Brad Wells twisting words, using old quotes out of context, SENSATIONALIZING trivial things?? Color me SHOCKED!!

Great read as always...A shame that the Colts weren't able to give us the same positive vibes we were getting the previous 2 weeks. Definitely agree with the game ball going to Bethea just for that tackle. An excellent display of pure manhood right there.
Re: Polian - I'm taking a leap of faith here. Jim Irsay has consistently made the right call for these Colts. He made the right call when he axed Bill Tobin and brought Polian in all those years ago, he made the right call by not playing "meddling owner" when we took a pass on Ricky Williams in favor of Edge, and he made the right call by playing "meddling owner" when he brought Dungy in despite (what I've heard were) objections by Polian.
I loved the guy as a personnel man, hated him as a human being. He was, quite frankly, a condescending jerkoff who talked to/of fans like they were small children and treated the local media (pre-agenda) and blogs (like 18to88) like they were less-than-dirt.
I'm not saying this is a cause for celebration. There are clearly scary, uncertain times ahead, I'm just saying that maybe our owner knows what he's doing. He's never given me a reason to think otherwise.

I just assumed Irsay and/or Polian would hire a coach with the same defensive philosophy, since they seem to love it so much. @JonathanCaldwell

Excellent work as always! This game was so bittersweet for me knowing that it was likely the last time I see some of my favorite Colts running around at the Luke. Our veterans really showed up big time, especially on defense. Mike Murphy is awesome - I've wanted Caldwell and his staff gone for a while now, but I now definitely hope we keep Mike with us. Regarding Reggie - I know I'll be one of hundreds of fans that dies of a broken heart if he goes, but boy what a hell of a way to go out on your last home game!
Hello. Is it me you're looking for?

Awesome analysis as always - and thanks for the shout out! This is seriously the one post I look forward to the most each week.
I love the move 85 put on Moore for that long TD. It seems like he's taken a huge step forward this year in light of 18's absence and I'm really excited to see how far he'll go next year. The way he's developed this season, I could see him going down as one of our all time greats. Perhaps even close to Harrison level as long as he manages to keep the dropsies away. I know it's way too early in his career to expect something like that, but my god he's been impressive considering who has been throwing to him lately. With 87 being in his waning years, it's nice knowing that we still have (what could and SHOULD be) an elite receiver.

Nate, have you watched Breaking Bad? If you haven't then I have to strongly recommend starting at season 1 and letting it fly. It's some great, powerful television. Also a good comedy to check out is It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I love the NBC comedies (er - the "non-new" ones), but Sunny beats the hell out of all of them.

We'll run better we just won't run as often. The ball will end up in Painter's hands and that'll be it.
whilst drinking tons of vodka! @GregC
I actually do think it was kind of a dick move to cut Muir basically while he's doing a team event. He's a good guy, thought he deserved better. Not as bent out of shape as certain bloggers, but couldn't been handled better
Oh! Thank god! @GregC
Oh my god am I listening to a podcast?!?!?
Fantastic write-up. Really enjoyed your fanposts/work "elsewhere", glad to see you've made it to a blog that actually roots for the Colts.
I agree with you on Powers being a little disappointing this year. During the whole soap opera of "where will Nnamdi go" I said something to the effect of "Powers will have a better year than Nnamdi". Although Nnamdi isn't looking great, I still feel pretty sheepish. I suppose it isn't entirely his fault, with him being a bit short and not able to really contend for the jump balls, but I had much higher expectations than what I've seen.
Looking forward to reading this weekly.

ALT+0231. I got your back, homey.
If I have to choose between the two, I think I'm going Garçon. I love Reggie, he's a classic Colt and one of my all time faves, but it certainly seems like he's starting to slow down just a step and I don't see it getting any better as he ages.
Yes, duh, it would have been vastly different had Wadley used the entire quote. When BBS posts something like that, he knows exactly what he's doing. He's taking a PIECE of what Jeff said, and twisting it around to support his own argument. "Herpy Derp, Jeffy thinks Caldwell sucks too so I'm right as usual!" Had he used the full quote, you know, the quote where Jeff says we were "outplayed, outclassed, outcoached in every facet of the game", then Braddy could have FAIRLY taken whatever shot he wanted at Caldwell and even used that snippet of the quote as "backup", even though that isn't necessarily where Jeff was going with what he was saying. Something to the effect of "Here's the full quote, here's my opinion, and here's Jeff's portion that makes me think he's on board with what I'm saying".
And who's to say the "outcoached" portion was even directed at Caldwell? Last time I checked, Caldwell didn't call the defense, and the defense allowed, what, 55 points?
By saying we were outplayed, was he then taking a shot at all of our players? Was he suggesting they all need to go? Freeney? Mathis? Wayne? Clark? Was he saying cut all of them? By saying we were outclassed, was he suggesting that the Colts are not a classy franchise? That Irsay is a bad owner? That the Polians, Tom Zupancic, Pete Ward, Tom Telesco and the gang are turning this football team into a bunch of classless cretins? I would tend to think not. I think he was embarrassed by the team's performance (who the f*** wasn't?) and was venting his frustration. Good for (and typical of) BBS to take the low road and misconstrue one snippet of an entire conversation. Was Jeff "misquoted"? No, he wasn't. That portion of his comment was, to my knowledge, word-for-word. Was his quote used COMPLETELY out of context? Absolutely.
Either way, not sure why I've wasted my time typing this out. I've always known you to be one of BBS's biggest apologists and I'm sure one comment isn't going to change that.
