As others have said, time attack is what really took my love of Japanese cars to the next level. Love these posts. Of course the fd, Evo, s2000 and under are awesome cars and they inspire me but having gone from a Wrx that had a more functional setup to a GE8 Honda Fit for my 70 mile round trip commute and daddy duties, the Suzuki Swift going 59.4 is super inspirational. Can't wait for this feature. All the little details please! Tire and wheel sizes, suspension mods, weight reduction and aero, would love to know how it went sub60! Thanks again Dino!

I'm diggin' the hood louvers!  Hot Rod builders building an FR-S, pretty cool and can't wait to see the end result.

Awesome!  With Speedweek here, but cancelled due to rain:(, I've been a big time hot rod mood and this was just the story I was looking for.

Brizio does amazing work!  Cool to see shops like this busy with projects.

Man dudes like Gene are so cool.  Such good people!  What a cool story!  I love that his shop is down the road from where I grew up.  My dad has cruised by his place on the way to work a few times.  Love these old customs!

@777  @Dekro I don't know what all Nakai-san does in building these cars, but I know he is very into the total performance of his Porsche's, just look at the Idlers Games and all the Porsche events they hold at race tracks in Japan.  He's a one man shop.  I'd say fabbing these body parts and custom fitting them and get the stance set up and achieving the look and also being able to drive them hard, that's what I enjoy about these RWB cars.

Agreed on your statement about Eric being one of those great guys who happens to be into cars.  Eric has done an amazing job building up JDM Legends and has only success in his future.  Way to go Eric!  A much deserved feature!

Awesome post Mike, but as you mentioned earlier, photographing the Salt Flats is kinda like cheating.  :)  haha  I love the history and the hot rods.  Its just as much or even more why I go.  This is my 6th Speedweek and I'm hooked for life, I'll go every year until I die.

See if you can spot the dark blue S14 with an RB26.  The class record is only 203mph, so he should get a red hat.  They're geared to go 220MPH.  Love all the crazy cool builds and variety at B'ville.

Love this set of photos.  That 3rd photo is a '61 Dodge Pioneer.  I noticed it in the pits today and talked with the owner.  He drove it (and broke down 3 times haha) from Canada.  What a beautiful car, one of my favorites on teh salt this year.  That last photo was my favorite from the Nugget last night, what a crazy cool pickup rod!  Keep the photos coming Mike!

I was there at Bonneville last night and today with my 2 older boys and my cousin from Idaho.  We had a great time (stoked we didn't get wet last night in our tent at the "bend in the road").  We took advantage and grabbed some early morning photo ops with my WRX and my cousin's e36 M3.  Salt Fever!!!  That "Bonneville or Bust" 29 Model A Roadster came out from Nebraska, Nick Hoesing is the owners name, he just got it on the road a few weeks ago.  You can find his build thread here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=567286&page=39&highlight=malcolm
