@Say my Name Of course, every team faces the same problem, so as long as the rules are the same for all I see no reason to complain. The only downside, naturally, is that one's nails are bitten down to the knuckles - but, isn't that what keeps us in focus?

@leftwingbarbara @AnnoyingJoe @dylonergan @Say my Name Why not just trade the entire team for the Ottawa team? Clearly, this is the prevailing sentiment - Rangers are just a bunch of poorly chosen losers, and something, anything, needs to be done to shake them out of complacency.

@MikeBlue @sportsjourn I have always thought that defensive players develop later and last longer than offensive ones (no disrespect implied to either category), on average. Staal is only 28 yrs old, not exactly past his prime.

This is so silly - Pens lose badly, and yet only the losers' goals are shown. I guess it would have been too embarrassing to show the five times the Pens got burned.

Stahl is signed to a long term contract - six-year extension with an average annual value of $5.7 million, a full no-trade clause in the first three years and a full-no movement clause.

@Say my Name @genetics73 Thank you for the analysis. I think you should be a talmudic scholar. I am reminded of Rabbi Rashi, a great talmudic commentator who, while having dinner with his wife, remarked: "This chicken is a little dry." To which she replied: "must you comment on everything?"

I would like someone to clarify an aspect of the game for me. When a goaltender loses his stick, a player from his team can give him his own; but, last night when JT Miller wanted to give his stick to Dan Boyle, there would have been a penalty if Boyle did pick it up. Is this really a rule?

@pkh33 AV announcement that Talbot would play came BEFORE last night's game - so it cannot be Lundqvist's shoulder.

@Barry Beck Oy. Screw Taylor Hall. He only looks good compared to the rest of a miserable team; just as Stafford looked good last night when contrasted with the rest of the Sabres.

@KevinMccarthy @Say my Name I beg to differ - my sense is that AV is a good psychologist and is making JT mature not just as a player, but - more importantly - as a human being. None of us is a privy to the conversations that the coach and JT have had, but I have been impressed with AV's demeanor.

As long as we are talking psychology: A man and his wife are discussing happiness and sadness. The man says: "I bet you could not tell me anything that would make me happy and sad at the same time." She says: "Your dick is larger than any of your friends' "

@Say my Name @genetics73 What is irrational is having a whipping boy du jour for no reason other than just having one, or proposing silly trades just for the sake of silliness. And let's not measure the chlorine contents or the depths of our respective gene pools - who knows what monsters may be lurking in them. Now, I am going to have a glass of a  single malt 16-years old Glenlivet Nadurra, cask-strength, to calm my weak nerves. Eggnog is for sissies.

Recall that Vigneault had considerable difficulty getting Benoit Pouliot play the way he wanted him to play. In the end, because AV was patient and saw the man's potential, it worked out great for the team and for Pouliot. And really, if it's not Brian Boyle, then it's Hagelin, or Kreider - an irrational criticism coming from the people who must indeed occupy "cheap seats," with limited visibility. Enough already, and enough already with trades - JT, Kreider, Talbot and Staal for Taylor Hall???? - please. Why not throw Nash into the mix - after all, he did NOT score last night, the lazy bum.

This said, I think that JT Miller has made great progress, as has Kreider, since AV became the coach. Scoring goals is not the only thing (although they both have done so), and fortunately the Rangers now do have quality scorers. Somehow, with all of AV's terrible choices, the team is winning.

@JustinRP37 If Nash had got in a scuffle, he would have scored a Gordie Howe hat-trick: a goal, an assist and a fight.

@betweentheworlds In faireness, Eric Staal has been playing with some unspecified injury; according to the Carolina announcers, he has not been practicing with the team, only dressing up for games. Seems a strange way to deal with a player who's not well.

If there's any ONE reason I am happy about Talbot's extension is that it will allow me to see Kreider give him a kiss after every victory. I note, approvingly, that they never engage in unprotected sex, and the kisses are always on the helmet.
