Copied from Vin Scully is my Homeboy: "Last year, for the second consecutive season, Dodger affiliates posted one of the top combined winning percentages among big league teams, ranking third with a .531 mark (404‐357), with four of seven farm teams reaching the postseason." If the farm is so thin why are those teams doing so well? Full of AAAA players?
@The Monocle I say go for it. I first found this bourbon at Costco and it has since disappeared and been replace by a strikingly similar bottle but now with a Kirkland label. It's cheaper than the woodford at bevmo but just as golden delicious http://kybourbontrail.com/images/uploads/woodford-reserve-shot.jpg
Does Kemp have a no-trade clause? He signed with previous ownership that shall not be named
@VietnamDodger You could put six packs of be- soda in here
Anyballs Sanchez anybody? He's probably going to "test the market" since money isn't an issue, let's throw a boatload. If not Grienke, he may be a solid #2
Did anyone catch the "interview" that Blow.J. Simers did with Beckett after last night's game? That second pitch homer definitely made me throw up in my mouth a little, but calm down Simers. Whatta dooosh. http://www.vinscullyismyhomeboy.com/2012/08/tj-simers-tells-josh-beckett-you-dont.html?m=1
So glad Carlos Lee didn't want to play in LA
Why thank yous
First this gigantor trade happens. Any coincidence Petriello writes from a buddy's wedding... I got married last night! Now Vinny is back? Usually it's the women who dream about their wedding day all their lives, but now my fairytale is complete
@LA Woman Yeah ugh. That sounds painful. He should probably see a doctor
@Gilbert_Vengeance Dangit... So would I
Anybody else concerned that the Dodgers are now a perfect candidate for the next season of 'The Franchise' on showtime? Never watched the show, but it seems like reality TV could easily poison a clubhouse. I don't want that to happen
@DBrim @Mike Petriello @kempsbat Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday > Steve Lyons and other guy. For not being able to see the game, radio ain't half bad
@EephusBlue Plus it seems like mechanics and velocity might have a lot to do with it. I know Stras throws 100+ and Kershaw is mid 90s but other than that I can't avoid my boss' gaze long enough to do a real analysis
Just heard a bit of Scott Boras on the radio talking about limiting Strasburg. Stras is only 4 months younger than Kershaw, but Kershaw has almost 900 innings in the majors where Stras has around 200. Boras brought up Steve Avery who was an awesome young pitcher who threw 700+ innings before the age of 24... And then "fell off a cliff." Obviously Stras had TJ surgery so it makes him a different story, but I'm listening to Boras' comments about Steve Avery's decline and starting to worry long term about Kershaw. Sorry to put a damper on your morning
@DBrim @Gilbert_Venge And you're right, they're still good. But I don't think WAR takes into account morale or catalyst effects. If you have a player puttin up Roidin Braun or A-Roid type numbers, that player is going to be a catalyst for the offense, and the loss of that player may possibly affect morale of the team as a whole. So while I agree with you, I think the loss of Melky is the loss of more than 1.25 wins
@DBrim @Gilbert_Venge Semi-related but still noob question. Can a player have a negative WAR?
Melky's a douche, he and all other roiders deserve to be punished. That being said, I must admit I am a little bummed. Would like to see the Dodgers ruin a solid (if cheating) SF rather than a wounded one. I knew the Colorado series was not to be trusted and was feeling like we would have taken first anyway. Having some heat going into the post season seems like better preparation than cruzing into the playoffs. Still knocking on wood though, lots of baseball left
Cruuuuuuuuuz
For some reason my phone can't handle returns and new paragraphs. The "I cringed and laughed..." is my comment
