"...I can tell you that most writers do not carry grudges, even though most fans believe all writers do." Please. Most fans don't even know which writer they're reading at any given moment. All fans care about is information about their team. Writers have never been important in the world of sports, and in this day and age of the Internet, their worth is next to zero.
Your mom must be very proud.
At Tennessee a player can drink underage and commit felony destruction of property twice and Dooley will be even more flippant. Bray wasn't suspended for even a minute.
@John at MrSEC Thanks. Didn't see it.
Here's a link to the Saban video: http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1392744
There's is a purpose for little thing Saban does, including getting angry. That's why he's as good as he is.
Underage drinking and no destruction of property? That's not even silly behavior in Derek Dooley's book.
John, where can we download the podcasts?
@John at MrSEC Here's what you wrote: "If the Penn State scenario has shown us anything it’s that no school should hire an outside party to file a summary report regarding an on-campus scandal ever again. Ever. " This is what I disagree with.
A thorough and accurate investigation is exactly what needs to happen at UNC. Transparency, especially at state funded institutions like PSU and UNC, is what keeps problems from happening in the first place. If Joe Pa and the rest of those guys at Penn State knew from the beginning that all they said and did would see the light of day, they would have turned Sandusky over to the cops at the first hint of a problem. And there would be no scandal. And there wouldn't have been further child abuse. It is exactly this kind of turning a blind eye to problems that causes more problems. If the NCAA doesn't act fairly with a the evidence of an investigation, that is a completely separate issue. That is an NCAA issue.
As an Alabama fan I would like to see Dooley stay in Knoxville as long as possible. What I don't want to see is a real coach like Patrino come in. Tennessee could be living in the bottom half of the East for years to come or they could be winning SEC championshps and competing for national championships. It'll be interesting to see.
Here's a good reason no one should expect Dooley to be around much longer. If he doesn't suspend Bray for these two cases of vandalism, Dooley should be fired NOW.http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2012/jul/25/tyler-bray-roommate-accused-of-throwing-beer-off/
I don't see how you could say Tennessee isn't desperate for immediate help. 5-7 last year with a loss to Kentucky. Against the top teams UT was pounded: LSU 38-7, Alabama 37-6, Arkansas 49-7. You're counting your chickening before they're hatched.
@JamieThornton @Root_for_the_Cubbies @Joey So what NCAA ethics bylaws were violated exactly? No one can answer this.
@TigerinMO @JamieThornton Never heard this. Which NCAA bylaws exactly where violated?
@JamieThornton The coverup of illegal acts isn't a violation of NCAA rules. That is a crime for which those four men, including Paterno if he were still alive, should be sent to prison. The NCAA is punishing Penn State when Penn state didn't violate NCAA rules. That is what is wrong here.
@viciousdawg @jimbobfam But it didn't break NCAA rules and it is being punished by the NCAA.
@JR Clark Oh, I don't know, Penn State fans, Florida state fans, anyone who cares about college football.
@jimbobfam This is a great point, but the NCAA has a rule book for everyone to follow, and if Penn State didn't violate any of rules, it shouldn't be punished. How would you like to be thrown in jail when you haven't broken the law?
