Its unusual for coaches to speak out about other programs discipline etc but I don't really have a problem with it when it has a ring of truth....Patterson is correct about one thing for sure, if the tigers started the season with lets say Samford etc, hill would probably be suspended for the first game!

How about the Coaches, AD's and Presidents acting like adults and be responsible for their actions and those they over see and do the right thing and none of this would be an issue!  If u punish the School/Administration...these problems will disappear in short order!

I think the ncaa with all it's concerns for "student athletes" should mandate a policy for all div I teams as far as drug testing....the frequency...punishments for each failed drug test etc...yes I know it would be expiensive, but if you can't afford to play by the rules etc, then drop down a level where more than a few teams should be anyway!

@John at MrSEC @badbadhoggie Yes i'm sure it can be very expensive, and I don't have a clue as to who gets tested or how often??  I'm just saying that the penalties for failed test should be the same for all athletes and not left up to the coaches or ad's!

I thought the ncaa was all about taking care of the student athlete, his or her well being and making sure everyone is playing by the same rules???  Why don't they just add another paragraph to the massive rule book and set a standard for all student athletes and take it out of the hands of ad's/coaches etc...then we have no issue as to punishment being to lax etc...

It amazes me what some so called "educated people" say...he should be fired today...I don't for a second think it was an attempt at humor!  The Midwest Runner Ups know that the Irish would steal to much of the publicity and lime light if they were to join the wanna be's!  They won't fire him because he's always been something of a loud mouth little weasel!  Answer me one question, what if u replaced the catholics/sec with a SWAC school or other predominately African American university would Ohio Who just apologize and let this blow over, I don't think so!

Sounds like a familiar story to me, at least our little Jessica fell into a no work gravy job, dated the a rich HC and lived the good life for a short time before BP kicked her to the curb literally!  This young lady is a UT grad, a lawyer and hooks up with some broke azz college kid, Come on Vol Nation your better than that!

This sounds like the ramblings of an OverRated Under Perfroming team for many years...Yes ole Bobby has had some success in what is a mediocre league for a few years, but always ranked way to high and always seems to falter down the stretch...I would think from the Top, Middle and Bottom of the league the Big XII is very average at best!  Just sounds like sour grapes from a coach, in a conference with no  direction, teams leaving as fast as they can rent U-Hauls to get out of town...I say let UT and OU form their own 2 team conference and play each other 12 times a year and hope for mid tier bowl  game!

Just courious as to why Chizik thinks Auburn is the most "Scrutinized" program in the country, maybe the last 30yrs of investigations has something to do with it?  I know one thing for sure, when u get away with paying/cheating etc and the ncaa feels certain there are past or present violations but cant prove it, ie Scam Newton...they will hang around for a couple years and catch you the next time u slip up!  The lesson boys and girls is,  don't try to get slick with the ncaa police and try to embarrass them!

Theres no way Smith should have been given a contract longer than what he got, he seemed to be a nice guy although a little odd at times but it was a stop  gap hire and their were no other options so late in the spring to hire a quality head coach long term...it turned into a dumpster fire of a season without a doubt, but it was the only choice at the time...If some of the players "shut it down" mid season, shame on them and with that attitude the football futures are most likely will see very little sucsess!  As far as a few coaches wanting the HC job, thats crazy no one on the staff had the expierence to be hired to run the program period...The hogs will struggle in the sec west for  sure, but with the facilities/money available their not about to hire an unproven co-ord/asst to take things over!

Mizzou gets an $8 million dollar gift which for most of us is an Incredible amount of money, but in college sports in general, the SEC in particular..it's a drop in the bucket and may build u at best a decent baseball facility...i think the Alum's/boosters etc are going to have to dig very deep to keep up with the SEC Facitly Arms Race...

Looks like the ncaa screwed this up big time, haith and miami may get lucky and get out of this mess before its all said and done?  The ncaa however does have a long memory, and it looks like haith and others were dealing under the table and will get off on a botched investigation, but there will be "Eyes" on him and his program for years to come, we will see if he can do it the right way?

 This is true....but we sent our lying cheating harley riding coach a packing now didn't we!  And yes i look forward to playing the tigers again, there were some great games in the past with Nolan Richardson and Norm Stewart, always exciting and a packed house...And now that we'll compete against each other in other sports it should make for a nice rivalry in the future...

