@MsB73 Perfect song...the good old days when people actually "sang"
1 day, 23 hours ago on Could What Ralph Richard Banks Said in His Book Be True Regarding How Swirling Might Help Black Women Marry Black Men?
@Kimduo37 It's mind boggling but that is how privilege works. Everyone else has privilege: white men, white women, black men. Now it's time for black women to create our own privilege: the privilege to date who we want, to marry who we want, to become as financially successful as we desire, to live in the best communities... This is what I want for all black women. I am so over everybody turning their nose down at black women. Don't they know we are the first original woman :)) They can try and duplicate but it will never be authenticated!
2 weeks, 2 days ago on From a Black Man’s Mouth: About All That Hate…
@marie_christine2 I remember those days. In the military interracial dating and marriage is nothing....unless you are a black woman. Can't count how many "brothas" had white, Asian, Hispanic wives that snubbed me when they saw a white guy talking, laughing, or showing interest in me. A great majority of black men went buck wild in Germany trying to hook up with a German woman but a sister dating a German man was almost burned at the stake!!
Thank you for addressing this. There is a long history of black men with mental/physical disability and police brutality. When you combine male, black skin, and a slow reaction time--you have a recipe for disaster. I have a nephew that has a sever speech problem caused by a botch surgery. His vocal cords do not produce legible sounds. He was teased mercifully growing up and has virtually morphed into a hunchback that doesn't talk. I too fear the day he has the courage to go out and about and is confronted by cops just for his look and size.
I think it is a combination of corrupt absolute power, skewed race relations, a warped sense of hierarchy and privilege at work. Many people don't like to admit that black skin means guilty until proven innocent in far too many parts of the world. It's not a regional thing or a red state problem. It is a people problem.

@Kimduo37 Awesome--another Sleepy Hollow fan. I am laughing at the Katrina'stans. Everybody knows there is zero chemistry between Katrina and Ichabod. As soon as certain women saw how cute and in shape Nicole was they went in. By episode 2 they were saying she was a horrible actor and that Lyndie Greenwood should take her place. Major shade that meant Nicole and Tom looked hot together and he looks to have a crush on her by looking at their off screen videos.

@Keioni 100% agree! These sentences--"Men who are interested approach. It is that simple. People keep saying men are simple but based on all the clues and hints they appear to need that clearly is not true".
3 weeks ago on Letter: White Men are Catching a Clue…
@ChocolateDiva Bulls eye! Guess you didn't get that memo declaring black women are responsible for everybody's actions, speech, thought, mind--their very existence :)) We are supposed to take all the debris heaped upon us and roll over....
3 weeks, 4 days ago on People Magazine Shows Racial Shade During Shonda Rhimes Big Network Television Night
Sad they didn't let this guy enjoy his moment. People can and will be cruel regardless of skin color, gender, socio economic class. This unfortunately is human nature. The only thing social media has done is given "nastiness" a bigger more visible platform. Society somewhat rewards bad behavior as you can see reality tv has some of the highest ratings. It should be no surprise because children are attacked because of their natural hair, bi-racial women are attacked because they have married a man that is unattractive and old in some people's eyes. We have even seen ugly statements launched against the blog mistress Christelyn. It will not stop...the only thing we can do is not participate and educated those in our circle.

@WendyH Great minds think alike :) I am a sucker for beautiful eyes. I saw a guy in Iraq with the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. I wish I could have taken a picture. If he ever left Iraq he would be an instant super model.

@Maxine @Tipper2 I am not just singling them out. The above poster was discussing her dealings with some racist segments of the hispanic community. Trust me, everybody takes advantage of a clueless black. I already addressed that in another post.
1 month, 1 week ago on Celebrity Interracial Couple, Daniele Watts and Partner Detained by L.A. Police Who Mistook Her for Hoe and Her “John”
@kiki jones @jesslabellefleur @oceanspray Totally understand and I concur. I don't want people to go into stereotype mode when they see me either.
@kiki jones @jesslabellefleur @oceanspray You might have misinterpreted my post. I didn't allude to throwing away a group of people. That would be insane :)) What I did say or meant to say was just because a person has skin similar to yours doesn't make them for you. Sort of like that "skin folk ain't necessarily kin folk" deal. We need to "vet" everybody, including other black people. I have seen the black community attach themselves to people just because they fit into a minority category. These same minorities don't give when they get. That is the gist of what I am trying to convey.
@jesslabellefleur @oceanspray There ya go! No amount of newbie gaslighters will change my mind about EVERYONE taking advantage of black gullibility. Racist society's best friend is a gullible and "coloblind" black person. They believe the "we are one" mantra. Of course the only people the benefit are non-blacks.
@oceanspray @Tipper2 @darkandlovely I have never been to Australia. I have seen documentaries and travelogues and would love to go one day. You are 100% right in saying Black women need to be aware and cognizant of race warfare on the job and in the real world. We can sing we are the world all we want to. Singing that won't keep the racists at bey. We have to be wise in navigating today's world.
@darkandlovely @Tipper2 @PaoloP You are 100% right. Like other world travelers, I have experienced racism in every single country I lived in. Varying degrees but same racism among Hispanic, Asians, whites, and Arabs.
@Maxine @Tipper2 Exactly! Notice how Hispanic special interest groups try and piggy back off of national policy aimed at protecting and empowering black folk? All of a sudden they want black groups (which are not that powerful to begin with) to have their back on illegal immigration and other protected rights. Yet they are silent when black people are attacked, abused, and killed. Dr. Claude Anderson talks a lot about the disparity and complicit attitude of many, not all, Hispanics.
@BeautyIAM @bellechose Mmm hmm..what you just said over and over.

