I think the theme is The Internet. Or stuff people on the internet think is cool. I'm surprised there's no Cat tile. I agree though, the game hurts my brain. I like FTW, but in small doses.

To be honest, I never liked the generic ipadboardgames name or domain:) I had been wondering what was up, so it's nice to see an update.
I also agree not to lose too much focus. Keep it on digital versions of board games and board game related accessories on any platform. During dry spells maybe throw in strategy games of the moment:)

This is a disappointing review for what is otherwise a really good game. People need to get over the fact it's not universal because they are missing out on what is one of the top game implementations on iOS. We could only wish more game translations were this good. Yeah, the game is simple so it doesn't match the level of games like Carcassonne or Ascension, but what is there is a lot fun because it is a quick play.
What's sadder is the votes so far seem to match the review (but have they even played it?). Would you rather the game be universal, but be a poor implementation? If so, go check out Thunderstone. If you want to knock this because this is an iPad centric site, it probably shouldn't have been reviewed.

USM definitely did NOT make Lost Cities. We can thank TheCodingMonkeys for that extremely polished app. :)
(I agree about Knizia, I like maybe 3 of his games, all of which are at least 10 years old. Lost Cities is one of them.)

So sad two of my favorite game licenses in RFTG and Dominion were sold to a company who are exploiting them solely as a means to promote their backend technology. Which can't even get one game right yet. Thunderstone is equally as sad.
I like Lost Cities, but can't help but think Coding Monkey's talents are wasted on that game when they could probably do something like Thunderstone so much better. Just like Playdek was wasted on Food Fight. Well, bring on another Ascension expansion, and Coding Monkey's did hint they plan on another Carcassonne expansion by the end of the year.

I'm just happy there is an AI. Sure the AI isn't super tough, but it's good enough to play against to learn the game and factions. Though I do hope they add an AI for each faction. Adding an undo option would be nice as well. You can't undo attacks (after a dice roll:), and so a final confirmation for these would be nice.
My complaint is the game mimics the physical game too much. The screen is just a zoomed out view of the cards on the table which combined with the somewhat generic artwork makes it hard to tell what card is what until you've played a faction several times. The glow around actionable cards is also weak. Playdek needs a bit more videogamey flash in their games.
That said, this game is a ton of fun, and right up there with Ascension and Carc as the best strategy board games on iOS. Especially as an asynchronous game since each player's turn is well defined and gives you plenty to do (unlike a turn in Ascension which sometimes takes 2 seconds:).
