He's right. 'Bama had the good fortune that UGA's staff turned the final drive of the SECCG into a clusterf***.
1 year, 3 months ago on Richt Praises Bama But Says “Good Fortune” Plays A Role In Titles
I don't get it. What's the rationale for not counting the 9th game? Just play 9 conference games and count them. If Saban's not worried about the impact of the 9th game on SEC playoff chances, why should anyone else be? He's the one with the standing invite in the NCAA title game.

I absolutely would not want that jackass in orange and blue. He is an embarrassment and deserves what's coming to him on Saturday.

The fact that Espn apologized for these comments is too ridiculous to even discuss. I highly recommend clicking on the above link to Tannehill's wife and scrolling all the way down though.

“Nick Saban knows more about football than I ever will and his record as a coach is a helluva lot better than mine as a governor.”
This pretty well sums it up. I would have run it 4 straight too though. I guess after two National Titles in three years and another sec title probably on the way, Saban gets a mulligan on this one.

Here's the question: is Long more likely to get fired if he hires Petrino back, or if he doesn't hire Petrino back? Arkansas should have just kept him and dealt with the heat. Johnson's right. If Clinton can sex up a white house intern and thrive and Kobe and Rothlisberger can ball their way past rape allegations, hiring your mistress shouldn't register a blip.
1 year, 11 months ago on Ex-Hog, Cowboys Coach Johnson Says Arkansas Should Re-Hire Their Ex
I think Gators might get 'em this year. It will be interesting to see Gators' experience vs. Kentucky's talent. Tennessee will have a shot in the east too. I think it's very unlikely that this class has an Anthony Davis and a Gilchrist in it. Those are very rare players.

Spurrier completely owned this guy on the twitter deal last year. You would think he would learn. But I don't think processing information is Dabo's strong point.
2 years ago on Spurrier Gigs Clemson, Swinney Gigs Carolina
The only thing Saban needs is longevity. He's like a guy hitting .400 but without enough ABs to qualify for the batting title. I'd say he needs another five years at 'Bama before he's considered a true southerner like the guys mentioned above. No carbetbaggers on SEC Mt. Rushmore. That's why Meyer can't sniff it despite two national titles. Spurrier chose SC, in part, so he could play rounds at Augusta. That is SEC style.
Also, while winning NCs at two SEC schools in the modern era is an incredible achievement, I have to say Saban has not bumped up against teams as good as Miami and FSU were when Spurrier was doing his thing at UF (not to mention Nebraska with Tommie Frazier, Lawrence Phillips, et al.).

Without knowing the substance of the underlying claim, it's hard to know how important Summit's affidavit would be in the litigation. But if it is important, Tennessee would have no choice but to go after Summit's mental state when she signed that affidavit. That affidavit was most likely drafted by the attorney and given to Summit to sign. It's a legitimate question to ask if she understood what she was signing her name to. Beating up a stricken Pat Summit in court is obviously out of the question, so I would expect this plaintiff to get PAID in a settlement.
Tough situation for Hart. He saw first-hand how hard it was to drag Bobby Bowden out of the locker room and the damage that did to the program. He was probably determined to bring this situation to a quick and merciful end, and look at what he steps in.
2 years ago on UT Athletics In Hot Water Now That Summitt Has Backed Ex-Employee’s Lawsuit
Love Spurrier, but he is way out of line. Threatening a guy's livelihood in this economy, given the state of the newspaper industry, is inhumane. What if this guy's got a family to support? Spurrier's going to blow up their household, because this guy raised legitimate questions about two controversial decisions? I used to work as a reporter, and it boggles my mind how people can't understand that a journalist's job is to ask questions. Reporters should ask tough questions and they should demand answers. That said, Spurrier's actions don't surprise me. The fact that the newspaper is apparently considering this is what's really appalling.
2 years ago on Doyel: Spurrier Needs To Worry About Coaching, Not The Media
HoustonVol, would you take Petrino? Petrino at UT would scare me a little bit. More than Spurrier at USC actually. Spurrier is obviously a better coach but SC has a lower ceiling than Tennessee.
2 years ago on UGA's Dooley The Elder Takes Up For UT's Dooley The Younger
What would concern me, if I were a Vol, and I thank the good lord I am not, is that Dooley's teams aren't tough. Toughness meaning you outhit the other team and keep composed. Toughest team wins the SEC these days, (notable exception: Cam Newton) and toughness filters down from the coach. Bama, LSU and SC have the best blend of toughness and talent. Florida's on the come. Georgia's always talented, but their lack of mental toughness holds them back. That's why Spurrier OWNED Richt. Dooley's teams fold under pressure (although perhaps there's some residual from Lane Kiffin's influence). I was concerned about Muschamp last year, but I'm starting to see it from his teams. I think he needed to clear out all the Meyer-coddled mama's boys.
There is something missing from this team: Bobby Petrino. Here's what the A.D. should have said: "Bobby Petrino's actions were morally repugnant. But, in all candor, we're sick of being middle of the pack in the SEC and want to win. So we're keeping him. That is all."

2 years, 1 month ago on Got Stupid? A&M Taunts UF With Billboard In Gainesville
@John at MrSEC I'm generally for four years too. Zook was arguably premature at three years, but you just got the sense that he didn't have his stuff together enough to progress beyond a 7-5 or 8-4 coach. I like Muschamp, but UF is not a place to learn on the job period.
2 years, 1 month ago on MrSEC.com’s Hot Seat Rankings: At 5-7, How Much Trouble Would Your Coach Be In?
Why wouldn't it be fair for Muschamp to be on the hot seat at 5-7? I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to see improvement over last year. Meyer maybe didn't leave him with the exact guys to run his system, but he left him with a senior quarterback, the no. 1 high school qb (driskel was a Meyer recruit), two backs and a receiver that have been making plays in the NFL preseason, and everybody on that defense. How many $2.75 million paychecks does Muschamp get to cash before Gator fans can start expecting something out of this team?
@AustinVol My post works better with Austin Vol though.

@AustinVol Pardon me, db20207.
@db20207 @AustinVol You just sit tight Austin Vol. Just because Calipari is smart enough not to be photographed with his recruits at an illegal barbecue doesn't mean nothing is going down.
A Kentucky program that wins the national title and has its entire roster drafted is the number 1 national story in college basketball. I would guess the reason Thamel keeps following Calipari is because he KNOWS there is a huge story there and he wants to break it.
Also as explanation for not sniffing an SEC Title: you are Arkansas in a division with LSU and Alabama.
2 years, 2 months ago on Hog Safety's Comments Suggest Petrino's Love Of Offense Might Have Hurt Defense
I'm going to go ahead and say Petrino's focus on offense was a net positive for Arkansas.
ESPN ran an interesting story on Matthieu recently that gave me the impression that Matthieu's act was wearing a little thin at LSU. I suppose LSU was already aware that the hammer was about to come down when it was written. With a real shot at the MNC this year, I can't imagine Miles would want him hanging around, distracting guys from the job at hand.
2 years, 2 months ago on LSU Players Move On, But Report Claims Mathieu Wants To Return
I would wager he will be running a major program within three years. He'll be leading the Tennessee resurgence while Arkansas returns to middling status. College athletics, athletics period, is a mercenary business. Concessions to morality will be punished. Florida had to pretend they cared that Cam Newton stole a laptop and it might have cost them a national title.