 There will be sanctions thats for sure, and i'm guessing it won't be the last time they have a chat with mr haith in the future...good to hear that your glad Anderson is gone, we're glad to have him...whe will see long term who made the better choice?  And i to can't wait for Moo U to be our permenant west division apponent, theings will get much easier for the hogs also...it's getting sweeter by the moment...i understand your at a disadvantage, pinkel can't coach on tuesday's and thurdays due to his state alcohol abuse classes he must attent...

 Surely Moo U had to know all this was coming when they hired Haith, he was under ncaa heat/scrutiny whle still at the U....I realize they were caught somewhat shorthanded when Mike Anderson left for the UofA...But with his limited sucsess and reputation it still baffles me as to why they made the hire in the first place?  If they choose to keep him, it's a steep price to pay for what appears to be an average coach at best!  I'm not anti mizzou and always enjoyed the rivalry between the tigers and my Hogs!  And as far as football is concerned, the tigers have a long way to go and will learn the same lesson the Razorbacks did 20+ yrs ago, it's a whole different world competting in the Big XII/Southwest Conference and navigating your way through the SEC, i'm sure they believe they are ready to compete, i guess they will have to learn the hard way each saturday in the fall!

I'm sure Mizzou isn't surprised at the news and possible sanctions headed their way, they obviously knew what they were getting and the baggage that comes with Haith when they hired and and felt it was worth the risk at the time, not neccesarily a smart hire but their big boys and it was their choice!

So the loud mouth big 10 commish added maryland, rutgers and now wants virginia and g-tech...let him have them..yes they are nice tv markets, but from a football standpoint which is what drives all the moves it seems pretty lame to me...rutgers is a flash in the pan team...maryland,virgina days have long since past...good luck

This is true, but the irish did play the powerhouse Navy, Purdue, BYU, Boston College, Wake Forrest and the mighty trojans...not exactly a Brutal schedule week to week!  And remembr against those powerhouse teams, there were to many close games/a little luck etc involed!!

Josh is talking like someone who's a little worried about his programs direction?  Tiger high has to play tenn or other sec teams each year, strickly for football scheduling alone...with the uncertainty of the big east memphs can't play austin  pea every saturday in the glorious liberty bowl!

The heat is being turned up on Josh due to what many say is his underachieving teams since being hc with his highly touted recruiting classes...think he's getting a little nervous and doesn't really want to schedule any tough non conf games at home if he can get away with it....he says its not about tenn, ark or ole miss but he's obviously feeling the pressure having an average team with a weak schedule and still struggling to win most games...let him play his beloved Louisville along with tenn tech, autin pea etc at home and ignore the local rivalries and the fed ex forum will be a ghost town in the near future...not to mention without tenn, ole miss and others that wont play the tigers in football in the future, they may have to join a basketball only league and drop down to div 1aa in football with the big east fiasco they find themselves in!

Tennessee needs  to be realistic, they scream that UT is a top ten job all the time....the only people that say that are a few reporters/bloggers...obviously the coaching profession doesn't think so...yes it's a good job with nice facilities, fan support etc, but most bcs level schools can offer the same!  Maybe they need to quit making excuses as being the "Harvard of the South" and the acedemic standards are to high for coaches to compete and to recruit the top althetes, give me a break!  This isn't the 70's/80's most all programs have plenty of money when needed and are playing on something of a more level play field these days...remember the only school that  can live in the past and get away with it is Notre Dame...

 Auburn does have a definate recruiting advantage and a slightly better tradition, but as far as financial resourses and facilities Ark easily matches and probably has better overall facilities than au at the moment...

Just heard it on the,radio here in memphis on one of the local talk show host John Rainey "The Rainman" his reliable source told him that the day after the vols-miss st game an offer of was made to gruden of $30 mil over 6 yrs and gruden wanted less yrs and more money, so tenn offered 4yrs and the same $30mil over 4 yrs and he accepted the offer and it will be announced soon after the Kentucky game?  Now it's all settled and everyone can start looking elsewhere!!  Now who do my HOGS hire? dayum lol

I think Rex would be a disaster in the college ranks, sure his mouth/bravado would go over for a short time, but like anyone else if he doesn't produce a remarkable turn around and the losses start piling up the fans etc will leave him by the thousands, just like they are in NY...not to mention could he be trusted to keep the ncaa away from the UK doors???
