This is the pros not fantasy hockey. Why would Boston even consider this deal, let alone that both guys the Rangers are trading can walk after the season. Btw I would not make this deal in fantasy either if I was trading the 2Bruins guys

Don't think Marchand would fit. Avery would stick up for others and fight. Marchand annoys then hides. Rangers have no one to ride shotgun. He can play how he plays in Boston because of their roster make-up. Think Callahan has most important 6 weeks of NYR career ahead. Has to convince he is worthy of 4-5 yr 6+ mil commitment. Has been injury prone and best days could be behind. Think Sather should seriously investigate what return would be in trade. Trading Girardi falls under same idea as Callahan less the injuries. Team is going to need a turnover and they have some tradable pieces if they decide that not signing Cally and Girardi is way to go.
Trade MDZ ASAP. They both need to move on and what team in their right mind is going to give anything of great value for him.
I think we have to see what transpires between now and the opening roster and cap number. I still think Boyle will be moved for a pick and Asham & Powe will be elsewhere. If Staal is healthy and playing well he will always be a great trade chip and there will be lots of teams that will want him. Can you say Carolina? Guess my point is to trade him to create cap space may be shortsighted. Besides, no team is going to give anything of value until he proves he can handle a regular NHL shift. He will be on the opening night roster, another injury aside.

I'm surprised that lots of people were disappointed that Bettman shot down the unions proposal. Still don't think both sides won't get down to any meaningful discussions until after Labor Day with the lockout definitly happening. The sad thing is that both sides know where a deal can/will be made but have to play games to get there. My prediction...split will be at 52-48 for players, ufa age will be backed up a year and owners will get the 4 years b4 rfa in exchange for slightly higher minimun. I think the trading of cap money will never happen but a team will be able to trade players and pay part of salary against its own cap, ala Jagr. Lastly, to prevent front loading of contracts going forward, salary will have to be same every year of contract or the cap will reflect real value of particular years salary.
Now that we all understand one another let's sign and play hockey!
