Kevin's heart is in the right place, but I am afraid his column is the "triumph of hope over experience." Much as I wish Nash every success, it is unrealistic to expect that he will return to his former glory. I do hope he will score more, once even, but I doubt he will be a force that will put fear in the hearts of opponents. Every player goes through a phase, but given Nash's health problems, I suspect his is a career in "terminal" decline. Would that I were wrong!
As to applauding ANYONE for "being there" - this has an Alice in Wonderland quality to it: "everyone wins and everyone gets a prize." Not booing a poor performer would be the most I would be willing to do...up to a point. All this being said, I understand Kevin's intentions.

Now I know how to improve my physique - sounds simple. I will soon be applying for tryouts with the Rangers. On second thought, make it LA Kings - to sabotage their run for the Cup.

@KevinTheNYRBlog @genetics73 Thank you; also, I have been meaning to compliment you on your efforts to keep us Rangers fans educated and entertained. Much appreciated. Do continue.

Kevin, you listed 8 players of the 10 who showed up. Who were the other two?
@gravey94 Actually, "ryan" is a corruption of "myrrh," one of the gifts that the three Kings of the East were bringing, along with gold and frankincense. One could never have enough myrrh, and so it is with "ryans" - one could never have enough of them. The Rangers must always have at least one Ryan in the lineup. There - now you know:)

A little off topic, but what is the status of John Moore? Has he signed yet?
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun Just to set the record straight - global warming is caused mainly by women's menopause, so signing of Brassard will have, at best, a minimal effect.

My admiration for Dominic Moore has grown even more. I am so glad he remains a Ranger.
Yes - one never tires of seeing THAT
@Bring back Langdon @genetics73 Clearly I can always count on your class and good manners - or perhaps you are not getting the sarcasm, either. Not that it matters to me, but in a battle of wits I do not fight an unarmed opponent. Have a nice day.
@MikeBlue @Josh-CK @JMK8363 I find this idea of trading two very good young players for Eric Staal an absurdity, compounded by the wish to see Hagelin moved. And all that to replace Marc Staal with someone who is none the better - this is beyond absurd. Why not trade St Louis for Eric Staal - two aging players, past their prime, both skilled as they are.
@Bring back Langdon Duped? He offered a deal that an arbitrator could have modified. Wisely, Krieder avoided the process, showing loyalty and good sense in the process. I would not call this "being duped."
We now seem to need differential equations and probability calculus to

In purely financial terms, what does "buying out" a player mean exactly? Does the player get the whole sum of money, or is it prorated? What does it do to the cap if the money is paid out? In other words, where does the "new" money come from for the team to now be able to pay for another player?
Stralman and McD were the Rangers' best defense players the entire season, and here are the "experts" who would not re-sign Stralman, Congratulations.

What a dreadful dreadful stream of consciousness Adam has indulged in.Trade several very good players for one who - regardless of his past performance - is far from being in his prime is a cockamamy idea. But, not the first time, nor the last. Thornton is NOT worth it. Better to develop what is already in place, or coming up (Kristo, Lindberg, etc.) than to trade for a - to put it bluntly - a has been. I am with Zelrio - trade Richards for Thornton - that is a deal I could appreciate.

Keep him - one of the least prepossessing, competent team players on the Rnagers. He has always been my favorite Ranger, and the Boyle Derangement Syndrome that so many on this blog have demonstrated is incomprehensible to me. Keep him.
@EquusBiz To show how dated I am - Bettman WAS booed at MSG in 1994. Good heavens - it has been TOO long.
3 months ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/
@Bukra! For all Bettman's faults, he has made NHL profitable. This being a business, that's all that matters (notice how I plagiarized Hotfreak, shamelessly, too).
@scrangersfan If that's what you paid, then "you was robbed." The official rate has been near parity for quite some time, and currently stands at $1 US to $ 1.089 Canadian.

@Betweentheworlds I do not think the Rangers were outplayed and outhustled in the second game. The 3rd period was a CLINIC - they were in total control except at the very beginning of the period.Yes,the Habs were pushing in the 1st, but they basically fizzled in the latter parts of the contest.
This was the best 3rd period I have seen Rangers play in a long long time - they simply outclassed the opponents.

I cure cancer for a living; so I need more cancers to make my living more comfortable.
A man has an accident and an ambulance picks him up. As he lies on the stretcher, the emergency technician asks him: "are you comfortable?" The man responds: "I make a good living."
Yes, so, the Rangers score 4 goals - is that what you call an "utter inability to finish..."? Let's not indulge in hyperbole. And, as always, LGR!!!
Kevin says: "The one thing I worry may undermine the Rangers against the Flyers is a continuation of their utter inability to finish their chances."
Then, how on earth do they ever win any games? Do the opponents score FOR them?
I like Boyle - that alone should keep him with the Rangers; there's also the fact that he is a good, if not a spectacular, player. If one wants a spectacular player, just look at Ovechkin - he is a spectacle, indeed, even though he's scored over 50 goals. Every "star" needs a supporting cast, and Boyle, D. Moore, Carcillo, Dorsett, are just that, and quite good at what they do.
Before people jump on Boyle for his salary demands, lets wait to hear those demands.
And, anyway, *I* like Boyle and want him in New York, so there..

@IcyCup If it's "one of the saddest," then I envy you. :)
I am as devoted to the Rangers as anyone, but let's hold our hopes in check. Or else, it will be like a liberal's wet dream - nice while it lasts, but then one wakes up with one's hand in a chamber pot.

Oy! And double Oy! Syntax shmyntax, and in any case, i am always
pleased to "regale" the malcontents with long, polysyllabic words. It
was not the syntax - the syntax was perfect. It was, in hockey terms,
equivalent to substituting Brodeur for Lunqvist - the former one is
pitiful, the latter, maginifcently appropriate. So, there. LGR.
@Say my Name @genetics73Oy!
@Bring back Langdon BAD BAD BAD joke!
Kevin, surely you meant that "AV’s calm demeanor was the perfect ..." ANTIDOTE:). But, do continue to regale us with amusing anecdotes from the life and works of Torts.

Why even consider trading away Kreider and/or Stepan and/or Hagelin for a player that will soon be a "has been?" I like all the Stahls, but not at any price. What about trading MSL for Eric Stahl - that is a trade I would approve, provided we also get first round picks in perpetuity, and especially with Ladd, another near "has been" from Winnipeg thrown into the bargain. I am sure Carolina would be glad to arrange the latter exchange This idle talk, not based in reality, reminds me of the current administration in DC, about as competent. But, I digress.
So, James, as "there’s a lot we don’t know behind the scenes." why waste time on idle rumors? :). Why not speculate instead on when MSL will score the first goal as a Ranger? One seems as likely - or unlikely - as the other.

After reading all the comments from dedicated Rangers fans I shudder to think what the enemies of the Rangers have to say. I am reminded of a man wanting a divorce - the judge said to him, "surely, Sir, there must be something wrong in this marriage on both sides?" The man replied, "Aye, Your Honor, she has neither titties nor buttocks." So it appears with the Rangers - neither defense nor offense - even though they did win, and even though Hagelin could have been congratulated on his first NHL hat trick, at least in passing.

Don't criticize Carcillo - if not for his "neutered" behavior, the Rnagers would not have gotten a PP against the Penguins. Dan has been a decent player for the Rangers.
