@MykolaShot @IvanOsorto 'you are shit' does not translate to 'you are the shit' ... you are a piece of shit also does not translate to anything nice or fun . take your bigotry and shove it

i'm encouraged by the mostly thoughtful comments in this thread . direct trade . mutual aid . support local artists and business people on every front, and we'll be engaging on a level that is beneficial for all of us meanwhile, an official apology is useful for the continued push for reparations, as it takes that first step of acknowledging the wrong done . statute of limitations should be no excuse for a city to duck out of making reparations . in this situation, it is completely clear that the next steps include doing exactly that

@MisterHix but can it be a step? i hate how the article suggests that, since the statute of limitation is up on crimes, the city doesn't have to so will never make restitution . the city can still decide to start a fund to empower children of those hurt in those riots ... specifically to economically reimburse those families ... so they can pass on something to their kids and grandkids i believe in restitution, but also see this formal apology as a first step toward getting that restitution : first acknowledge, then repair and replenish
@AdolphDooley a guy in ny just lost the right to sue cops who watched as he fought off a knife wielding man who had already murdered others ... he suffered severe injuries as police stood by and let the knife man slash away, then took credit for subduing him after his victim actually made him stop ... the court ruled that police do not have to protect us ... ie we cannot sue for them failing to protect us ... why the fuck are we paying them?

oh my gawd . ortiz . seriously . a kid sprays some paint, is murdered by a cop while offering zero threat, and this tool has the gall to say the kid killed himself? how disgusting

@Bo Raxo @petepaul steroids . not to mention a decades long history of cops committing crimes, including murder, with impunity

@CaliLove @wiseoldsnail @Ar1 at the very least this cop is a thug ... likely a thug on steroids ... either way a dead thug when the folks in that community decide they've had enough of cops killing with impunity
@Ar1 we need to teach our youth self defense, so they can survive an attack by a racist thug

@JayRi1 i call bullshit. kids do dumb things all day long, which doesn't give a person the right to assault and murder them. quit blaming the victim.
shell will never be ready to drill in these waters, as there is no way to do this drilling safely or in an ecologically responsible way. shell needs to step back and begin again with research and development into renewable resources. oil is dead.
