Deadline To Match Under Armour’s Offer To Kevin Durant
@inTheNameofQuen if he signs with Under Armor, the shoes won't be affordable. They have to recoup that $285 mil somehow and it won't be by selling $80 shoes.
I would think even if Nike doesn't match the offer in actual dollars, but offers royalties on future retros of his Signatures so far he would end up making more with Nike in the long run.
hope Nike adopts this for their id program soon.

These are all pretty cool. Texas stuff always looks good with that color way. I like the Ohio state ones with the helmet sticker buckeye on the heel. Wish they had done that with tomahawks on the Florida State ones.

Are the designs painted on or scratched off? Either way, it's a great custom, but to get that detail by scratching the top coat away is really impressive.

Not much "design" to this shoe. Don't see what the big deal is.

I agree. Sneakernews should do a weekly game called High Fashion or Payless Shoe because I think most people would have a hard time telling the difference. Why would you buy a bad knockoff version of a shoe for 4x the price?

Similar to the 3lab5 Jordan 5's with the all over elephant print, I think the 112 is starting to be overdone. It used to be tastefully done on classic silhouettes making it look very high end. Just my opinion.

@MelvinBetaphats @aintnojoke1 Awesome! I'd be interested in how you apply graphics to your customs. I've messed around a little with temporary tattoos and water slide decals but neither give a bold color and tend to fade and crackle over time. I don't really have the artistic skill to hand paint that kind of stuff, so I'm always trying other options. Anyways, love your stuff and keep the classes coming. Thanks.

I would love if sneakernews would feature more stuff like this. Tricks of the trade from the best in the business. Stuff like using acetone to take the gloss of the shoe before you paint, stenciling, using temporary tattoos and decals for graphics, what paints work best, using a wood burning tool to create realistic elephant print, how to take the midsole off a shoe, ect. Maybe having a collection of videos and tips. Please keep it coming.
It was a joke, as in these shoes look like a pair of $40 converse that somebody (like a painter with no knowledge or concern with "high fashion") spilled an abundance of white paint on and the continued walking around and working in until it started cracking. Hope this helps. I'll try to limit the sarcasm next time.

Why does the collar on the right shoe look so distorted? Looks like some really fat dude tried just the right one on.

All these athletes with their shoes on the floor need to step their game up. I think it's more impressive when athletes/celebrities have an expensive or elaborate closet setup. That's what sets them apart from us. We all agree, if you have lots of money or a shoe deal you can get nice shoes. Joe Johnson has it right.

I meant 7/1
The Wildhorse is set to release on 8/1, same as the Keiger. Both are super comfortable. The Keiger is the higher end model of the two. Can't wait.
Curious to see what the medial side of the shoe looks like. The 9's and 10's look cool in pictures, but awful on your feet when you look at the inside (all bunchy). It's like they design the lateral side and stop there. I liked the 7's and 8's in the hi's and lo's because they looked balanced. The lateral side is always going to look better, but there shouldn't be that much difference. I guess we'll see.

A side note for those thinking of hooping in these, they have no grip on an indoor court. I know they are not a basketball shoe, but I thought I'd give them a try. The clear sole definitely doesn't grip. Great comfortable shoe for just kicking around in though and I'm sure they'd be good for turf training.

The top pic demonstrates how the last 2 Lebrons look cool on their own but not so great on foot, especially on the medial side. Just my opinion.

Not to be a downer, but I don't think it's any of them. Just because you're a top 10 player in the league doesn't mean you get a sig. It takes talent but also marketability, being recognized by people that don't follow basketball. These are the guys, who are not just on the Olympic team, but the stars of the Olympic teams. It's not just enough to be an All-Star or Olympian, but to be the best of the All-Stars and Olympians. Those guys already have their signatures. The clostest to that is Blake Griffin because of the Kia ads, but big men don't sell shoes. Kyrie, although the best future point guard is not really that recognizable, plays in a small market on a mediocre team, and in his pepsi comercials you don't see him.
When I think signature shoe, I think game changers: Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Penny, KD, Barkley, Iverson. Even guys that got signatures that are great haven't had success: T-mac, Melo, Wade, Howard, CP3. If I were a shoe company I'd sign these guys, have them wear their top shoes, make sick PE's and wait for the next game changer (who isn't here yet).

Also, when Nike does a graphic inside the collar of a shoe it should be more vivid. Same thing happened with the Lebron Freegums. The graphic looks faded like when your printer is running low on ink.
