Is the SEC a tough conference? Well, just this year Mizzou is ranked #5 in the AP Poll in the entire country. #5. Yet, it is only the 3rd highest ranked SEC school. Sheesh.

With respect to SEC team wins/losses vs. final BCS top 25 teams ... how many of those games were SEC vs. SEC? A much better list would be wins/losses of SEC teams vs. other conference teams.
8 months, 3 weeks ago on SEC Headlines 12/11/2013
OK. It seems quite unlikely Florida can beat South Carolina. Georgia plays its game before South Carolina. So, I will be rooting for Georgia in their game. Missouri could, theoretically, clinch the East (I believe) if both South Carolina and Georgia lose their games. Missouri just might play their last 2 games more loose if there was less pressure.

Not arguing the point -- I also want Franklin starting against Ole Miss. But, another injury find right here in St. Louis that is a classic ---- Kurt Warner when Trent Green went down. Rams went on to win the Super Bowl that year, Warner was NFL MVP --- and the rest is history. LIkely Warner will be in the Hall OF Fame.

Interesting that he said moving forward there would be no more questionable issues like that again. Huh? If the guy really was injured and fell to the ground, how in the world can that be prevented in the future? If he wasn't really hurt, well, then he just admitted the injury was a fake. Strange comment.

It was a good Saturday. Missouri won and Georgia won. (Georgia gave me a heart attack in the 2nd half). So, going forward we need (a) Georgia to beat Auburn and Kentucky or (b) Florida to beat South Carolina ... and, then (c) Missouri to beat Kentucky and at least split between Ole Miss and A&M. If neither (a) or (b) happen, we need to win all 3 remaining games and go 11-1 to win the SEC-East. Sheesh. Not an easy task.

As a Mizzou fan, we want Georgia in this game. My scenario is Mizzou, South Carolina and Georgia all finish 6-2 in the Conference. Mizzou wins the Conference via the complicated tie break rules.

Interesting article/take on the weekend. I am biased but it seems to me the SEC still dominates (at least in the BCS standings) because:
- Mizzou is ranked 5th, yet the ranked teams they beat are Georgia and Florida who are no longer ranked. Seems to me Mizzou is getting lots of credit for beating typically powerhouse SEC teams. Would we be #5 if we beat Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12 this year?
- SEC still has most teams in BCS Top 5 and tied for most in Top 15 (tied with ACC).
- Big 10 has just 1 team in Top 15. Big 12's top ranked teams are Baylor and Texas Tech. So, Texas is now surpassed by A&M and TTU?

Especially interesting if South Carolina had one loss (to Alabama in the SEC Championship game) and Ohio State had zero losses in a weak Big 10. You know as well as I know that this whole system was allowed to exist by Delany in the hope that Conference Champions would prevail over 2 teams from the same conference. If South Carolina received the bid Delany would go nutso. My guess, under this scenario, is that Ohio State would get the bid even if they were "ranked" below South Carolina.

I find it quite interesting that the official line says after consulting with "his lawyers and family". Somebody worked on that press release. We all know how important each and every word is that goes in a press release. Seems strange to me. Why in the world would the official story mention lawyers and not mention the team or the coaching staff or the school? Anyway, it is not what is key. If A&M wins, and if Johnny Football is the star of the game, his celebrity status will go even higher and he will talk ... and talk ... and talk. I for one how he wins and does amazingly well. However, how many times has Nick Saban lost a game after a bye week? I don't know the answer but my guess is very very few.

No disrespect to the Gator football field in the back yard, but, he cannot come close to competing with that dress. Perhaps, to be fairer, he needs to put a Flrida co-ed in a gator swimsuit on the 50 yard line. That would tilt the edge toward him.

Interesting concept - but one that only has a downside to the schools and coaches. Lets also consider paying a bonus to the school/coaches for every athlete who gets on probation, is given another chance, and doesn't get into trouble again as long as he is playing for the team.

I don't see how benching the team's top player and reining Heisman Trophy winner (and someone who the article says could contribute to a 14 win season) based on unproven allegations can even remotely be thought of as protecting the football program. It hurts the football program to bench your best player for unproven allegations. It's unfair to all the other player on the team. It's still a no brainer for me to play the guy.
Thanks for producing the site.
1 year ago on A&M And Sumlin Have A Big Decision To Make Regarding Manziel
No question what I would do --- innocent until proven guilty. Not letting him play based on an allegation is just plain wrong and eliminates all due process.
This is just too bizarre to believe. Even my little sister knows a college athlete can't sell his autograph ... much less hundreds and hundreds of them. She also knows there are no secrets in the world and any violation will be caught -- especially if you are the most high profile college player in the universe. He isn't that stupid. No one is that stupid. Something is very amiss.
1 year ago on Like The Rule Or Not, Manziel Allegedly Violated An NCAA Biggie
I will make a prediction. Johnny Manziel will be just as good, if not better, than last year. After A&M wins their first really huge game, he will be an even bigger star and all this off-season-we-got-nothing-to-do-or-say stuff will melt away like ice in Houston in August. No one will remember or care about any of the off-field stuff that, we should remember, hasn't involved anyone getting injured. Its all words.
1 year, 1 month ago on ESPN The Magazine Tackles Manziel Mania
He must believe in the "any publicity is good publicity" camp. None of this will matter if he plays like last year and A&M wins. None of it will matter. If he doesn't play well, then it will be a disaster. If he plays well, like I said, none of this will matter. I really believe he knows this.
