@BrandonALawson I would dispute that guns were controlled in this situation. That aside, I was just trying to point out that the answer to this problem is a lot more complex than either "take the guns away" or "arm everyone." Everyone in this theater packing heat and trying to take out the gunman could have been much worse than it was, just as allowing concealed weapons may prevent violence in other situations.

In a dark, tear gas filled theater , with terrified people running around doing everything they can to find a safe place, do we really want armed citizens firing weapons at what they think is the shooter?