@kiki jones @SirLoinDeBeef Speak on it!!
@FriendsofJay @ole'skool Thank you for you being thoughtful and kind towards women. Sometimes I have to wonder about men....
@ChristieRJohnson You look young and that probably translates to a lot of younger guys being attracted to you as well :))--nothing wrong with that.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Ask a White Guy: Older Men, Younger Women?
Interesting...won't waste time with the "nature or nurture" argument. I'll chalk it up to a preference. I have never been and never will be attracted to older guys. I see older men that take care of themselves and are not trying to relive their youth by snagging a young'un. That I can respect. When I get approached by an older guy I am always courteous and take it in stride. Before the conversation is over they know I am not into older men and they keep it moving.
@J Ndege No that is a horrible analysis. I don't allow any person to tell me where I fit on society's skewed ladder of worthiness. I have no problem attracting and having a quality relationship with any man. Color is just that, color. It doesn't affect a self-actualized woman from getting what SHE wants. Don't believe this bottom feeder drivel intended to reinforce age old stereotypes.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Open Forum: Okay; We Know White Men Married to Black Women are 44% Less Likely to Divorce. But Why?
@MySmile @mzsunshine @docwatson223 @Maxine @phillychick There ya go! The man that snags me is getting an exquisite diamond. Black women need to start "tooting" their own horns!!
@Tammy_Ghalden I heard about Family Tree as well. I would like to try multiple DNA companies for comparison. I would actually like the specific breakdown on FTD. The only thing I got from 23andMe was west Africa. I uploaded my test results from there to another site and found out about the Bantu regions of my ancestry.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Lineage: The Extraordinary Gift of Knowing Where You Came From
Good stuff. I tried the 23andme DNA kit. Seems as if the Nat Geo is a little bit more comprehensive. What shocked me is those of African descent don't have more "Arab" DNA. They enslaved Africans for centuries circa 14th century, even before white people got there, and are still practicing it today in certain parts of Africa. My 23andme results were 88% SSA (sub saharan african), 9% european, 2% other, 0.3% native american. I was pleasantly surprised to see the large amount of SSA. A great grandparent was half-white. Barring that genetic incident, my SSA would have probably been closer to 97% or more.
Think I will do the Nat Geo soon......
@oceanspray I totally agree. I take of me first :)

My new couple crush! She really is a beautiful person inside and out. She doesn't mince words or play "we are the world". She tells it like it is, the good and the bad. I like her honesty, boldness, and grace under fire.

Oh my goodness! I am living in Montgomery now. I remember the second case being shown on local news. I really hate how black women's lives mean absolutely nothing to the DBR black community and America at large. Black women take care of the whole world and in return we are vilified and diminished.
@mzsunshine @KingsDaughter Wow...can't stand this type of buffoonery. First it was said "inside of every gay man is a black woman". Utter nonsense!!
@kiki jones @darkandlovely Yes, too many times those of African descent turn a blind eye to reality. You really have to be honest with yourself first.

@Maxine @jesslabellefleur @Browncow I have nothing good to say about this woman...Ann Coulter is one of the worst media pimps out.
@Tammy_Ghalden A nasty piece of work there.....
@darkandlovely I can tell you it was painful and liberating at the same time. Painful because I thought all I had to was "stay in the dotted lines" not knowing the lines were not made for me or people like me. Liberating because it meant just being myself and caring one bit what TPTB thought.
@dani-BBW Excuse my typos. Time to clean my keyboard :))
@dani-BBW You are absolutely right. I used to be naive and took people for their word(s) but noticed their actions said revealed their true nature. I learned by getting my getting stabbed in the back so many times I should have bled to death.
Racism, sexism, ageism knows no political affiliation. There were just as many white conservatives as liberals that didn't give a flying flip about black people's plight prior to the civil rights era or now. I learned this a long time ago. I have to look at the individual person rather than a group.
Great job lady! Love to see the warriors 2.0

@chocolateadmiral @Yorkshireman in Michigan @MissFLondon @caligirl94117 Beautiful! Sometimes we are eager to throw out the baby with the bath water. Whenever I hear people mention "Shartpon & Jackson" in a sentence or phrase I get leery. No one is perfect and yes these two have had many missteps--but so have we. The only difference is their mistakes are public as with any public official. One thing I hate to hear is how people are saying Al Sharpton runs to these racial incidents seeking publicity and cash. He was called by Trayvon Martin's family and lawyer to get the awareness out about his murder. The grandfather of Mike Brown personally asked him on his show to go to Ferguson. No one is perfect.
