My hope is that Notre Dame is forced to join a conference (really could care less which one) so this ridiculous favoritism and fawning over the bead stringers ends once and for all. Anyone who believes ND belongs in the National Championship game when they are given a free pass to blow off a conference championship game just because....well, JUST BECAUSE.... Doesn't believe in the idea that every team should play by the same set of rules as every other Division 1 team. If I were in control, every conference would play a championship and every team would be in a conference- the only exceptions being service academies in years when the country is at war. NO ONE has the right to a free pass to the National Championship game.

My sources tell me that there and many people in the program - both male and female - ready and willing to testify against Jennings in this case. If she's able to survive a summary judgment motion to dismiss her claim, the attorneys will likely work out a settlement behind closed doors to save Summit the embarrassment of testifying, but that is no small feat in Federal Court. I'd guess that more than half of all discrimination cases are dismissed pursuant to a motion for summary judgment.

Ok, let me address the elephant in the room: the reason this REALLY blows is that it causes all the fantasy players to commit to team selections on Thursday night, before all the injury reports are finalized. Bad enough after Thanksgiving, but for the entire season? Horrible.
My guess is that next year's rule will allow players who had helmets intentionally removed, or who lost their helmets while obscured under a pile, to stay on the game after inspection. More importantly, it will allow refs to call a 15 yard penalty and automatic 1st down against players responsible for intentional removal. So it is written. So shall it be done.

All in all, a great week for the SEC, save Auburn's performance against Clemson and Kentucky's expected flop with Louisville. Now we get into the meat of the schedule. Really looking forward to the GA/Mizzou and FL/TAM games this Saturday. What an outstanding way to welcome these two newcomers to the SEC. If any Georgia fans reading this are headed to Columbia this weekend, be sure and stop by The Heidelberg for a beer before or after the game. I wandered into the place 4 years ago and met some wonderful people there. I can't wait to get back there someday!
