@Ginidietrich great breakdown, here. Focusing in on #2 -- that challenge of making a product or service a little more real by great story telling. Always a challenge. But a fun challenge. Definitely am going to pick up delivering happiness!
Nice to meet you, @lizreusswig! Happy #FF!
@creativeoncall @belllindsay @Matt_Cerms I am only envious of your abilities, Chuck. And that is a great story! To add to that-- battle of the bands has been going on here in the office. They love their tunes at BBDO!
So, essentially, @creativeoncall gets two Follow Fridays because of his catchy songwriting and singing ability? Is that the best way to sum it up, @belllindsay? :)
@ginidietrich I REALLY like point #6. For starters, it's hard to convince some brands to think in depth about Google+. The platform can play a crucial role for a brand's online presence, like you pointed out. At almost 350 million users, you think it would starting get more love from some of these brands? Ignoring just about anything Google... will come back to bite you.
@JoeCardillo @creativeoncall @Matt_Cerms Chuck, you might want to claim copyright on the phrase. It is gold! I'm trying to run some melodies in my head. Stand by, guys...
@creativeoncall @Matt_Cerms Love it. I must say, we are pretty luck to have Spin Sucks as part of our morning routine. I know "you can only suck up so much in the comments section" -- but this community is what social networking is all about: learning, laughing, and inspiring. And I'll take a listen to the Social Pros podcast! Thanks, Chuck!
@creativeoncall how long did it take for you to come up with these fine lyrics? I'm going to guess not too long (hence your Twitter handle)....
Love it, Gini. The client has to be passionate about the importance of effective communication. And it's not just about mass communication efforts. That communication has to be transparent. It has to be human. Like you mentioned, the client can't just be thinking about traditional PR & Spin practices. They have to understand and believe in the integrated communication effort that gets put in place to achieve results. In the end, it starts with a specific attitude.
@ginidietrich Would. Be. Impossible. Really is insane to think about no internet. But I think the social media aspect is worth talking about more. Companies restricting it is a bit more common.
So, the majority of people on here today are in favor of having social media access in a work setting. This is because we feel strongly about online networking. We use these tools very much to our professional advantage. This notion needs to be transfered into other industries!
Great to meet you, Amber-Lee! And thank you for your Service! I always like meeting or learning about people who found their calling and ran with it right away. It appears that life has been very fulfilling for you. And that's something I'm striving for! Happy Friday, everyone!
@ginidietrich I think that's totally appropriate since I owe you Mexican. We should go to Big Star soon.
@chrisbrogan Sorry for being in and out -- I had to run to lunch and then a meeting. Thanks for the advice, Chris. Writing to serve or to help in some way really hits home. And thanks @ginidietrich for making this happen! #YouRock
Chris, I don't blog enough and it bothers me. Are you in the school of thought where you think 1 theme is the way to go or is it ok to have a few? Also, I saw that you write 4k words a day -- what outside influences, if any, inspire you to write?
@EdenSpodek Totally! And being a sociology minor, I definitely look at these types of situations from a sociological perspective. Why the people of these companies/stores do what they do. Gives me a feel for how the executives at the top think and how that translates down the ladder. If brands are adamant about spending serious time on social to help the customers, that tells me something!
Nice post, Eden! If a store is social savvy and is capable of helping the customer that way -- I immediately think they are trustworthy and credible. If certain brands don't offer it, I don't have as much respect for the brand. Not saying I won't stop buying from that store, but I sure don't think as highly of them. Maybe it's because I love social media? :)
Top of the afternoon, Gini! Very jealous of the warm weather.
Turning off the wifi access is key. I usually get large amounts of writing done when I travel. Especially when I'm on the train because of the lack of wifi. No wifi plus a great playlist of tunes usually does it for me. I need the music especially when I'm writing something personal. Inspiration has to come from somewhere, right?
@JacobHoward I definitely see you point. I was just trying to think of it in a similar but different way. Thanks for the response!
Gini, Thanks fo the mention! It seems like nothing ever ceases to amaze us and disturb us. Sorry to hear about this, Amy. In regards to the Te'o story, Hawaii has an incredibly high identity theft rate compared to most states. Crazy, crazy stuff.
