It's that pesky double standard demon rearing his head again...a lot of men want to be a woman's fetish because they see being sexually desired as powerful. From the beginning of time they have told women not to be this way as a means of keeping them in check.
I agree. We do have to be careful with that. If we are not balanced in our approach, we can do more harm than good.

@astridhallows That is interesting. I didn't know Brit guys were not keen on Asian women. Are they mainly into white women & other ethnicities then?

I am not mad at the Asian ladies...they found something that works and are going strong. However, there is more at work than femininity. We are all grown on this board, so hear goes. American males (white, black, Hispanic) have been known to flock to Asian women for decades, especially those in the military. It's legendary in all branches that American men feel Asian women will do anything sexually and will let a man do anything to them--I do mean anything. Some of the stories I heard while in Korea and Japan will make you gasp. Now that a lot American women are/have followed suit sexually, the Asian women still have their feminine wiles.
There is nothing wrong with being feminine. It feels good and you can attract cute guys at the same time--sounds like a win win.

@uninterracial This is true. Funny & true stories. Story #1. I went to the dentist a couple of years ago and had an older white lady as a dental tech. After she took xrays & did my cleaning she told me I had a cavity. I was like okay I will get to it. She told me I was too pretty to be walking around with a cavity. I was saying to myself what in the world?? She acted as if she was personally offended that I wasn't worried about looking nice as she was. My life doesn't revolve around looks.
Story #2. When I was in the military stationed in California, I had an Asian lady that worked in Burger King tell me I was too cute to be in the military. She told me I should be doing something to capitalize off my looks. I was kinda caught off guard on that one.
Story #3. Another Asian, this time a man also in California asked me why I wasn't married. He then proceeded to tell me I need to make sure I get married to a doctor or lawyer because it would go with my looks.

@SirLoinDeBeef @Elle White ouch....a little heavy on the stereotypes there. Mom may be an "educated" woman raising children on her own and not supportive of everything her DBR son does.

@kia Thank you!! I have had some discussions (sometimes heated) about Amber Riley being the first black woman winner on DWTS. I, just like yourself, mentioned that she was an awesome dancer just like some of the other awesome black women on before her time. However, I always had a feeling she was chosen because she was not a threat to white women's sexuality and their supposed number one spot as most desirable. A lot of black women took offense that I would mention her Oprah'esque qualities of soothing a certain segment of white people's fears and anxieties.

Woman strong....the stick of dynamite has been lit!! Christelyn, this post is everything. I feel every word that's written. This is an absolute clarion call for the sanity and heart of dying black women. I am seriously going to use this post at my church...sans the cuss words :))

@Lisa_Lisa Tell the truth lady. This is what sickens me. We are like prey in the open field--ready to be attacked by whomever that takes a fancy.

Rolling on the floor....exactly what you get Mr. Stepford. Most men are so caught up on looks (even when they look like Freddy Kreuger)--gotta love it!!

@LizzyLou You spoke....I find it so ironic that these same brothers won't a door for you will look stupid when a white catches the door for you--luv to see their faces when they know they have been outclassed :))

@ScorpioEnigma09 A woman after my own heart :)) I second everything you said. Taraji is big bossing on POI this season. It's so funny because I read the POI facebook page and some "people" are scared/dead set against any romance between Carter and John. At this point I just want Taraji to be a critical character on this show!!
1 month ago on Who Are Your Favorite Black Women On Prime Time?
@CAPT SMOOTH @PamelaFoster Yeah I don't think TPTB (the powers that be) want to mess with their dynamic already established. The closest chemistry I saw was the episode where they had the women dressed up in a club and Carter had to put her goods on display to reel in a suspect. The guy was thought to be killing women but wasn't. She was nervous because she thought the guy was after her and ran (literally) into Reese. They had some crazy off the chart eye chemistry but that was it.
Taraji P. Henson as "Detective Carter" on Person of Interest is my favorite at the moment. Nicole Beharie as "Lt Abbie Mills" is coming in at number 2.
@WendyHWow, had no idea about Jill. I always loved her Girlfriends. It always makes me laugh when they miscast black families. Isn't the little girl really really light but Jill and Orlando are both dark skinned....Yes there are times when the child can take after grandparents but I see this type of miscasting all the time!!

@PaigeinPhilly Yes I watched. They are bringing it every week. I am so excited that Nicole is a lead character. She has a refreshing aura.
Bravo Toni...you hit every salient point as to why black women will never reach true happiness--we are too busy waiting for permission from others that could care less!!
