If Russell gets a steal off one of the first few plays, runs down and throws down a monstrous dunk, there will be a crater where Chesapeake Arena used to be. The collective noise and minds blown will combine to be very explosive and will leave a 30 feet deep crater where the arena once was. Hopefully, it will take an empty cox arena with it.

Factor of the game: Nick Collison the only player who played less than double digit minutes. He was 3 of 3 for 6 points. Poor, poor coaching Brooks. The one player on the team who can change the pace, through his body to the wind, make the plays that need to be made but you don't play him a single second of the 4th quarter. I don't think I saw him in the 3rd either, someone might have to correct me. Plus Martin works his best with Nick, probably solving some of Martin's problems. Gotta think Collison earns you atleast 6 points off good screens only. Presti needs to get his head out of his you know what and start to think about that mindset he uses to justify keeping Scott Brooks.

as much as i like this group and their creative ways to down on people, i think we have sufficiently more problems than just D-fish. because we all know we don't complain when he is swishing shots in clutch moments. Westbrook, who is usually the ire of these problems, is not even really close to be the main problem. he has been doing amazing as of late. As me and my father sat down watching the game in a bar at Hot Springs, Arkansas with beautiful waitress and town know-it-all along with a few drunk college students, we came up with some of the major problems with the Thunder. On a constant basis, our bench gets absolutely outworked. K-Mart is good for scoring but outside of him is little consistency with even Kmart being not as reliable as he could be. Especially with a team like the Nuggets, they had a team that had scoring across the board equally to about 7-8 people being able to score double figures. With the Thunder, its about four. Thabo can't really do it consistently and neither can Perk. So you have Russell, Kevin Durant, and Ibaka. Reggie hasn't built up enough confidence and we tend to not get collison the ball enough to get him in to double digits on a consistent basis. Next, we have an extreme rebounding problem. We have no real rebounder on our team. Someone, such as the nuggets have in Faried, thats sole reason for being on the team is to crash the boards. Too many times do the Thunder players just get back in transition and lose countless easy offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds because they are just not interested in getting them. Third, the thunder are lacking of really any good offensive coaching. i find myself from time to time feeling like Scotty Brooks is just a bit under talented when it comes to coaching the talent he has. It seems too many times he just says the normal coaching stuff to his players and relies solely on the great ability of Kevin, Russell, and Ibaka to carry the team. OKC gets into too many isolation plays with Kevin and Russell, and however good they may be, it doesn't really bode well for the rhythm of the rest of the team. Times when we have gotten other players going during games is when we made an effort to get out of isolation and create good on and off the ball movement. But just my thoughts, you guys make think what you will.

@Lost Ones  @OKC035 its a problem with how he dribbles.

1 year, 4 months ago on Thunder vs. Grizzlies: Pregame Primer

Reply

@OKC035 i personally don't think there is a issue. I think there is more an issue with our offense. Yes,we are crazy efficient in offense this year. but the problem comes down to in the late minutes when we run no offense. its either a few set plays or two on five. which usually ends in no penetration, bad shots by either russell or KD or a decent make in because of the awesome ability of those two. we do pass out of those sets sometimes, but most of the time the offense just becomes two stagnant, oppossing defenses focus on these two, and no other player on the floor is in rhythm because of our reliance on a two man offense for late game situations or for whole games.

@GoodKid That's not the smart decision. Brewer has even less experience in Oklahoma City's system then most of the rookies do. Fisher however is used to the system. He also has more years under his belt making him a little bit more malleable with a higher BBall IQ. We haven't had a need for Brewer just yet in any kind of minutes and Fisher's minutes, even though they might seem useless, are cohesive to the overall future development of the team.

What i have come upon realization of these past few days with all the Jordan celebrations and such is that Lebron James will never be what Michael Jordan Was and still IS. Michael means so much more to Chicago and still does than Lebron does to Miami. Lebron James might end up as the most physical player to ever play the game, but Jordan had a unique combination of finesse and strength, a soft touch with powerful playmaking. Jordan is and always will be one of the best marketers of the sport of basketball, one point which no player for many more years will reach. People have more rings than him, more all-star games, more awards in different areas, but Jordan proficiency in so many areas of the game at the highest levels of the sport and his ability to set the bar so high it might just be unattainable is what makes Jordan the best player to ever play the game.
