I drink Pepsi a lot of the time. People are obese because they're lazy and they're not in control of themselves. You can have a Mcdonalds, you can have a coke. As long as it fits into your daily requirement of macro nutrients.
@painfreekitchen Actually, eating 2,000 calories of veg is the same as eating 2,000 calories of from coke in terms of body composition. Physics.
@FindMoreaboutLasik Why would you think that?
So they found that the people still ate the same amount of calories through the day but the people who did exercise burnt more calories? Wow.
What's the problem with apatite anyway?! If people understand that eating crap food is probably not doing any good more our bodies and eat as clean as possible, then the laws of calories in vs calories out is pretty relevant, not like you can really tell without experimenting what exactly is your calories out but just try it out.
I'm x amount of lbs and I'm y tall. Going to guess or estimate that my maintenance level (where you neither lose or gain weight but stay the same) is 2500, so I will eat exactly that each day for one week, and see what my weight is. Do I need to increase or decrease, or maybe increase of decrease exercise.
I wouldn't want to consume weed killer.
I wouldn't want to consume foods genetically modified.
I would consume foods that have been bread to be better.
Had sleepless night > Got moody through the day and short tempered > More stress causes hormone such as cortisol release > gain fat.
A lot of this stuff I just found out myself.
Had sleepless night > Next day felt like I had little energy > Ate sugary foods to gain energy > Causes energy to be all over the place through day > Eat more > Lose less fat.
People often do not realise that Weight Training is a form of Interval Training.
Lift up a weight, height rate goes super high, drop it, and it goes back down.
@robynneurope The way you look and the your performance probably can be related to a certain extent. Hence why if we take the recent Olympics, all the people doing each sport relatively look the same body shape and body look etc.
I could say if there is ten people, 1 person has a sixpack, and the rest have too high body percentage to see their abs, the guy with the six pack is generally going to be more healthy.
Of course other factors exist such as health not related to fat. Which makes exceptions.
Aren't most people who train, diet, and so forth on a goal to look the best that the person can look or be?
@robertcwellsiii @Emily_M You don't need to do cardio to gain a six pack. You could just do weight training. Weight training is a form of high intensity interval training. When you lift heavy, your heart rate sores right up, and when you drop the weight, it goes back down.
Yes, it's all down to body fat % and how do you lose weight? By being in a calorie deficit. and aiming to lose 1% of your bodyweight a week.
The only reason you would need to do cardio or any other type of exercise is to take yourself into a caloric deficit.
I would always advise weight training (Heavy) for female and male on a cutting diet so you don't waste away.
And yes, doing crunches etc will help simply because, if your muscle is bigger, the less fat you have to lose to see the muscle.
Eating with friends and family can be great, but research also shows that we eat around 3 times more than we normally would when eating with others. So you still have to keep control of your eating, which I personally find quite hard when with others. I'm not even sure what the urge to eat more is.. I just know when I'm with others I'm more likely to have a big dessert.
@ricew In all my weight movements, I try to explode fast on the way out and go a controlled 2-3 seconds on the way back!
I've currently been weight lifting in my Nike Running Shoes, typically because I tend to jog to the gym. I would prefer some nice flat shoes for weight lifting though. Barefoot would be awesome but just wouldn't be allowed in the gym.
I think the next best thing would be the Vibram, heard of them for years now and always wanted a pair, the thought of ordering some and the size being odd. (I can range from 3 sizes depending on the brand) Would just annoy me.
@ChrissyCarroll Brilliant.
Thanks for reading the actual article. Abstracts are normally always not the actual result, or experiment that has gone on. Kind of annoying actually.
She's hot too. :)
I rarely drink these days. For health benefits. Since I'm trying to be very specific with my weight, and muscle, I would find it too difficult when consuming alcohol too.
When I do drink, mainly occasions of some Birthdays, Christmas, New Year, or holiday abroad I always wake up a lot earlier than I should, I think this is down to dehydration.
Do you guys at Greatist only read the abstract of studies or do you get the whole study? (Just wondering).
Talking about dehydration. You mention nothing to explain why a person who have less sleep whilst having drank alcohol.
@lschwech @JackieAdams I would think you could do any type of workout that gets you to your maximum oxygen intake for your body and it would be the same effect.
@LeanGainsGuide I do endurance too and weight training. I would call myself pretty fit. I basically chose 1 minute all out sprint and 2 minute rest because honestly when I really am doing all intensity I can't go longer than 1 minutes.
I'm not sure if you're saying if you haven't got 30 minutes a day, you can just stick on some shoes, and run like a lion is chasing you for 2 minutes...
In that case, does that mean when I do interval training on the treadmill absolutely maximise metabolism? I'm not sure what the best times for interval training are but I do 1 minute of full sprinting, and then 2 minute quick walking. and repeat for at least 20 minutes to 30 minutes.
